Wedding Reception
Candy buffet? To have or not to have?

I really like the idea of a candy buffet, but not sure if I should spend the money and time to do it. For those of you who have or plan on doing a candy buffet how much did it cost you?

Also, do you have the candy buffet out the entire night or just for a part of it? Does most of the candy tend to be eaten? I dont want to have 10 pounds of candy left over!

Please let me know your general thoughts on candy buffets.

I love the idea of candy buffets. My friend had one and it didn't cost a lot for her to set up. She brought the candy buffet out during cocktail hour. Despite putting the buffet out during cocktail hour, before the food was served, she did have a ton of candy left over. There was absolutely no chocolate left, but there was a lot of jelly beans and those little marshmallow peeps duckies LOL

I did a quick search online and many ppl that provide the service charge$3.50 per person, that seems high to me.  I think I may just try doing it myself and only bring out the candy at the midnight buffet.  Its hard to guess how many of my 340 guests will actually eat candy throughout the day so I think I will be safer just putting some variety out during the buffet so I wont worry about it running out throughout the evening.

My friend did a DIY candy bar. It worked out a lot cheaper because if you pay $3.50 per guest and not everyone eats the candy then you definitely loose money and you'll be left with the candy you may not want. Putting out some variety is a VERY good idea.

we did  candy and cookie buffet and both weren't that expensive. It was a DIY project. I probably spent $250 on both, including candy and cookies. Walmart has a large variety of glassware that you can pick up and other brides sell their stuff all the time.
And even though our candy buffet was small, we refilled it twice and had lots of candy left over.
I picked up most of mine after valentines day and stored it in a cool place until our wedding, saving even more $$$.

I was just at a wedding this past weekend, and they had a candy buffet and it was a HUGE hit!! Everyone was always there and getting more and more candy! It's something that they really didn't spend a lot of money on and everyone enjoyed it throughout the evening!

We had a candy buffet, and everyone LOVED it. Ours was bigger than most, you don 't need that much! We just used ours as decoration also, works if you use your wedding colors. We bought alot of candy after Vday so it was cheaper, but another trick I came up with is buying foil in your colors, that way you can use any candy and wrap it in your colors rather than pay the extra money for them. Good luck if you do it, have fun with it!
