Been away for a while...
but i'm back!! with alittle bit of drama!!
it's been awhile since i've put anything up here and for that i'm sorry! My last semster of nursing school has been very crazy!!
update on my 30 day shred: well it only lasted 10 days.......lol.....i didnt even get to level 2 and i stopped. not because i thought it was tough, but because i could even find 30 minutes in my shedule to do it......sad i know. i will try again once the semster is over! 11 more weeks!!! as for wedding planning: it's been kind of a stand still.... what i do know is what i dreamed from my flowers is kind of expensive......but i have time and i still have to decide on what florist i want to go with. i think i might go with the same one a friend of mine went with. she had great looking flowers for bouquets and the tables that had them. and the other tables had these great crystal balls, which she said were reasonably priced and they had a bunch of different things like that. so i think i might go check them out soon. other news: FH's step grandma past away last week. Turns out my intuition was right....she couldnt be trusted...... okay so here is the story....she was FH's grandpa's mistress. he divorsed FH's grandma and married "joan". "joan" was 11 years younger than FH's grandpa. Grandpa is...was...well to do. turns out she scared grandpa into putting lots of money in her and her daughter's (not biologically grandpa's) names. she said she was going to divorse him if he didnt...........so now most of grandpa's money is gone......to a family we will never see or hear from ever again......as much as i feel bad for him, i cant help to think Karma was getting him back for cheating on his 1st wife and then divorsing her and loving his money more than his family. (i would never tell FH's this because i know he loves his grandpa and doesnt see the situation for what it is) i guess why i'm even tell you all this is because FMIL has been telling my mom that her and my FFIL all of a sudden dont make much money and have 4 kids. now she never says she cannot give us the $8,000-10,000 she said they would. (and that i'm counting on and based our budget off it.) now when we were all talking about budget she brought up how we should split everything in 3rds. my parents and i were great with this. i then asked my parents how much they were willing and able to give and FH asked his parents. both set said the same amount. so my budget is $24,000-30,000. so far it's looking like its going to be closer to $30,000. my hall alone is $14,000ish and FMIL said the location was a dream come true for her........well i'm now wondering why would she tell FH that she could give us $8,000-$10,000 if they couldnt? i really hope she wasnt planning on getting money from her dad, because my parent promised the same amount, with no help, and i know based on jobs that my parent make less money........ so what is a girl to do? i guess i'll talk to FH. have him ask his mom why she keeps saying those things to my mom.....i'm just afraid she is going to say that cant give us that much. if that's the case it's back to square one....and the first thing to go will be the expensive hall (which FMIL is inlove with). this also makes it possible that we might have to change our date, which could mess up all of our other plans we have booked so far.....i'm really hoping they can still help us...... UPDATE (9/30/2011): so FH talked to his mom. She told him she has no clue what i'm talking about, because she never said those things to my mom..........as much as i'm mad for her calling my mom a liar; i am very happy she can still give us $10, 000 from the wedding!!! i'm going to ignore the implying my mom is a liar part and continue wedding planning. Now i just have to talk to the FH about him wanting to get married sooner and me not wanting to change the date. although todays weather does suck, it is way coolered then it usually is. and has been raining a lot this september. the good thing is that it caused the leaves to change sooner. the bad news is it gray and cold out. so maybe changing the wedding to may/june would be better.......no i think i'll stay with my original plan. lets see what FH thinks. I think what he really wants is for me to move in. which i think i will as soon as the semster ends!! |

Wedding Favors
fall favor ideas please!!!
Found this on another WBC post. and it made me think this would be a cute idea for my fall favors!!! I guess this all depends how ambitous im feeling before the wedding lol
DIY: Chocolate and Caramel Covered Apples Ingredients 2 cups packed brown sugar 1 cup light corn syrup 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) 1 can sweet condensed milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 24 granny smith apples (bought from Costco wholesale $7 dozen) 3 lbs. butter at Costco $7 pointed wooden round sticks at local craft store or candy making supply company online ribbon from Costco ($8 for 50 yard roll at Costco) Instructions Melt the butter in a sauce pan, add the brown sugar and corn syrup. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon over medium heat. Add the sweet condensed milk, continuing to stir. Bring the mixture to 245 degrees F. Once off the stove, add the vanilla and stir. Cool down to about 210 degrees and dip your apples or pears. Twist off the stems on your apples and put in the wooden sticks. Place your dipped fruit on a sheet pan which is lined with parchment paper. Let dry and then dip in melted chocolate. While the chocolate is still wet, dip in toasted coconut, chopped nuts or add pieces of candy. Place back on the parchment paper to thoroughly dry. Melt some white chocolate and place into a zip lock bag, cut the very corner off and drizzle over the apples for detailing. Package up in clear cellophane and tie up with a pretty ribbon. These make for incredible gifts from the heart. Store in a cool place or refrigerate. To enjoy, let them sit in room temperature for 1/2 hour. Place on a cutting board and slice. i need about 250 of these.......wear do i store them all? and when should i start making them i dont want them to go bad!!! or should i do something else? i would like them to have a fall feel and not cost an arm and a leg. any ideas? |

Wedding Video
I believe I have found my videographer!!
So for a little bit there i was considering not getting a video (because FH thought it was a waste of money), but after thinking about i realized i really wanted one!!! So I'm having a high school friend of mine do it. I figure having any video is better than no video at all!! But i actually believe she will do a good job!! She went to college for film, film making/production, and acting!! So considering film making is what she plans to do for the rest of her life i am sure it will be great!! Even in high school she was very creative, good with a camera, and great with editing!! the even better part....she is willing to record our ceremony and reception, plus edit, for only $400!!! I want to meet with her soon and write up a little agreement. plus i was thinking of asking her if she could do some getting ready footage, have a 5 mintue summary, and interview/record message from the guests. I'm sure she will!! the only thing i asked her to do is look into renting wireless mics to record our vows!!! anyways i'm very excited to have her doing this for only $400!!
side note for me*** i really like the idea of having guests sign leaves and me gluing them to a paint picture of a tree and hanging it up in the house*** just a thought of a unique guest book along with our our engagment picture guest book for people to writ messages in!! |

weight loss/toning up
starting Jillian Michaels 30 day shred today
So i bought the 30 day shred yesterday and i'm starting today! i'm a little scared, read some blogs about how it's hard. but i'm sure i'll survive! I have 5lb weights already, but read how 3 lbs might be better.....i'll take my chances and see after today! i'm not to concerned with actual weight loss, but more toning-up even if just a little. i liked that it's only 20 minutes, because with nursing school i just dont have the time for more than that.
wish me luck! i'm hoping to find a measuring tape so i can add my measurments on here..... UPDATE: my measurements are: right arm: 9 1/2 inches Bust: 34 1/2 inches midriff (right under bra): 28 1/2 inches waist (smallest part): 27 inches abdomen (lower abs): 32 inches hips: 33 3/4 inches right thigh: 18 3/4 inches right calf: 13 1/4 inches weight: 116 lbs body fat (according to my scale): 19.8% so i survived my first day!! but i see why people start with 3 lbs and so i bought 3 lbs. mostly i got them because i feel like my form could have been better if the weight was less (and form is very important)!!! |

Ask a Question
calling all fall brides! Where is your Honeymoon?
FH and I really want to go to one of the Sandals resorts in St. Lucia. It looks beautiful!! I'm hoping by picking St. Lucia that we will be safer than if we picked one of the other locations (bahamas, antigua, or Jamaica), because its more south. With it being Hurrican season I'm a little concerned. I've had family tell me that by september 29 and into early october the bad part of Hurrican season is mostly over. Plus to just pay the insurance and hopfully all will be well. I have gone on sandals' website and have seen that people have gone in september or october and had an amazing time!! one couple even had their ceremony there.
also i found this online: Off-Season (hurrican season) The hurricane season, along with increased rain and temperatures, marks what is generally considered to be the off-season in St. Lucia. June through November are the wettest months and the temperature will tend to rise a few degrees making the heat more of an issue for vacationers. During this period, many restaurants will close for weeks at a time or shorten their dining hours. Hotels, meanwhile, will use these slower months for needed renovation or construction. If you are considering traveling to St. Lucia during this period, place calls to hotels and recreation services to check availability and the status of any renovation at the hotel. If heavy construction is taking place, noise and debris may mar your stay. The off season, however, remains a compelling period to visit St. Lucia for those looking to avoid higher prices and crowded beaches. Prices on airline tickets and hotels will drop as much as 50 percent after mid-April and will remain low for the summer and hurricane season. Rainfall, although heightened, generally comes in the form of short showers, and those who stay close to water or air conditioning should not have trouble braving the temperature increase. Hurricane activity can be sporadic, but it is best to keep an eye on weather systems in the Atlantic to monitor any developing storms before or during your stay. Doesnt seem so bad. I can deal with heat and humidity. just means less clothing ;-) who doesnt want that on their honeymoon. so what do you ladies think? take the chance or should we go somewhere else? and where? |

Wedding Dress
Said Yes To The Dress!!!
Yesterday I went to a Maggie Sottero Trunk show!!! It was great went early Friday morning and because most people were at work i got personal service! Plus because i ordered from the truck show I got 10% off the dress! The dress already came with free alterations and free storage (i've heard some places give you a storage fee). I also got a free busle (because my dress was over $1000) and when i order my veils from them i get 20% off all my head pieces! I ended up getting VICTORIANA!! She wasnt at the trunk show, but a few of the new fall dresses i tried on just didnt give me that wow feeling the she did when i tried her on. I also ended up getting the Ivory color, mostly because the white is just so blinding. so now my colors so far are dark red, gold, ivory, and white (things like the table cloth). Because it's the fall and the other colors i'm using i think using white and ivory with the 2 other colors will look lovely (atleast i hope so).
all the pictures are the same dress and are not me, but of a girl who was selling her ivory Victoriana. :-) cant wait!!! it looks beautiful in pictures!! and of course in person!! :-D |

Ask a Question
what have you learned going to other weddings?
The last two weekends i have been to weddings! Over all the weddings were great, but i did learn somethings!
wedding #1: good friends of fiance and I wedding #2: friends of my family and fiance works with groom things i learned and want to avoid like the black plague: -dont have buffet style (the crew might take away the food before anyone is able to get seconds, it's hard for some elderly people to carry thier food back to the table (they didnt look happy at all)) From wedding #1 -dont have individual plates (it costs more than family style and the guest who like to eat will not be happy!!! My dad said he could have had a whole second plate, but instead was stuck eatting 4 rolls of bread just so he wasnt hungry. he is not a bread eatter and was not very happy. plus i'm sure he wasnt the only one. even my fiance (although he was full) told me we were not having individual plates! ) From wedding #2 -dont pick every song from start to finsh that will be played!! (at the last wedding i went to the bride and groom dictated all the songs......BIG MISTAKE!!!! why you ask because not everyone like what you like...thier dance floor was empty most of the night. NOT GOOD!!!) From wedding #2 - you get what you pay for when it comes to the DJ/MC; be smart, not cheap... (my friends decided that they would be going cheap on the DJ. BIG MISTAKE!! the DJ's equipment was old (it made high pitched noises all night, music was not clear, couldnt understand anyone that used the mic). the DJ was also a bad judge of music (people had comments about music and most seemed to dance because they were drunk, DJ was not organized (took him 4 tries to find a version of the cha-cha slide that we could understand)) From wedding #1 - make sure people know when you are cutting your cake!! and have enough for everyone to have some if they want. (had no clue when cake was cut by bride and groom. was never offered a piece of cake and i wanted a small piece!) From wedding #1 - make sure you spell your guests names correctly (fiance's last name was misspelled.....we laughed about it but still embarassing) From wedding #2 - make sure your bartenders know what they are doing and are fast about it!!! (anytime i went to the bar i was in line for 10-30 mintues!! NOT GOOD!! it was so bad all the guys at my table got pitchers of beer, just so they didnt have to stand in-line as much. plus anytime i went up for a new drink they were out of glasses and i had to wait for 5 mintues just for her to get a clean glass.....) From wedding #1 things i liked and might make me change my mind on what i want to do: - I noticed at both weddings that they had no videographer (I dont want to totally get rid of this, but i'm now thinking i dont want to spend #1,300+ on it.... so i'm going to ask my uncle (who has done this for other family members or my friend who went to school for theater and movie production. (not sure what she will charge me if anything)) from both weddings - you dont need flowers at every table, but atleast do more than 1/2 (they only have about 1/3 of the tables with flowers. it looked nice! the other tables had these crystally balls that were 2 different heights (one at each table). it looked nice but i thing 1/2 the table with the crystally balls should have had flowers too!!!)) From wedding #2 - do the bouquet and garter toss (was going to do this anyways but it surprised me have much fun people had with this!!) Both weddings I hope no one thinks this is too mean. Remember we all like different things. and like i said in the beginning over all both weddings were lovely!!! This is all i can thing of for now!! Tell me what have you learned by going to other weddings!?!?!?! |

Ask a Question
weight loss update!!
So I lost another 2.4 pounds this week and i'm 2 pounds way for my goal of 115 pounds!!! I'm very excited and just want to maintain this weight. seeing that i have 13 months until the wedding i'm worried i might gain it all back. and i'm also wondering if i want to lose another 5 pounds. I am 5'4" and at 115 lbs that would be a great weight, but i'm wondering if 110 lbs would be better......For now i think i am going to lose the 2 more pounds to get to 115 lbs and then just tone up (I've gotten lazy and stopped workingout). if i lose more with toning than that would be great......i guess we will see what happens!
what are you doing to lose the weight? How close to your goal are you? i'm doing weight watchers! and like i said above i have 2 more pounds to lose! |
