DIY Wedding
Centerpiece, Plan A's Results - Day Two
So I wanted to share the results of one day of hydrating the flowers, day one. I came home to this...
<---- (check out the pictures of the flowers) They turned out much better than I expected. I might keep plan A. BTW, these roses are peach, not white because Sam's didn't have any white roses when we went. Another note, I have to redo the monogram square because we decided to rotate it. What do you think? Most DIYer's suggest to buy the flowers the Thursday prior to the event on Saturday, so I'll give you an update tomorrow to give this DIY run, a real test of time. |

DIY Wedding
Centerpiece - DIY Flower Attempt
Last night I got BRAVE and bought roses to give my centerpieces, a first DIY attempt.
:::Big sigh::::... it was a lot of work. It's not like I didn't expect it to be... but did expect to be better at it. I finished my first DIY attempt and am not totally happy with the result. My FI says they look good but I'm not convinced. Granted, I understand the roses still have to hydrate and bloom, but I'm very scared about depending on my "florist skills" for our wedding day. I'm scared I might have some type of break down if they don't come out perfect. I guess I will wait more 2 days to see how the flowers bloom and give you an update... but for now, I'm trying to see if theres ANY WAY we can have a florist do our centerpieces. Not only would it take a lot of stress off of me but last night, I realized I don't have the time to set them up at the venue, so I'd be trusting our groomsmen to make my CP's perfect... |

Wedding Reception
Brain Storm - Centerpieces
We just received the submersible Floralytes on Friday so ready to start testing our CPs!
Like I mentioned before, are using white roses in a cylinder vase and a white floralyte in each CP. Yesterday we started fiddling with the CP's to see what would look best. We picked up a couple of bags of marbles to fill the bottom of the vase to cover the floralyte. The FI likes the vase 3/4 of the way full of marbles and I like the whole vase full. Unfortunately we couldn't decide, so I gave in to his liking. Now I need to figure out what vendor I will use for the roses and how I will arrange the flowers. I really like the round look like the pictures in the post. The last thing I need to do is design the monogram tag that will go around the centerpiece. side note: I was a little disappointed with the size of the floralyte. They are a little larger than a quarter! Does anyone have any DIY flower tips, they can offer? |

Wedding Reception
Mock Up - Table Numbers
Today, I started fooling around at work with Paint to design our table numbers. Since we nixed the damask runners, I'd like the design to have a strong damask inspiration.
Note: Our reception tables will have black linens and white napkins. Our centerpiece will be white roses with a white floralyte. Unfortunately with Paint I'm very limited, so when I get home today I'll work on the final product in Photoshop. I think I will change the font and make it bolder, as well as center the text. The design is very simple... I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad. What are you thoughts? |

A New Chapter In History
Obama is the new president of the US
Im speechless. Its amazing. Not only is Obama president, but it's the first minority in office... history writes a new chapter.
It goes in the book that tells the struggles and trials to the end segregation, the woman's right to vote and the man on the moon. I teared up last night thinking, what would Martin Luther King think of this day, November 4, 2008? "Forty-five years ago Martin Luther King had a dream of an America where men and women would be judged not on the color of their skin but on the content of their character. Today, what America has done is turn that dream into a reality." - Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd "A new day is born in America" says the daughter of Martin Luther King, Bernice King. As much as he fought, strived for a united tomorrow... what would he say today, America has elected their first president not by their color of skin or their gender but what they stand for. Obama... please do something great. Dont let us down. |

Wedding Reception
Finally, We Decided On Reception Tables
Originally we decided we wanted a black linen, white napkins and a damask runner with a red rose centerpiece. Due to time and cost we decided to nix the damask runners. I'm a little sad about it, but honestly it's one more thing off my plate.
We also decided on a centerpiece. We decided that since we nixed the damask runner, we would change the color of the roses. Red roses on a black linen are too strong of a combo, so we decided we'd change to white roses with a white floralyte in the vase. I have been looking at floralytes for a while but I really got excited when I saw dd977chic (http://www.weddingbycolor.com/dd977chic) blog! |

Showered With Gifts!
We had our couple shower yesterday
After a rough start and 1 hour delay, we had a wonderful shower. My MOH did an AMAZING job! I truly couldn't have asked for anything more.
When my MOH came to me to get inspiration, I told her simple, family oriented party. Nothing too fancy or stuffy. I wanted to have fun with the family... and we did, we had a blast. We had a couples shower, because I truly didnt think it was right to have a wedding shower without the Groom.... Bride+Groom=Marriage. Plus I cant handle all of that attention alone! lol. The shower had a Tiffany's theme. My MOH got us the prettiest cupcake tower ever. I'm a total cupcake fan, so I loveedd it. Many of our guest were amazed how pretty everything was. I can't wait until my MOH sends me copies of the pictures so I can share them. |
