Wedding Reception
Here's Our Playlist
Yesterday we fired and hired a new dj...days before the wedding! We found out that our original dj wouldn't be able to bring his equipment on the balcony and we'd already turned in our layout to the facility. My FH was able to call a few friends and they gave him the number to another guy. Thank God we'd heard him at another wedding and as an added plus he is the exact same price as our old dj! We just printed his song list so here it is:
During the Cocktail Hour-Instrumental Jazz Wedding Party Introduction – “Swagga Like Us” Bride and Groom Intro- “You Make Me Better” The Bride and Groom First Dance- “So Beautiful” by Musiq Soulchild Bride and Father Dance- “Dance with My Father” Luther Vandross Groom and Mother Dance- “Because You Loved Me” Celine Dion After Delta Sigma Theta Sweet Heart Song- “To Be Real” by Cheryl Lynn Cake Cutting- “Candy” by Cameo Bouquet Toss- “Single Ladies” by Beyonce Garter Toss- “Whatever You Like” by T.I. Bride and Groom Leave (Secondline)- “Do Whatcha Wanna” All other songs don’t matter. We want a good bit of line songs like (Wobble Wobble, Bunny Hop, Cupid Shuffle and stuff). We don’t want a lot of hard rap Boosie etc. and if so not until the later in the reception. Our guest will range in age and backgrounds so we're hoping we can everyone hits the floor. |

HELP!!! Wedding Saturday and Still Wondering About Hair Styles
We're finally at wedding week and I'm still kinda nervous about the hair. My dress has a sweetheart neckline so I know I want it half up half down and I've looked at all the options online but still nothing. The first four pictures are from the hair trial I did a few months ago. If I got this style it would be a little bit higher but it would basically look like this. The last two pictures is how I had it for my bridals. I liked the style but I thought it was a little too big. Which style should I choose?

Share a Deal
Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale
I found so many things at Semi-Annual sale yesterday. I go everytime they have the sale but this time I was in honeymoon mode. I had looked online earlier this week but I wanted to go in the store before I placed my order. I was just happy that there was a good selection and that I didn't have to mix and match pieces. I went on a weekday so I didn't have to deal with so many people searching and moving around. I got a better deal in store than online, three sets of lingerie for about $90! My mom kept saying I shouldn't buy anything because my bachelorette party is next week but I couldn't pass up the deals. I think she secretly bought me something too hehe!

Finished Counseling
Hand Ceremony Got A Yes!
We had our last premarital counseling session last week and we've been cleared to jump the broom! I showed the pastor a copy of our program mock up and an example of the hand ceremony and he said its a go. I had asked him about it before but I wanted him to look over it just in case. Its not something he does everyday so I didn't want it to be too long. Here's the version we're going with:
Please face each other and take each others hands, so that you may see the gift that they are to you. These are the hands of your best friend, full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever. These are the hands that will work along side yours as together you build your future. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief temporarily comes your way. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. These are the hands that will lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into eyes that are filled with overwhelming love for you. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch of your hands! Everything's starting to fall into place...still lots to do but I'm starting to feel like as long as we have the license, witnesses and pastor we're good! |

Got Our License
Let's Get Married!
The FH was finally off on a weekday so Friday we got our marriage license. In Louisiana you have to get your marriage license within one month of your wedding date but at least three days before so we were just waiting for the May 26th. Most of the info we gave was on our parents so I was like who's getting married...lol? The lady started to tell us all the things we have to do the day of and by the time we started to sign to say we were recieving the license I started to tear up, it really sunk in that we're getting married. We were so excited that it didn't matter that we didn't know the lady or that we had to do everything behind glass. I swear looked at the license at least 10 times that day.

Shutterfly Guestbook
I Like It
I didn't want our guestbook to be boring like most of the ones I saw in stores so when I saw a couple of WBC posts about the Shutterfly guestbook I jumped on it. We got it today and I'm glad we went with it. I ordered it last week and got it today. The hardest thing was putting the lines on the pages for guest names.

Bridal Shower
Had a Chocolate Theme
My bridal shower was a couple of weeks ago and I finally have pictures to post. I didn't know the theme or games or anything only the date. Everybody knows I love chocolate so when I saw the fountain and the brownies and cake it was on. I should have guessed it because my MOH told me I could wear brown or purple. I just had to have something brown and had been looking forever because everything about the wedding has been purple (finally found the outfit the day of).
Some of the Games: How well do you know the groom: I had to answer questions and eat a hershey's kiss for each wrong answer which made it a kiss from him. Through the years: They put pictures of us through the years on different posters and guest had to put them in order. Honeymoon luggage: He packed a bag and I had to put on the clothes and guess our honeymoon destination. They gave personalized Hershey's Kisses as favors had a chocolate saying sign in plate. The wedding monogram themed so they made a towel cake with monogram towels. I loved everything! Anyways my S-I-L hired a photographer so here are some of the pics. |

Mrs. in a Month!
So Over DIYs
I'm getting married in a month! Time is moving so fast and all those small projects are really starting to add up. My list isn't that big but ugh...so many details. I don't feel like dealing with that damn card box lol. I still have to get my cake topper together too. I axed the wish tree and instead of guest hanging wishes we're gonna hang pictures of us through the years. I finally sent the invites out and ordered our guest book from shutterfly. Here's what's left:
Jewelry for moms Shoes for my mom Gifts for parents Cardbox Cake topper Change brooch into hair piece Marriage license (Friday!) Stuff favors Make cootie catcher reception program (ordered from Sarahdarling) Meet with musicians to finalize wedding music Wedding progams And maybe two or three other things. The goal was to be done by early May. We went to our last count down dinner tonight. We always celebrate the major countdown months so we did it for the year, sixth month, and now our one month marker (tear lol). Hopefully I'll get these DIYs togther! |

Engagement
Not Bad As I Thought
As soon as I came back from taking our engagement pictures I posted about my makeup and how scared I was that it would be too much. We finally got the proofs and after letting them grow on us a while, they aren't that bad. Of course there were a few where I was like "OH HELL NO!" But I was just glad that we had a few to choose from for our guest book. So here are some of the pics, my computer is moving sooo slow plus its been taking forever to upload to the site. I added a couple of the pictures I felt had too much going on so you could see what I meant.
