NWR: Speaking of birthdays...
Today is my 23rd!
Unfortunately, I have to work today (first birthday I've ever had to work, and work has been rough for the past few days!), so I'm hoping the day will go by fairly fast so I can spend some time with Aaron later tonight...he makes everything better! =)

NWR: I need some help again!
Mom's 50th Birthday Bash...what to do?
Hello ladies!
I'm sorry I haven't been on here much over the past few days...things are getting hectic around here. I'm sure you all know the feeling! Anyway, while I have a brief moment, I thought I might pick your brains. We're having a surprise 50th birthday party for my mom next month. We're going to avoid black and instead keep everything colorful. My sister and I were thinking that since she was born in 1961 and we want to keep it colorful, we could just do an 1960s theme with the decor. But I have NO IDEA what to do for centerpieces!! Any suggestions? I'm trying to keep the costs as low as possible, since I'm already going to have to pay a rental fee for the hall and then for the food, cake, soda, etc. What do you think? Any ideas for 1960 themed centerpieces? Thanks a bunch! :-) |

Help!
I need some ideas for adding color.
This is the start of my centerpiece idea. If you read the last post about it, you know that it is a triangle shaped photo luminary in the center with a candle at each corner. I do like it the way it is, but I think I'm really going to hate the lack of color when it's on white table cloths! I thought about just spreading blue rose petals around the base of it, but I still don't know if that's going to do the trick.
Does anyone have some kind of idea on how I could add some color to it without making it look cheap or cheesy? Thanks!!!! |

Making the pledge AGAIN!
A promise to comment on EVERY post I read!
Alright ladies, I don't know if it's just me or not, but it seems like the number of comments on new posts have been decreasing lately (not that it's about the number of comments, but advice and input from multiple people is always nice, especially when we're needing opinions!). I know when I post something (like when I posted the start of my mock-centerpiece 4 days ago), and I see 1 comment, but 23 views, I start to wonder, "Does it really suck and no one wants to tell me?" or "Is that just a really bad idea?" I know we all have those times when we're really excited to get some feedback on some project or on a new piece of news, and it's so discouraging when we don't. Therefore, I'm doing it again! I'm renewing my pledge to comment!
I, Stephanie (a.k.a aaronsbridetobe), promise to comment on EVERY WBC post I read and to do my best in helping out fellow WBC brides!!! Who's with me? |

Good price for a hoop slip?
Hello commenting and supportive brides!
I have a question. I'm planning to get a hoop slip for my dress so that my dress stays puffed out like it looks in the stock photo. I saw this slip on ebay. It's bridal tafetta material, and apparently the hoops can be removed to adjust the fullness. It's $10.95 USD for the hoop, plu $12.95 USD for shipping, so $23.80 total. Is that a good price for a hoop? I've never had one before, so this is one area where I am clueless! Thanks for the help, ladies! |

One of my girls just found out she's pregnant!
Two days ago, one of my girls sent me a text saying she had just taken 2 pregnancy tests, and both were positive. Having a history of false positives, she took 2 more and they were both positive. She immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day, only to find out that she is, in fact, three weeks pregnant! Her due date is in August (so she'll still have almost a year before our wedding date!). It's quite a surprise because they honestly did not think her husband could have children.

I'm relieved
Church is kind of, sort of booked
Penciled in is what I should say. We are now tentatively "penciled-in" at the church for our wedding date! After the holidays, we are going to go back there so I can get some pictures (the image <---- is some random one I found online) and so I can measure the aisle and do that stuff. Of course, it is a bit early to need to do any of that, but I really want to, so Aaron and I are going to go, along with his mom and maybe mine. :)
What a relief! If only I can get the reception venue sorted out once and for all! |

Bridesmaid Newsletter 2 Complete!
Sending it to my girls in a few days!
The second Bridesmaid Newsletter is complete! I finished it today! I actually ran out of space, as I had no idea I would end up talking about my dress (still thrilled about that) and I devoted an entire page to sharing a few of our engagement pictures! Sorry about the quality of the pictures here...I had some trouble with the files, so I literally took pictures of the pages with my camera!

DIY Wedding
Start of a mock centerpiece. What do you think?
Hello to all of my virtual bridesmaids!
This is the start of my mock centerpiece. Some of you probably know that I'm following this whole "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words" theme, and so a while back, when I saw the idea of photo luminary centerpieces, I was really excited. I finally had a chance to start putting one together. I did this in just a few minutes, but it is still far from done. It's really lacking color, so the picture parts are actually going to be raised a bit higher (to about the height of the candle glasses) and they will be sitting on a foam base which will be densely covered in blue flowers. If that doesn't do the trick for adding some color to it, additional changes will be made as well. As for the actually luminary part of it, 2 sides will be 2 of our engagement photos (with different photos on every table) and the third side will be a table NAME, along with a quote in line with that name. (For example, the table named "Love" will have a quote like "I love thee to the depth and the breadth and height my sould can reach" or the table named "Commitment" will have the quote "In a time when nothing is more certain than change, the commitment of two people to one another has become difficult and rare. Yet, by its scarcity, the beauty and value of this exchange have only been enhanced.") I got the idea of using table names from another WBC bride (2723obriens) and then I just added my own idea of adding a quote to it as well. I'm going to do a special seating chart with the table names, as well. Anyway, what do you think so far? Any other suggestions on adding color (and I should mention, I haven't made a decision about having a runner or not...we may used colored napkins to add color to the table instead)? |

UPDATE: I need help!!!
This is an update from my previous post:
I don't know what to do! I found 2 dresses that I REALLY like, and I can't make up my mind between them. They are in the same price range, and each one has a minor problem, so I'm having trouble choosing! I also just found out that the store isn't just having an after Thanksgiving sale...they're actually closing down, and tomorrow is their last business day! So I'm thinking I could probably get either one of these dresses (both over an original price of $1299) for less than 300! The two dresses are Essence of Australia D1073 (it's very elegant and classy, and I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but it has fine rose detail, and little bling things on the train) and Maggie Sottero Lavina Royal (it has more of a princess feel to it than a fitted feel like the other). Here are my problems with them: I've always thought I would wear a bigger dress, so the form fitting Essence dress isn't satisfying that preconception. I've also always thought that I would wear a white dress, and the Maggie one is Ivory. If the Maggie one was white, there would be no doubt that I would get that one, but the ivory is just holding me off on getting it. Don't mind the clamps on the dresses...they were both 1 size too big. Also, ignore that the corset wasn't done up...my mom didn't feel like tying them up since we had to clamp the dresses anyway! What do you think?? I'm considering showing Aaron. ****UPDATE! I bought the Maggie dress!!! =) I'm super excited! Now my only challenge will be not putting it on 100 times between now and our wedding day!!!! |
