speeches? peaches.

it has been said, that if you ask a person what their LEAST favourite part of a wedding is, 9 times out of 10, they will say speeches. i can't promise this statistic is true, or has been proven in anyway, as it was said by one of our mc's chris, but he is more confident about this then anything.

i however, disagree completely.

my MOST favourite part of a wedding, is the speeches. i love the idea that they are written with care, (usually), said with heart (usually) and are one of those few times in life when you can say how you really feel about someone, and not feel self-conscious about it, or worry that you are coming off too mushy or lovey dovey (usually). it's your moment to say the things you might not normally say, to those who mean something to you, on one of the most important days of their life.

i know this isn't everyone's cup of tea-in fact paul is dreading saying a speech more than anything he has ever had to do in his entire life. part of me wants to put the kid out of his misery and tell him to just scrap the whole idea....and the other part feels like you only get to do this once; make the most of it. i on the other hand have been planning my speech for years. lol. every time i think of something i want to say to him, or our wedding party, or our family, i write it down, and i am really excited to take all my love notes, and put them together to tell a story.

each person in our wedding party has offered to speak, and i am so eager to hear what they have to say. knowing them, there will be lots of laughs, and lots of love. and although i am not expecting anything in particular, i know this will be an emotional moment during the day, and i am so ready for it.

I wholeheartedly agree. Was my fave part. :) Loved the speeches so much at our wedding. I was sooo looking forward to Mark's - I had read some of it, and he couldn't get a word out without crying lol. I felt shafted haha. I should have just been touched that he was so happy he was crying, right?! LOL But the heartfelt words on that day are just so sweet and touching and I remember all of them very fondly <3.

I love them. I hope you laugh, cry and feel like the luckiest girl being surrounded by so many who adore you! To me, that was the best part of the day!

Time is really flying by. We are coming up on the 2 month mark.

I too, really like speeches. If they are held to a minimum. We are making speeches to our parent's the night before the wedding (rehearsal dinner) and I think the MOH and BM will be the ones to speak at our wedding. I haven't even begun to write my speeches yet, kinda makes me nervous.

Standing infront of a crowd full of people is nerve racking, throw spilling your guts into the mix and it could turn into a fright fest or many ( myself including )

Perhaps you could have him record his speech on the computer, and have him make a slide show of the two of you and the people you are most closest to (friends/family) then put his voice recording into the slideshow... He'd still be getting his speech/his thoughts/feelings/thank yous etc etc across to everyone, without having to stand up in front of everyone and read.

i also love the speeches pasrt! if you are a guest it kinda gives an insight to them what the couple is like in ther daily lives!!! dont worry it will be awesome and judging from your family and friends you will have a ball!!!

I can just imagine that you will have the most fabulous speech ever from the way you write all of these posts. And I hope you post your speech maybe after the wedding.
I hate speaking in public and it terrifies me to think about speaking in front of that many people. I was thinking about doing like what Laurie is doing and speaking at the rehearsal dinner and letting the Best Man and the MOH do the speeches at the wedding.
I've never really been to a wedding where I heard any amazing speeches. Maybe that will change on my day. :)

And I know you're having your bachelorette weekend this weekend. I hope you have a blast. I am also having my party this weekend from process of elimination because I have not had it yet but I don't really know anything about it. But hopefully we will both have fun times with our girls.

Bombers. You will write the BEST, DRESS-SPLITTINGLY FUNNY speech that ever came from a bride's mouth and I implore you (along with our friend Britt) that you post it after the wedding. Or maybe before. :)

Best men write fantastic speeches, due to their tendancy to make people warm up a little under the arms. And I think Paul's fuzzies for you will manage a very cute, emotional speech... I'm sure of it!
