I'm just curious.
I watch this show called Rich Bride Poor Bride ( me being a poor bride haha) And the typical budget for most people is 20,000 and up.
Just wondering, for those of you who dont mind talking money, What is your wedding budget/what did your wedding cost??
Im curious to know where I stand.... We say no more than $5,000
HOW WE'RE DOING IT:
My mother is a Chef and her and her sisters insisted on doing the meal... they'll have everything prepared and have a group of our ladies from my church for the day of to come in and do it up!
Meal: We are having Lobster and Chicken... My meal for 120 ppl is costing $500-$600 tops.
When we got engaged we agreed to spend the majority of our budget on 1. a photographer 2. My dress 3. Our wedding bands
His suit: Free! He has a hand-made/tailor-made Gucci Suit that he got while on deployment overseas.
Wedding cake: free - Chef Mom is doing it.
Flowers are $200 for 5 bm bouquets and my bouquet
Boutineers are free - my aunt is doing them
Programs: cost only what the paper costs us, another aunt is doing these... she works for a printing company $35
Jewellery: all of my jewellery is free. Gifts from aunts and my mom.
Shoes: I scored my shoes for $15 at Maceys
Invitations: FMIL made them for free --cost us $13 to mail 25 of our invitations, we hand delivered the rest.
Music: Guitarist and Soloist are doing it for free because they're friends of my Father's and my father is taking care of the Violinist.
Minister: $100
Photographer: $1250
My Dress$ 1100
Rings$ 750
Transportation: Horse and Carriage;; FREE ....friends of the family.
Dj: His regular rates: $500 cost to us:$250 : Its all in who ya know!! I said my last name and he said oooh you're so and so's niece!!!
Reception Venue $350 for a grand room, a side room and the Kitchen.
Decorations : I spent about $ 120 on our Candy Buffet
Wine : 48 bottles of wine --Free.... My dad works for the liquor control commission and is well liked... Head office gave it to us as a gift!!
Makeup: Free - My other aunt is a certified makeup artist
Hair: $45
Nails $30
Grand total: 4958 give or take $200-300... Not bad??
Im sure I might be missing a few things... Im lucky that most of my immediate, and extended family is doing things for free or at least out of their own pockets, otherwise we wouldn't be able to have this wedding at all!
AND even though its a small amount compared to a lot of ladies I really do think its going to be beautiful!! We did a lot of stuff ourself & found great deals!
All the rest though (honeymoon, transportation for wedding party since they're all from out-of-town, food to feed people for a few days, etc) is looking like another $5,000 :(
As of today we're looking like we'll end up after everything at $19,500.
I just hope that those of you who are spending that kind of money aren't going into debt over it. I hope its from savings and help from family. I just can't imagine spending that kind of money on one day.... 40 K is a nice down payment on a house!
It was amazing, they all got together after we got engaged and talked about how to help us out! My dad says he can afford 20, 000$ and our mothers (who are splitting the cost of food) said they could afford 10, 000$ (together) There is NO WAY we have spent anywhere near 10k for food. SO they are happy with that. We're only having 100 guests, and I'm really trying to bargain hunt for my father's sake!! I don't think we'll end up spending the full 20, 000$
We dont really have a set budget, so far with my dress and the Yacht we're at $5000.
We still need the rings, his tux, Ring bearer tux, BM and flower girl dress, shoes, and little extras. His mom is a professional baker so she's doing the cake and desserts... alcohol we'll have to figure something out lol
We originally said we didn't want to spend over 10,000, but everything seems to add up!! Our venue with food and open bar is 8,000 alone.. then photos is 4,500.. I did get a good deal on a dj.. thanks to my dad.. soo I am already at about 14,000 and that's not including flowers and other decorations.. and that all adds up!!! I keep going gback and forth on is it worth spending 20,000 + on one day... we could do soo much with that money.. but I feel like I would regret it if I skimped out on what I really want!...
Sounds like you got a lot of awesome help from your fam.. I'm sure your wedding will turn out beautifully! :)
I wish I had more connections.. My MOH's mom did say she would do my fowers at cost.. soo that will be great! :)
but goodluck!~ :)
done in your taste and liking. I happen to know a couple who married at a wedding drive-thru in Pigeon Forge. Anyway, I wish
you the best for your big day.
So far I'm at $8,450 and that includes
Ceremony
Venue
Food
tables/chairs
Linens
Drinks
basically everything except
photographer ($1000)
Cake (Free)friend
DJ ($160) friend
Decor (doing ourselves)
A few other things, but I believe I can stay within that budget.
He told us just to do what we wanted, and not to worry about money. I couldn't do that though, we set a $10,000 budget and it looks like we will be $15,000, but that's because of dad, haha.
He insisted on a top photographer and caterer.
Catering is $50 a head including linens, china, flatware, glassware and servers. We're getting married in the middle of nowhere, so prices are a lot lower than here in Vancouver!
I'm still having a very hard time believing we're spending that much though, I know a wedding is such an important day, but it's so much money for one day!
