Ask a Question
What's your wedding budget??

I'm just curious.

I watch this show called Rich Bride Poor Bride ( me being a poor bride haha) And the typical budget for most people is 20,000 and up.

Just wondering, for those of you who dont mind talking money, What is your wedding budget/what did your wedding cost??

Im curious to know where I stand.... We say no more than $5,000

HOW WE'RE DOING IT:

My mother is a Chef and her and her sisters insisted on doing the meal... they'll have everything prepared and have a group of our ladies from my church for the day of to come in and do it up!

Meal: We are having Lobster and Chicken... My meal for 120 ppl is costing $500-$600 tops.

When we got engaged we agreed to spend the majority of our budget on 1. a photographer 2. My dress 3. Our wedding bands

His suit: Free! He has a hand-made/tailor-made Gucci Suit that he got while on deployment overseas.

Wedding cake: free - Chef Mom is doing it.

Flowers are $200 for 5 bm bouquets and my bouquet

Boutineers are free - my aunt is doing them

Programs: cost only what the paper costs us, another aunt is doing these... she works for a printing company $35

Jewellery: all of my jewellery is free. Gifts from aunts and my mom.

Shoes: I scored my shoes for $15 at Maceys

Invitations: FMIL made them for free --cost us $13 to mail 25 of our invitations, we hand delivered the rest.

Music: Guitarist and Soloist are doing it for free because they're friends of my Father's and my father is taking care of the Violinist.

Minister: $100

Photographer: $1250

My Dress$ 1100

Rings$ 750

Transportation: Horse and Carriage;; FREE ....friends of the family.

Dj: His regular rates: $500 cost to us:$250 : Its all in who ya know!! I said my last name and he said oooh you're so and so's niece!!!

Reception Venue $350 for a grand room, a side room and the Kitchen.

Decorations : I spent about $ 120 on our Candy Buffet

Wine : 48 bottles of wine --Free.... My dad works for the liquor control commission and is well liked... Head office gave it to us as a gift!!

Makeup: Free - My other aunt is a certified makeup artist

Hair: $45

Nails $30

Grand total: 4958 give or take $200-300... Not bad??

Im sure I might be missing a few things... Im lucky that most of my immediate, and extended family is doing things for free or at least out of their own pockets, otherwise we wouldn't be able to have this wedding at all!

Our budget is $2,000. We are having a beach wedding in Florida, which is only a six hour drive. I'm bargain shopping for everything! I think we'll be fine on our budget, maybe go over a little, but not much.

For the wedding itself (including rings and paperwork) our budget is $15,000.

All the rest though (honeymoon, transportation for wedding party since they're all from out-of-town,  food to feed people for a few days, etc) is looking like another $5,000 :(

As of today we're looking like we'll end up after everything at $19,500.

I haven't been monitoring my budget as closely as I should have.  Most of the little things I have paid for out of my pocket as we've gone along, like paper, favor stuff, etc.  The other big expenses I have saved up for--like my dress and then obvisouly the vendors.  My original budget was $6000 and I believe I've only gone over that by $300-$500, but I wont' know for sure until I get my final headcount.  My wedding is buffet-style at an officer's club right on the beach for 100 people.  I don't think I've done bad for $6000!

Our budget is up to $42,000 that is including our honeymoon that along is $7,500, just like amcs76 said, all the little things add up too quickly, plus I paid for MOH, 2 flower girls, 2 ring bearers attires.

I just hope that those of you who are spending that kind of money aren't going into debt over it.  I hope its from savings and help from family.   I just can't imagine spending that kind of money on one day.... 40 K is a nice down payment on a house!

9,000 maybe 10,000 since We found the town- We both grew up in other places and don't want to get married where we live. Keeping a tight budget is important to us. I am a full time student and We don't want to finance a dime for the Wedding. Our estimated guest count is 65-70 people with a very small wedding party. I eliminated flowers from the reception except for on the cake to save $! Hopefully  it will turn out great and we wont be in debt!!

We have been very blessed, my father is paying for our wedding, my mom and his mom are paying for the food, his father is paying for our honeymoon, and his mother's gift to us is a down payment on our first house.

It was amazing, they all got together after we got engaged and talked about how to help us out! My dad says he can afford 20, 000$ and our mothers (who are splitting the cost of food) said they could afford 10, 000$ (together) There is NO WAY we have spent anywhere near 10k for food. SO they are happy with that. We're only having 100 guests, and I'm really trying to bargain hunt for my father's sake!! I don't think we'll end up spending the full 20, 000$

Unfor it keeps going up so I would say around 45,000 to 50,000. The good thing is we already own a home we will probally buy a second one later this year. Each of our parents put money in along with us as well. We have put nothing on credit we both have great jobs. Its expensive to get married in Orange County and the place we picked is nice but its not the $$$$ of all. Most place are 60,000 min where we live.

Dang girl! Your lucky you know a lot of people in the right places when it comes to Wedding stuff!!!

We dont really have a set budget, so far with my dress and the Yacht we're at $5000.

We still need the rings, his tux, Ring bearer tux, BM and flower girl dress, shoes, and little extras. His mom is a professional baker so she's doing the cake and desserts... alcohol we'll have to figure something out lol

Soo my FH and I never really set a budget!! Kind of scary.. we are paying for everything ourselves... We just bought a house last June..
We originally said we didn't want to spend over 10,000, but everything seems to add up!! Our venue with food and open bar is 8,000 alone.. then photos is 4,500.. I did get a good deal on a dj.. thanks to my dad..  soo I am already at about 14,000 and that's not including flowers and other decorations.. and that all adds up!!! I keep going gback and forth on is it worth spending 20,000 + on one day... we could do soo much with that money.. but I feel like I would regret it if I skimped out on what I really want!...

Sounds like you got a lot of awesome help from your fam.. I'm sure your wedding will turn out beautifully! :)
I wish I had more connections.. My MOH's mom did say she would do my fowers at cost.. soo that will be great! :)

but goodluck!~ :)

You go girl!!!!  It sounds great and very well planned.  Believe me I wish I had 5,000 to work with.  All that really matters is that it's all
done in your taste and liking.  I happen to know a couple who married at a wedding drive-thru in Pigeon Forge.  Anyway,  I wish
you the best for your big day.

Around $2,500....My parents are dead and his are stupid so we have no help : (   Im not the type that would wanna spend a grand on a dress or tens of thousands on a venue , I dont think i would want more then i plan on having but it sucks not to have some kind of cushion with costs.

$5,000 Like many brides here I did not expect any help from either set of parents. Though there has been some pleasant offers of help from unexpected sources. My parents offered to chip in/pay for our honeymoon. My grandparents want to buy my dress for me. On both accounts I'm not intending to be to extravagant. A friend of ours just got ordained as a minister and offered to do our wedding for us. I'm planning on DIYing almost anything possible. Hopefully, everything works out.

We are really luck to have my parents paying for our wedding. So our budget is about $18,000. My dad never really gave me a set budget. He just wants to make sure we are getting our money's worth, and so do I! Anyway, I am still doing a ton of stuff myself, diying, etc. Oh yea and that cost doesn't include the rings or honeymoon, we are paying for those ourselves. And we are paying for all the bridesmaid's dresses. I believe that even though the money my dad is putting towards our wedding is a good chunk of cash, he wants to do this for us, and we are having the wedding we want. Other people might want a wedding that requires more, or less, but this is how much ours costs. It just annoys me when people say that a certain amount is too much to spend on one day and you should be saving it. Obviously I wouldn't expect my dad to pay for our wedding if he couldn't afford it. And we already have our down payment for a house saved up.

my daddy is paying :) I'm a spoiled brat.
He told us just to do what we wanted, and not to worry about money. I couldn't do that though, we set a $10,000 budget and it looks like we will be $15,000, but that's because of dad, haha.
He insisted on a top photographer and caterer.
Catering is $50 a head including linens, china, flatware, glassware and servers. We're getting married in the middle of nowhere, so prices are a lot lower than here in Vancouver!
I'm still having a very hard time believing we're spending that much though, I know a wedding is such an important day, but it's so much money for one day!

Our budget is $20,000 but I'm hoping to stay way under it since we're paying for it ourselves. That's not including the honeymoon or the dress which my parents are buying. Getting married in Southern California is expensive! You would think you could get so much more with that kind of money... Oh well, it will be BEAUTIFUL regardless of the cost because our love is priceless! :)
