Wedding Cake
Cupcakes or Cake

My wedding is far from being traditional.. its not going to be religious ceremony nor am I going all out. It's simply going to be a true replication as me.. Fun, sassy and summery! So with that being said, I think it would be super fun to have a cupcake wedding cake. I've seen other girls on here post pictures on their thoughts about it and I've seen other couples really do it.

Honesty, I don't care what anyone thinks if I do decide to do because as all of us ladies say on here, "It's our wedding and we will do what we want!" I have posted a few pictures of what I have seen so far and am very interested in doing.

The first picture is just the colors of the cupcakes that I would most likely use minus the yellow because that is not within my theme. We will have a traditional cake to cut into and to take pictures with but that's the only tier of cake that we would have. I would probably make mine look a little bit more classier and less kid friendly.

The second picture is of a mousse type cupcake. I have seen this in a wedding cake magazine and it looks just delicious. They put the couples initials on it to add a more personal touch. I wonder how cute they would look in my wedding colors though.

And lastly, ahh my favorite.. but I'm sure cost a fortune. A traditional wedding cake with Hibiscus flowers (my favorite) I know it would cost so much because hibiscus is not a traditional flower, it's tropical and hard to keep preserved for such a long period of time. I grow these here in Michigan in the summer and they only last about a day or so, maybe two if I'm lucky. But I just love these flowers. I'm thinking of looking into seeing how much it would cost to have these flowers. I know I could just surround them around the table but if I could get a wedding cake at a decent price, I would most definitely put them on our cake.

Totally cake...I personally really don't like the idea of cupcakes.Plus what would you cut. I would go with cake =] You could do a candy buffet and incorporate cupcakes there if you wanted.

You can do a unique cake too so it stands out and doesnt just look like a wedding cake...try looking on The knot for unique ideas, that you are sure to fall in love with...http://wedding.theknot.com/wedding-planning/wedding-cakes.aspx

Good luck hun!

i'd say if you want to cut a cake do just like in the picture and have the cake at the top and cupcakes on the bottom layers or alternate layers of cake and cupcake...Hope this helps sweetie!

Ok...... So I am all about the cupcake style! That is what I am doing for my wedding as well. I have been to sooooooo many weddings, and have been force fed cake wrapped up in a napkin!! But...... when it is a cupcake, it's so much easier to eat and looks sooooooo pretty!  I like the look of the first pic of the cupcake (they look more crisper) however, the mousse cupcakes look yummy!

Hope this helps! :)

If you really love the look of the cupcake "cakes" then I would definitely say go for it, especially if it seems to incorporate more of who you are and what you want your wedding to be all about!!  You can definitely always have the small cake on top to cut into and then the cupcakes on a stand (or stands) beneath it.  If you want to have hibiscus (which I absolutely love too!!), then you wouldn't need as many if you just put some on the top cake and around the table, then you could decorate each individual cupcake in some other way...maybe even with your initials on them like you mentioned!!  So I think this would actually be the cheaper way to go in the end too...so yeah go for it!! ;-)

my friends had cupcakes and it was gorgeous. they had one peice to cut, and that was also for the parents. the rest was cupcakes. I thought it was cool because I hadn't been to a wedding before that had that. They stood out which was exactly what they wanted :)
