I have finally put my cake pictures up ... I was saving the best for last! I must say ladies that I absolutely loved loved loved my cake. Not only did my baker do an amazingly fantastic job on the detail, it was utterly delicious and to die for! We did two layers of red velvet with creamcheese filling (a big hit), and a large layer of double chocolate, with chocolate grenache filling, all under a fondant layer!
I bought the sating ribbon from Michael's at $1.50 for two rolls, and the brooches I found at The Bay for $25.00 a piece. I know it's a bit to pay for brooches, but they looked so beautiful and I had switched my mind on my cake last minute and didn't have time to search through antique vintage shops. I originally had planned on a cake with gum paste flowers (roses) and fake edible pearls, but I am sooooo happy I changed my mind. Everyone loved our cake at the wedding too!
I posted the pictures in the blog so that when you click on them, they come up extra large on the computer. May be handy if someone likes the design and wants to share the idea with their wedding cake baker! I know the original picture I had shown my baker was very big and the detail was kind of blurry, thus they weren't sure how exactly at first they were going to create the lace effect. So hopefully this helps if anyones interested.
I know the style might not suit everyones taste, but I thought it turned out beautifully! Hope you ladies liked it as much as I do!?!
I am not doing fondant. buttercream frosting will be on our wedding cake.
btw, i'm fairly new here - how were u able to put photos on the blog???
