Attempting a Birdcage as you Read!

I know Friday nights and weekends in general are very slow on here, but I hope there are some souls gracing WBC and this post tonight ;)

Well, just like when it came to the wedding your Mrs. here has left things until last minute. In just a few mere moments I will attempt a feat ... yup that's right a DIY project that includes some sewing ... GASP! Although, simple to most lol I am horrible with a needle and thread, so this birdcage veil should cause me some grief before all is said and done!

Here are all of my supplies sans assembly ... french netting, my original two-piece Alfred Sung hairpiece that I turned into a single flower, thread, a need , scissors, and missing from the group photo is my all mighty faithful HOT GLUE GUN of course ... LOL!

When in doubt, just use a hot glue gun is my motto!

Tashasita DIY dummie, step aside there's a new DIY dummie in town! lol
I'll post some pictures of my completed project once it's done granted it doesn't turn out hideous! Please send me so some luck ladies, I will need it!

Ask a Question
Ever considered Trash the Dress?

So this upcoming Sunday marks our one year wedding anniversary. I am so glad to be celebrating our very first. It feels funny to start back at one after seven years of being together, but this is so much more meanigful than a regular anniversary and I can't wait to share a wonderful day with my best friend!

Anyways, as you may know, we are doing a vintage "the year after" beach shoot just before sunset. It's going to be very beautiful and so romantic I can't wait. My Photographer Rebecca Whintey messaged me yesterday with a question which was this ...

"I was wondering about your comfort levels so I can know in advance - do you want your dress to stay completely dry, or are you okay with the very bottom getting wet, or more? And are you okay with sitting in the sand in it? You can sit on blanket as well, or on my little bag cover."

I thought about it and responded saying "why not!?" So I guess it'll somehwat be a trash the dress session. I mean I still haven't cleaned my dress from last year yet and it is slightly dirty on the bottom anyways. So it looks like I am going to be taking the plunge and just going for it! It will be great to take some pictures like these in this blog, don't you think.

So with that said, have any of you girls considered doing this, think it's crazy, or already have the session planned for once the wedding is done?

DIY Boutonniere
Inspiration Photo

For some of you who have been or are still following my blog from some time back may know that this upcoming weekend is mine and Christopher's one year wedding anniversary!

Our photographer Rebecca Whitney has offered to do a romantic vintage themed beach shoot with us just before and during sunset. We are so very excited and I couldn't think of a better way to spend our one year anniversary.

With that said, I get to wear my dress again which is a beautiful vintage champagne lace Casablanca gown, and Christopher will most likely be wearing tan pants and an Ivory shirt (very romantic beach-like).

Rebecca said it would be great to have some props like a really small handmade bouquet, a boutonnière for christopher and whatever else we can think of. Thus, I will be getting busy on my one out of two DIY projects which is Christopher's boutonnière. This photo here is my inspiration photo and I have some similar materials laying around the house, thus I think I can recreate something vintage chic along these lines just maybe not using as expensive materials. What do you think of this inspiration photo ... I just absoluetly adore this beauty!

Wish me luck ... I'll post a completed project photo when it is finished. i also have to DIY my old vintage flower/feather headpiece into a birdcage veil this weekend too. I have been avoiding it like the plague lol as I am not a great seamstress with things like that ... more crafty .... I love glue guns which i don't think will work on that project!

DIY Birdcage Veil Help Please
I was just wondering if any of you ladies have any experience DIYing a birdcage veil with a feather flower and the netting? If so could you offer this novice some details on what I need or how to assemble? Or a link to your blog would be great!

Are there any of you that have a good link or post about DIYing a birdcage veil ... i'd really super duper appreciate!!!!!!!!! I cam across one long time ago and never saved it ... DARN!

I'd really like any help on what and what not to do as I plan on taking apart my original two flower feather hairpiece I wore for my wedding day. It's a beautiful Alfred Sung hairpiece that cost a lot and I absoluetly DO NOT want to destroy it lol! I'd like to turn it into a one flower birdcage veil similar to the one shown in the inspiration photo on the bottom left.

For those of you who missed my previous post, my husband and I are having a "year after/trash the dress" beach photo shoot before sunset on our 1 year anniversary. How romantic is that eh?!?! Anyways, I always wanted to have a birdcage veil, so I am going to make my own and I need some help from you WBC sisters of mine. Here's so inspirations photo's below.

A Must Read
Trash the Dress/The Year After
It is exactly one month away until our one year wedding anniversary thus I think it is PERFECT timing to share our exciting plans for our anniversary day with my favorite girls.

Our wonderfully talented photographer Rebecca Whitney is taking us to do what I guess you would call a "year after shoot" at a beautifully romantic beach about an hour away from our city. The beach has these really old beautiful wooden Piers which is going to make it so amazing to shoot with. We have the choice of doing it before and during sunset or shortly after sunrise to catch that really pretty light and the colored sky. We are doing a vintage theme of course since my dress is lacy and romantic and Chris will be wearing a white dress shirt and cream colored pants of some sort which will be perfectly vintage. I may look for suspenders too! Rebecca would like us to bring some props ... vintage of course. I am going to bring my late great grandma's vintage hanky, I really want to find a parasol, and I am making/ DIY'ing' my original feather/flower hair piece into a birdcage veil which is what I had originally wanted but my mom wanted more traditional. I need some other ideas for vintage items ... any ideas ladies?

I guess it will also turn into a sort of trash the dress as I will most likely be taking my dress into the water and in the sand. I am sooooo very excited for this shoot and am so happy to share my excitement with my favorite WBC ladies! I am really excited because Christopher and I were origianlly suppose to do a day after shoot but felt so exhausted we skipped it with plans to do it later that week. Well we never got around to it, so Rebecca still wanted to do them and told us we could do them this year if we were still interested ... heck yay!  We were also both a bit disappointed with our wedding photos as I was sick and neither of us felt our greatest! As well, I weighed the most I have ever weighed then so I never feel comfortable with how I looked when i look at the pictures.  I am proud to announce that I have lost 15 pounds since the wedding and am still on the count down! Yay ... so I should feel confident and happy with myself for this next shoot.

Anyways, I am going to share some inspiration photo's with you girls. Aren't some of them beautiful?!?! Any suggestions for props or any pics you guys have ever come across for inspiration?

The piers will look like the ones seen here in the background, just not quite as high I don't think. Also, we talked about having all the pictures edited with this soft vintage feel as all the above photos are ... if Rebecca can't do them like this, then I know who I am contacting - that's right, Mrs. UNPREDICATBLE BRIDE, she did such a great job on her pictures i'll definitely be keeping her in mind.

Keep tuned for my DIY birdcage veil ... I think I shall attempt it this weekend! I may need some help or tips from you crafty brides!

Parasols
I was just wondering if anyone has a parasol for sale from their wedding perhaps or even extra ones they will not be needing? I need it within a month to be exact if possible. If you do not have one, do you have a good place to recommend that I could find them cheap with quick shipping? I will settle for either a simple paper one or a vintage looking one. I'd like to spend under $20 for it plus shipping if it's reasonable. Let me know if you have any or suggestions on where to get one from! Thanks WBC sisters ... greatly appreciated :)

P.S. Isn't this just an absolutely divine picture?!?!?!?!?!? So pretty it makes me speechless!
