DIY Wedding
Memorial Poem...Opinions please!

We have lost 7 immediate family members, so we will have each of their pictures in small frames surrounding one large glass candle holder. I also wanted to add a personal touch by writing a poem for the memorial table. This is my first draft....not sure if it sounds too cliche or not personal enough? Let me know what you ladies think. I'll post the final version once I tweak it.

Thanks in advance for any input...both good & "bad"!

Love is a gift often not requested but freely given
Once received, it will forever change a life.
Even long after the giver is gone from this world
Its inspiration still lives on in our thoughts, hopes, souls.

As we enter this covenant of marriage
We are bringing in little pieces of you.

Thank you for the impact that your love had in shaping us.
You are in our hearts as we celebrate today.

I agree with tashasita, it's beautiful. But the one thing I would suggest to change is a word from the line "its inspiration still lives on in our thoughts, hopes souls" - I would change its to their, as in their inspiration...

I think that's a great idea to honor loved ones who have past. 7? Wow, I'm so sorry. I have my grandpa & grandma who I've rencently lost within the past 6 months. I'm still so sad thinking about it. So I may copy your idea if you don't mind. :)

Thanks ladies, FH said not to change too much either...so I'll probably just tweak it a bit (including futuremrspauk's suggestion!)

@ futuremrspauk, I've only lost my 2 grandfathers, but FH has lost several family members to cancer...I'm so sorry for your loss. That must be really hard to happen before your wedding, but I think this is a nice way to honor them. Definitely use this idea :)
