Wedding Dress
So in love! My FINAL fitting!
I fell in love with my dress all over again the other day at my final fitting. It's all ready to go, I could have brought it home, but Megan brought up a VERY good point, Walter might somehow get to it and that would be the end of it! So it's staying there till the week of the wedding, which really isn't that far away! EEEEK!
I brought all of my accessories to try on with it for the first time. I am SO happy that everything goes together well, at least in my opinion. The pink crinoline and air Jordan shoes might NOT, but, I love what those things mean to me and Ryan. |

Wedding Invitation
FINALLY ORDERED!
Since I do this kind of thing all day long at work, I'm not 100% enthusiastic about doing it all night on my time off. I finally buckled down and made my invitations. They were ordered through where I work on Wednesday, so they should be here no later than Tuesday for me to start assembling and sending out.
The first picture is the inside spread of the invite. I decided to make them a 5x7 folded card. There's only 56 days till the wedding and the invites haven't been sent! EEEEK! I'm actually glad I took my time. I wanted the invitation to be a little preview of what was in store for the wedding "look and feel. I think I captured the essence of what I envision the wedding day being like. I took about 12 hours out of my wedding planning to make these bad boys, I hope you all like them! I also included what the front of the guestbook dust jacket looks like. |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
My wedding band! We got it Saturday!
*** In the picture the pink sort of looks purple, but in real life it's light peachy pink.
I am in love with how my rings look together! I wanted something that was really personal to us and my birthday is in April and Ryan's is in October. Some posts down I mentioned doing our birthstones in my wedding band. Mine is diamond and his is opal, well opals are really fragile and not durable for everyday wear like a wedding ring, so I thought the less expensive tourmaline (also an October stone) would be good. The jewler said even that isn't strong enough, so we opted for pink saphires to represent Ryan's birthstone and of course the diamond for me. So here it is next to my engagement ring. |

Adventures in Crinoline Dyeing
What an adventure! I wanted a medium colored pink. More a peachy-pink than a purple-pink. On the RIT dye website it says for color "pink" mix yellow and rose pink. So I figured alright, let's do this! I went to Walmart and they had the rose pink, but they didn't have yellow. Ryan suggested we get golden yellow that was sitting there calling out my name. I had reservations and probably should have followed my design instincts. But I was just too excited to get home and get some color on my crinoline!
I got everything ready and the water was finally right. I put the dye in and agitated for a few seconds. I carfully put the crinoline in and even though I was excited, I made myself leave the room for a few minutes so I could actually see some color difference. I came in about 5 minutes later and opened the lid...my crinoline was ORANGE! I know, I know, these things take time. The only thing is, instead of turning from orange to pink, it turned from orange to oranger! About 20 minutes in, I stopped the whole thing. I let the crinoline rinse and spin and to my horror pulled out a tangerine dream! It would have been just perfect if I was an orange bride, but I wanted that awesome soft-mid pink and this was SO NOT THAT! I was near tears, but got in the car and went back and got RIT color remover and 2 boxes of rose pink. After the 2 boxes of color remover the crinoline was a really pretty canary yellow...still, not my wedding color though haha. The next morning after waking up about 6 times in the night with nightmares about my crinoline, I got the dye bath ready with the rose pink. After less than 5 minutes in the dye, it was exactly what I wanted and I was sooooo happy. I let it stay agitating for about 40 minutes, then let the cycle finish. I removed it and ran it like they said through a cold water wash cycle and when I pulled it out after it was all said and done it couldn't have been MORE PERFECT! Funny thing is, I don't think I would have gotten it this perfect color if not for the yellow/golden yellow factor. I can't wait to try this on with my dress at my next fitting WOOO HOOOOO! |

Purchased the planters!
We wanted two larger planters and one smaller (to sit between the larger ones) for the church decoration. After the ceremony they'd be moved to the reception for the buffet table. I searched high and low for some French or Victorian looking planters and I finally found them at Lowes. The same sized ones at Walmart were $27 and they weren't even close to as amazing as these ones.
The big ones were only $11.97 each!!! And the smaller one was $6! I was stoked! They are big and will fit all of our beautiful Cascading Orchid Mist Petunias and my Sarah Bernhard Peonies! |

Wedding Dress
The wedding party attire
All of the girls got their dresses and should all have them by the first week in April. SO glad we got it all figured out. Me and 3 of the girls drove a few hours to David's Bridal and they all picked out their dresses. I let them each pick out their own style as long as it was satin and floor length. Without seeing any swatches that weren't on the computer, I told them all to get the color 'Pool' thinking it would be the beautiful baby blue color I'd imagined. Well, my bridesmaid Megan got her dress a few weeks before we went to look for the other 3 girls dresses, and it was so NOT the color in my head! I put one of the groomsmen ties up next to it so you can see it is not the color I thought.
That said...I acutally LOVE the pool color. It has more than grown on me at this point. I like that it isn't so matchy matchy with the groomsmen. aqua, baby blue and turquoise are all in my 'color range' so it will all tie together. Being a designer by trade, I'm not all about matchy matchy anyway. Each of the girls picked a dress that looks amazing on them as an individual, and they get to keep their personalities instead of me deciding what they will wear! I did a very fast mock up using the feature on the David's Bridal website. The girls are all wearing the dress they chose in the color they chose and the guys are wearing sort of what the suit we picked from The Tux Store. They won't be wearing vests either. my dress is just a random one from David's site, it's NOT my actual dress. Also, the dude on the far right is going to be wearing his Coast Guard uniform (he asked if he could and I didn't want to tell him no for fear he may not even show up, then we'd be out a groomsmen and all 3 flower girls!). |

Church Pomanders
I've been working on the 20 church pomanders for almost 2 weeks. I have 5 left to make. They take about an hour for each one. Talk about commitment haha! I actually think they turned out better than I had planned them in my head! So excited to see them in action!
The ivory and pink flowers are cherry blossoms from Michaels spring flower collection. From ebay seller peikuan123 I used Diamante Centered Satin Ribbon flowers and Mulberry Flower with Stem Wedding Lilac. (that's what they were called, they don't look anything like lilacs to me) The bows are from Martha Stewarts Christmas collection from the after Christmas K-Mart sales! The bows are soooooo much prettier in person, therainbow glitterly bits realllllllly sparkle!! |

Ask a Question
What has been your biggest splurge?
We all have various budgets, no matter how big or small, there is always this one thing over budget that we just can't live without! What has been your biggest over budget buy?
Mine is definitely my photographer. I work at Crackle Photography so I got a slight discount, but still the pictures are almost half our entire budget! Another things is the flowers. We did save money on our centerpieces by using nursery flowers, so all in all, I'll only have gone over by about $100 on flowers. And I'm not technically "paying" for them out of our budget, I'm trading work on the florists website for the wedding flowers! So is that a splurge? Haha, I'm rambling, I'll shut it. |

Ignore the mad look on my face. I never know what to do haha. I got my veil on ebay for $22.00! And I totally love it. The pictures really don't even do it justice!
