Ask a Question
Big vs. Small Weddings?

I swear everytime I come on here, I'm frustrated or re thinking or downright depressed.

But this one falls under re thinking. (As said in a previous post, my money tree is dead. So I found a way to cut the cost up to $4000.00. Yes. Thats a lot of money.

So lets shoot some numbers here ladies.

in your big spender wedding do you really need cocktail hour food, dinner food AND a late night buffet?

or is it possible to cut the kids or maybe the wine if you're having a cash bar?

well cocktail came recomended , while were getting pictures and such. late night buffet I don't think we need. Kids, I can't cut them out as much I want too, since every single one of them are family. Also, FH wants the wine on the tables. (Don't know why)

but the thing I like about the "budget wedding" is I can get married in my parents backyard and the place is like right up the street.

On your big wedding would the venue allow you to bring in your own bottles of wine for the tables,  serve only 2 or 3 options for cocktail hour, and buffet meal for dinner instead of served seated meal?

I admit I am a little confused...you are looking at two different venues or two different packages at the same venue? it depends what you guys really want... I am personally a fan of small weddings and I think getting married in your parents backyard sounds like it would be really special. With the budget it seems like it is not all inclusive, which there could be a lot of things that you'd have to pay for yourself and may end up spending more than you think. If you do the Big Spender, I don't think the midnight buffet is essential. It looks like that one includes everything else you may need. The best example is, we could have had our ceremony all -inclusive at our reception location which was very beautiful for $700, but we went with a different spot and ending us spending twice that having to provide everything ourselves and a rental fee for the site.

what every happened to the reception dance only invite? for some guests,  just explain its a family only meal, and open the dance party to everyone else.... as for Wine on the table, a little known secret.... have the wine poured, not left on the table, ppl tend to drink less that way. If a late night buffet is need make sandwiches with family and wedding party ahead of time most can be frozen ahead of time
