Ask a Question
Best Gift Ever?
Hi Current Brides!
I am a Bride who religiously used this website from 2010, and I am now going to be Matron of Honor for my Best Friend's wedding in September. I have a question for any of you who have already had their Bridal Shower... What was your favorite gift you received? I need some ideas. She SPOILED me at my own shower with Victoria's Secret items (which is a big deal because we don't even have VS where I live..yet) I don't want to copy her idea, even though it was a good one. My own favorite gift was definitely our suite for our wedding night from my brother and his girlfriend. AMAZING. They even decorated it for us! But my Best Friend's wedding is in a Hotel so they receive a suite as a part of their package... I would love some unique ideas! Thanks a lot! |

Bridesmaids
A little gift
After seeing these all over commercials, I wanted to try them out myself. And I have to say, they are not that bad!
Fast Flast are made by Dr. Scholls, their purpose, to keep in your purse until your feet start aching from your heels then switch to the flats and keep on partying! I posted them because I thought they would be a cute thing to put inyour BM's gifts especially if you are making survival packages! I gave my girls flip flops, but these are cuter. AND they come with a little gold pouch to keep them in so you can't even tell what is in your purse. They sell for about 9.99 :) Just thought I'd give you all a little idea! |

Flower Girl Dresses
Holiday Dresses = CUTE (and cheap) Flower Girl Dresses!
Last year, I found our daughter's (who was our flower girl) dress at H&M for a wopping 15$! It was black with crinoline and adorable on her... I found one very similar at a Bridal Store for over 180$!
Everyone thought she looked very sweet! And so did I! So after looking around for the perfect Holiday dress for her in stores, I started thinking about how cute some of them would be as flower girl dresses... I seen A LOT at H&M again, in lots of colors! Just because they are "Holiday Dresses" doesen't mean they only come in Red or Black. I found ones in Pink, White, Cream, Black, Red, Purple... and after looking online I have found even more... Here are a few of my favs from Carter's, Baby Gap and Gymboree... And They are all under 55.00!!! Look around ladies, because this is a great time to find them! |

amy1651's advice to New Bride's
Listen Up! :)
Hey Ladies...
Now that my wedding is all said and done, I wanted to give everyone some advice I remember reading one of these from another bride and I found it VERY helpful! Here is my DO's & DON'T's of your wedding!!! DO- surround yourself with bridesmaids that will do ANYTHING for you that day, that will let you have a Bridezilla moment and hold your dress while you pee. My girls were perfect, the day of there was a few things that happened that they didn't even tell me about so that I wouldn't stress, they told me later, when it was okay to laugh about it. They actually did the same thing the day of my stag! There was some drama, and I had NO idea any of it was happening! DON'T- CHEAP OUT ON A PHOTOGRAPHER! I almost went with a photographer who was good, but an excellent price. I seen another bride on here who spent SO much time and effort on all of her wedding details and they were missed because of her photographer. Pictures are very important to me. I decided to switch our photographer just 3 months before the wedding. I was SO lucky she was open that day because she is often double or even triple booked on weekends. Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Because our wedding is a Sunday, she was available. and I am SO happy with what I am seeing so far. DO- Do DIY projects, they do save money and you will be very happy with the effort you put into them in the end. AND when people ask where did you get this?! It is fun to answer, "I Made it!!!" People appreciate little details. DON'T- DO TOO MANY DIY's Projects!!! I had SO many projects lined up, ideas I got from other bride's and really it was just too much. I was so stressed, I bought all of my supplies and then was overwhelmed. Work on one project at a time, the most important ones first and if you don't get to make personalized chair signs, so what? no one cares. I spent hours attaching ribbon to bubbles, and guess what? we forgot to use them. I was upset, because it would've been SO pretty in pictures, but did anyone else stand up and get upset? excuse me? There is no bubbles? We need to stop everything. Absolutely not. DO- Spend lots of time with ALL the guests, My Husband spent a lot of time with his family, and I spent a lot of time with mine, but really we didn't cross over much. Our families get along great, its nothing to do with that. It was just the way it happened. Which I sort of regret. I also wish I would've danced a little less, and used that time to spend it with my new family. DON'T- Get too drunk! My friend was married 2 weeks before me, and she had a lot to drink quickly, and doesn't remember much of her own dance at her wedding. She knows she had a great time but she doesn't remember people saying goodbye or anything like that! I knew this and tried to be very careful, and it worked, I was feeling good, but not until like 900, I didn't want to be drunk in pictures!! DO- bring a pair of flats (or flip flops) I don't care how expensive and comfortable your shoes are, you will be sick of them and walking around in bare feet isn't cute. And your feet will be black from the dance floor!!! DON'T- Listen to what everyone else says. Pretty self explanatory. You will get so many people suggesting things, and telling you what to do WHO CARES. Its yours (and your husbands) day!!!!!!!!!!!! and last but not least... since it is yours and your husband's day... DO- Spend time with HIM. Make an effort to stop and look around. That was the best advice I had from someone, and it worked. I remember specific things from the wedding that I feel like I will always remember. And they all involve my husband. We stopped a few times and said to each other "we're married" "you're my husband, and I'm you're wife" It was sweet. |

amy1651 Signing off...
For now...
Hi ladies,
My Profile says my wedding is today, its not its tomorrow... First I wanted to say thanks for all the wonderful ideas I have grabbed from this website! I hope in one way or another I have also helped at least 1 bride out there! Last night was our rehearsal dinner, and it was Fabulous. We have had a crazy heat wave here in NS, and my in-laws decided to make seafood chowder, chili, and hot wings, and salads. Well everyone was quite warm from all the hot & spicy food! Hurricane Earl, has been downgraded to a tropical storm in my region and it is on its way out. We did lose power for awhile, and my inlaws backyard (where the ceremony will be) has had some pretty big trees fall. But My father-in-law has recruited all of his friends, and called in some favors and has already started chain sawing away. This week has been NUTS. NUTS. SOOOO many things have gone wrong. Its unbelievable... 1.Hurricane Earl, being the worst. Could potentially have ruined our wedding. 2.In the middle of the heat wave I went swimming with my daughter in my best friend's pool and guess what happened... my hair turned GREEN!!!!!!!!!! . . I have been in this pool since I was 5, and I have been highlighting my hair since I was about 15 and this has never happened to me before.... Of course 4 days before my wedding. Solution- Sunlight dish soap and a HEAVY treatment. But then my colour looked so dull. I needed to go to my hairdresser, she put a new coat of toner on it and it is now fixed! 3. I had food poisoning, and was pretty sure I was pregnant. I went to the DR. because I was dealthy ill. He asked if I could be pregnant,/ so I thought to myself. Well ya! I COULD be... So then I was flipping out because I realized I haven't started my period... I have been so busy I didn't even notice! Anyways... I AM NOT PREGNANT (WOO!) and he accounted me being late with stress. and the sickness was just food poisoning. Food poisoning in 34 degree weather is terrible by the way! 4.My photographer's loft was on fire!!! A few of her equipment peices were damaged but she was lucky that majority of her equipment was at her home that day! But still CRAZY. 6.We adopted a 4 week old kitten... don't ask me why we would adopt a 4 week old kitten 4 days before our wedding. But the reason being is because someone left a box of kittens at my fiance's work with a lid on top in 30 degree weather 3/5 died and my FH felt so bad he brought one home... we named it gizmo. He is the sweetest most cuddly kitten I have ever seen. He loves life. But my daughter is NOT gentle with him, and is causing us necessary stress! 5. I am sick. this I am also accounting for stress. Anyways. tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and 22. Perfect. I will log on when we get back from Vegas and post a 3 parter end of my wedding planning journey. I am also going to do a Good, Bad & Ugly! Inspired by Nidhal. I have soooo many tips for new brides. XO. happy Planning |
