regrets...
a few things i would do differently if i could do it again
i would:
-stop working at least TWO weeks before the wedding (i stopped working ONE week before the wedding and at that point we already had out-of-town guests here) -not underestimate the amount of stress that can be brought on by emotions (i'm usually great at multi-tasking but the last days leading up to the wedding i was frazzled!) -finish our programs (unfortunately i didn't get them done in time so we didn't have them... i don't think anyone really missed them but i knew they weren't there when they should have been :( ) -INSIST that my brother NOT arrive at 2:30am on they day of the wedding (he drove from germany and guess who had to meet him at that hour... ME! auuuuuuugghhhhhh!!! unbelievable...) -invite four people (two couples) that we didn't invite because we thought that we would go over on our numbers... in the end we had a handful of last-minute cancellations and we really could have fit them in :( i'm sure there are more and as i think of them i'll add them to the list ;) don't get me wrong... it was an AMAZING day... but if i could do it again i would do these things a bit differently... :) for those of you who've already married... is there anything you'd do differently? |

HELP! photoshop
if anyone could give me a hand it would be GREATLY appreciated!
hello ladies...
well... i can't quite believe that we've been married for FOUR months already! wowowowowow! the wedding was an amazing day for us... so amazing that we had our head in the clouds AND FORGOT TO HAVE A PHOTO TAKEN WITH FRANCESCO'S GRANDMOTHER... yikes! the worst part is that her feelings are quite hurt that there is no photo with the three of us. i asked my photographer if he could photoshop her in and i just saw the results today and i'm NOT loving it. aside from the background which looks off, she looks HUGE... she's really like 5'1" and francesco is close to 6' and they're the same size in the photoshopped photo! can anyone please help? it would be SOOOOOOOOOO appreciated and i'm sure it would bring along lots and lots of postive wedding karma ;) heeheehee! if i upload the photos here i don't think the resolution would be high enough, so maybe i could email them? i'm going to put my email address below but make sure to take out all of the spaces (i'm putting the spaces in so hopefully i won't get 10,000 spam emails at my email address). a m y i 4 4 4 @ y a h o o . c o m thank you so much in advance! if there is something i can do to make it up to you, i'll definitely do it!!! baci amy |

Ask a Question
does anyone else have a monster-in-law like me?
i can hardly stand my MIL... seriously. she drives me C-r-A-z-Y!!!
today i dropped some things by her house and i tried to be the civil DIL and chat with her for a bit (rather than just run off). but i find that just about everything she says IRKS THE HECK OUT OF ME... i walk away feeling completely annoyed and bothered (hence this post... ha! sorry if i'm venting :) ). my MIL & i have COMPLETELY different tastes. in my opinion her tastes are quite tacky. just an example, she's the type that the more flashy jewelry that she piles on the better she thinks she looks whereas i'm just the opposite... i prefer one item that catches the eye and everything else to be understated. i don't have a problem with our different tastes (she can have hers and i can have mine) UNTIL she voices her opinion and critiques or criticizes mine. she has a way of saying things without saying them. just an example... after the wedding she told me that my dress was "reeeeeeeeeally simple" (a.k.a. she didn't like it, i've known her long enough to read between the lines). i purposely did not allow her to see my dress before the wedding because she's the type that would have ruined it for me by making some kind of a comment. also, she didn't have a hand in any of the wedding planning process (but neither did my mom, so she couldn't feel offended) because our tastes are so different i didn't really see the point in it (my husband agreed 100%). today when i was at her house she kept going on & on talking about another girl's wedding (how beautiful her dress was, how beautiful her bouquet was, how beautiful her photos were... yada, yada, yada). the only compliment that my MIL was able to eek out about our wedding was for our caterers (& of course how handsome her son was ;) ). as for me: 0 compliments that i can recall. maybe it's her way of getting back at me for not letting her help plan the wedding? it's not as if we told her she wasn't allowed to help with the wedding, we just made it clear that we were doing everything ourselves. just so that you can understand what kind of person she is... a few years ago i slipped and fell (clumbsy me... i know :P) and hit my head hard enough to knock myself silly and i also somehow managed to cut open my hand in the process (which required quite a few stitches). they wanted to keep me in the hospital overnight for observation (for the knock in the head, not the hand ;) ) but after the CAT came back ok i signed myself out so that i could go home. the following my MIL (FMIL at the time) came to our house with my SIL to keep me company (a nice gesture, i know). problem was that the house was in a bit of a disarray and the VERY last thing that i was worried about in that moment was cleaning house! (i felt pretty horrible.) anway, when they got here she looked the house up & down and said "well, this house certainly looks 'lived in' " i could have killed her. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. of all moments... sheesh. :P i could go on & on (& on & on) recounting all of the different horrible MIL stories... but i don't want to bore you. i'm just wondering... does anyone else have a monster-in-law like me? p.s. i cringe just thinking of what it will be like "un domani" (in the future) when we decide to have a family. i'm going to have to set her straight... and i don't imagine that it will be pretty. :( |

Ask a Question
what will you do with your dress after the wedding?
i was just wondering what your plans are for your dress after the wedding?
i'm not a super sentimental sort of person (i'm actually quite pragmatic). i think that our memories + our photos will be enough for us to remember our special day. with that said, i only had one bouquet & i threw it... i only had one garter & he threw it... and the dress... well... fashion is ALWAYS changing and i really can't imagine anyone else wearing my dress in the future (aside from the fact that it was a size 2 and i barely fit in it myself... ha!). i was offered a vintage wedding dress that belonged to a family member in CHANTILLY LACE... eeeeeeek! i'm sure it was exquisite when the bride wore it but i had to delicately decline the offer & try my best not to offend anyone in the process! i'd hate to put someone in that same position 20 years from now... ;) so here's my plan for my dress: i just took it to be cleaned. when i pick it up, i'll bring it home and store it in an extra closet. "un domani" (italian for "one day") i have plans to use the fabric from my dress to make either a baptism dress (in the case of a baby girl) or vest (in the case of a baby boy) for our future child/children. i have a friend who's a seamstress and she had a look at my dress and told me there's PLENTY of fabric to work with. i've already taken off the two brooches to save (those will be the "piece" of my dress that i'll save and hopefully reuse somehow... they're beautiful!). so i'm pretty happy because i'll be recycling my dress AND the clothing for the baptism will be extra special (and those items i'm sure i'll save :) ). |

wedding photos
our caterer & other misc. photos
in the end we were right around 90 persons...
i was wanting a very simple, modern & minimalistic look to match our tastes... i think we accomplished it! YAY! our centerpieces were just very simple square glass vases filled with red parrot tulips, red calla lilies & red ranunculus (matching my bouquet). |

OMG... things are getting stressful!!!
ok, so i'm starting to run around like a chicken with my head cut off :(
there are only 11 days until the wedding and i'm reallys starting to get stressed. every day there is something that has to be done... urgently! today we have a walk-through at the castle with our catering company and then before 7pm i have to be at the travel agency to pay the balance due on our honeymoon (ouch!)... and that's not including the nine zillion other things i need to do at home for the wedding (finishing up the out-of-town guest bags, finishing up the favors, finishing up this and that and...). tomorrow i'm supposed to meet with our florist, violinist and also stop in at the altelier. MAMMA MIA! so much to do, so little time... i won't be surprised if i have a BIG, FAT zit for the wedding. let's hope not! :P |

family heirloom
i didn't even know we had this...
a few weeks back i asked my grandma if she'd loan me something for the wedding for my something borrowed. it was so funny because she basically responded with "it's about time you asked!" ha! :D LOL.
she told me that she has a handkerchief that she held as she married my grandpa and that HER mom had held it as she married my great grandfather! so now i'll be holding this handkerchief, too! i had no idea about this family "tradition" (my mom is their only daughter that married but she always eloped so she never used it or maybe even knew about it). isn't this sweet? i'm excited that it will be a part of our wedding and knowing its history makes it even more special. :) |
