i had my hair trial this evening and i'm left with mixed feelings... :( i was hoping that i'd walk away with the "WOW it's perfect!" feeling but i'm not quite there... :(
first of all...
hairspray, hairspray, hairspray... i know it's needed but seriously i used almost 1/2 a bottle of conditioner tonight so i could get a comb thorugh my hair :(
back combing... is that REALLY necessary? because i swear it doesn't do anything other than frizz my hair and make it unruly :(
other than the photo where he's getting started the others were actually taken when he started to undo my hair (we then realized we hadn't taken any more photos! OOPS!). before that point there had been a jeweled barette but in these photos it had already been taken out :)
what i didn't really like is the fact that it looks less sleek and glossy than i was hoping :( i don't want to have a fuzzy head on my wedding day...
my friend anne was with me and she told me she's sure that this was the "prova" to get an idea and that she's certain it will be perfect the day of. i don't know... i'm feeling a little discouraged to be quite honest :( if my hair isn't right i feel like it will throw everything off...
i was wanting a vintage-esque style (it needs to be up because my hair is long and i want the details on my dress to be seen).
help! i need feedback. i'm feeling a little depressed at the moment... :(
And I bet it looks even better with the clips in
If you're really concerned about it
then have another trial before the wedding and see if you still have the same feelings about it.
If its too expensive then see if one of your friends or someone close to you who was around (or not) can try and recreate it.
And Hairspray sucks but you're right for most styles its something that is needed and its a while lot better then a gel. Then you would have crunchy not fuzzy hair. Just keep playing with it and chin up.
So from one Amy to another --> Everything will work out to the best, because its your day and you will look beautiful =)
PS I still think that this is a beautiful hair style for longer hair <3
but personally, I think your hair looks pretty great!
Good luck!

I think these are cute vintage updo's!
(And of course, don't wash your hair the day of your wedding; your updo will stay in place MUCH better.)

I have lots of pictures of updos. I think (3) separate posts with tons on inspiration pictures.
Try a site search = scheri updo
i couldn't sleep at all last night because this whole hair situation was just gnawing at me... it's funny because the more time passes the more convinced i am that this IS NOT the hairstyle for me for the wedding.
here in italy it isn't in fashion to do these vintage-esque hairstyles so honestly i think this was maybe a little out of his realm... ?
i'm now rethinking the entire hair scheme... i might do something very polished and classic as opposed to vintage-esqe.
i just didn't feel like ME when i had my hair done yesterday. and from the first day when we started planning the wedding i had always said that i wanted to look like myself on our wedding day (ok, maybe a tad better than the average day but you get my drift ;) ).
now the hardest part... to tell him that i didn't like it without offending him. eek! i'm NOT good at this... :(
And my two cents about the hair...I didn't think vintage when I saw it... I thought Amish from the Midwest. Sorry. I have to be honest. Follow your feelings and go for another try. Xo.
... maybe that's not a fair assessement. I think that I was distracted by all the little hairs that weren't in place. As you say, it looks fuzzy.
Why don't you look on youtube (or other video sites), for instructions on doing your own updo? I learned how to make a nice one with just a hair elastic and a handful of bobby pins when I was in grade school. I used it all the time. You can also buy products to make your hair look shiny.
Give her pictures of what you want and do another trial ASAP. If she is unable to capture the look that you want, then you have to be honest and find a styalist that can :-)
Good luck!
