How many of you ladies are wearing a hooped petticoat instead of or with crinoline?
Just for the heck of it, I got a hooped skirt. I decided to try it on with both of the dresses I am taking apart. I had a feeling that the snow-princess one below ( the one that looks overwhelming) would look better with a hoop, as you would be able to see the detailing more & it wouldn't just be hanging.
So, then I decided to try it on with the other dress. I had always thought of just wearing an A-Line petticoat with it, but decided to go for it just ofr sh*ts & giggles. Well, I must say, that one looks a bit better as well. When I just put the crinoline on with it, it looks like it's hanging as well ( I guess I never thought of it before)
So, I guess my question is this: How many of you are wearing hoops?
How do you go about sitting in one ? ( I assume I'll have to practice this)
Does it make it difficult to move between tables at the reception or to dance (like, will it push backwards & make the back of my dress look funny when doing our first dance & the father/daughter)?
The one plus is that I noticed that I will not need to hemm either one, as the hoop brings it up enough so I'm not tripping (not like that would really matter as I'm taking them both apart)
I will still wear my pint petticoat under it. I actually tried them on with both just to see & it looks fine. I really want to use the pink one, so I'm going to wear it either way.
Sitting was actually surprisingly easy- just sit. You'll probably be smoothing the dress a little under your bottom as you sit anyways and the hoops actually do collapse fairly easily under your dress to the right configuration. I don't think it makes things too difficult to move around since they're made of really light plastic now (and not metal or bone like the old days!) so they are pretty soft if you bump things. Your dress will probably be just as much in the way of getting between tables whether there's a hoop or not!
