When to start?
I am trying to figure out when I should start planning for the wedding. I have the date set for Feb. 2009 about a year away. What comes first and when is a good time to start??? Im lost! Esp. hard because I don't live around any family what-so-ever!

first thing Find a VENUE!! AND IF YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED IN A CHURCH BOOK THAT RIGHT AWAY!! these are the most important in the begining because they get booked right away, and you don't want to have to settle for a second class place becaue everything is booked!! plus, the preacher might have other obligations that might pop up during the year so it would be wise to book the church as soon as possible so that ou have no conflicts in the end.

It's never too early to start planning!! The most important thing is to find the ceremony & reception places & book asap!! Then start looking for a dress.

I think a year is great! I would book the venue, the flowers and maybe the DJ depending on who they are...  thats just me... i have not booked the florist or the dj yet (pulling out my to-do list lol)

I think everything else just falls into place... one mistake i made was picked a dress for my bridesmaids that was not a "bridesmaids" dress and its discontinued!! so i would pick a dress that  will for sure be around in a year :)

good luck!

Church and Reception site first like the other ladies said. I bought a wedding planner book called: The Bride's Book of Lists: Things to Do & Questions to Ask by Amy Nebens. I bought it at Chapters and it is great. It gives you a step by step guide and checklist along with questions for vendors, things I didn't think to ask. It was a big help for me and I'm using it daily to check off things I need to get done. It has everything you will need to help get you started. It is showing online for $12 but I paid like $16 for it in store.
