First Dance Song
I think I've found it!!!
John and myself have been looking for that first dance song since we got engaged. We wanted something that was from the 1930-1940's . What I found tonight was a song by Irving Berlin writtin in 1925 as a wedding gift to his soon to be wife! It's called Always. I love it but I still have to get John to have a listen. I have to say that it's a song that has been done by many artists over the years and I like the Frank Sinatra version the best. You might not know who Irving Berlin is but this song might ring a bell for yha, seeing as it is the season, he wrote the song "White Christmas" which was sung by Bing Crosby!!! ![]() |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
I got my FH ring today!!!
So today John and myself were walking though the mall, just trying to kill time before he went to work when we stopped in at a Mappins store. We told the lady that we were just looking and she showed us some rings. When John saw this one he was like that's the one I want. So he tried it on and it fit!!! Titanium is really hard to fit so the fact that it fit him was great, no ordering needed. Plus we got it for 40% off!!! So we got a great deal for a fantastic ring that he loves. I'm sooo happy and so is the budget girl in me :D It's a Titanium ring with a diamond inset. When we get enough money down the road we are going to get custom made rings done. But for now this is awsome. ![]() |

Ask a Question
So what music have you picked??
OK, It's late and I can't sleep so I went on youtube to check out wedding songs and I couldn't believe it. Almost all the videos I looked at had slow slow instrumental songs for everyones walk down the isle, not just the bride! I was wondering what you girls are picking for your party to walk down the isle too?? We were looking for Jazz music but not the normal, over heard songs, lol ![]() |

Wedding Cake
We Made a Cake for Our Friends Wedding
So a couple of our good friends got married and it was pretty low key. They ask FH and myself to make a speciality cake of a Mark V Diving Helmet. Both my FH and her husband are Rescue Divers with the CCG. I thought it would be cool to put up an unusual cake for weddings. The whole cake was edible, exculding the carboard we used to stack the cakes and the wooden support beams for the headpiece of course. It was alot of fun to make and it was the first cake FH and myself worked on together. No one at the reception could believe that it was a cake until the Bride and Groom cut into it and started passing out it out, lol. We did learn that Hawaiian wedding cake ( its kinda like a fruit/pound cake) is too heavy of a cake to do this type of cake. But after all the work, it tasted Fantastic :D ![]() |

Woh, What a week
Busy Busy Busy
So John and I have been uber busy these last couple of weeks. So far we have booked the ceremony and reception sites. Got a JP to perform the ceremony (we hope, Johns mom has been taking care of this), Booked our Baker for our cake and we went to taste some of her cakes too. MUMMMM I think that had to be my favourite part. This sunday we are going to our first wedding expo and then I will be going to try on wedding dresses for the first time with my mom the week after the wedding show :D WE also have an apt with the florist to discuss flowers, kinds and of course cost! John has decided that since he doesn't get to see my wedding dress till the day of the wedding I shouldn't get to see something too. His pick, the wedding cake. Which I am wayyyy ok with seeing as he used to be a professional pastry chef. I got to taste the cakes then was sent to the car so they could discus the design. These are the cakes we tasted. 1. White Cake with Lemon Butter cream filling 2. Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Cream Cheese filling 3. White Cake with Chocolate gnash 4. Chocolate Cake with Grand Marine Butter cream My Favorite was the White with the Lemon Butter cream, It was sooo good. My second was the Chocolate Cake with the raspberry Cream cheese filling. I thought the Chocolate Ganshe over powered the white cake and I'm not a huge fan of grand marine(orange) so that was my lest favourite, However it was Johns 1st pick (he really likes orange). So I know the the bottom two teris (yha so cant spell) are the Lemon, the 3rd tear is the Raspberry cream cheese and the top tear is the Grand Marine, other than that I have no clue what shape or colour the cake is going to be. I cant wait to see it on our wedding day. In other Non wedding news, I quit my job. I found out that I'm not really that good at selling. Customer Service, I'm great at but pushing products on people, not so much. I didn't want to add to my stress level (If I don't sell a certain number of products a month I could be fired) so I said, Screw this and Quit. I'm going to get my first aid again and apply at the Hospitals to work as a Nurse's Aid again. So here's hoping I can get a job there so we can save some extra cash for the wedding, cause everyone knows weddings always end up costing more then you budget for, lol. But until then I am on the island taking care of Johns parents house and dog while they are on their first vacation in 25 years (they went to China!) So I think that's about all for now :D ![]() |

Wedding Invitation
I think we have a winner!
John and I are going for a little bit of a theme wedding, as in it's not going to be the main focus but have hints of it here and there. We are looking at the 1930's because both of us love jazz and some (not all, lol) of the fashions of that time, mainly John wanting to ware a pin strip suit and a fedora (this combo can also be called a Zoot Suit). So when we were going though one of the Invitation mags that I got sent to me and we saw the "Honeymoon" invite we both fell in love with it. I've asked for a sample to be sent to us so we don't order and realise that we don't like the real thing. What do you all think??? ![]() |
