DIY Wedding
Incorporating Childhood Photos
... On our table numbers! We put the corresponding age with the number on the table. Table 1 has a card with both me and my FH when we were one year old, etc.
Gathering the photos has been quite the project so I only have 1-6 so far. Is anyone else incorporating childhood photos into their wedding? I hope people won't think it's cheesy or too vain! |

DIY Cardbox
Another completed DIY project, from start to finish :)
I bought all the supplies at Hobby Lobby. Got a sturdy hat box made of cardboard ($5), a bottle of cream-colored acrylic paint ($2), ribbon ($2), some silk flowers ($4) and a sheet of cool paper for the top (less than $1). I just hope it's big enough for all the cards! |

$200 Wedding Dress
I ordered my dress brand new directly from China on ebay. I figured most wedding dresses come from factories in China, why not cut out the middle man? (ei, the bridal salon). The dress was $200 plus shipping which was $60, for a total of $260. I am so happy with it! They made it to fit my measurements, and I even asked them to change some things about the original design- I added pleating around the middle.
It took about 30 days for them to make it, and then they mailed it to me in the smallest vacuum-packed package. When I opened it, it was quite wrinkly but beautiful! I just thought I would share my experience in case any one else is thinking of ordering from China. I ordered from Landybridal since they seemed the most reputable: http://stores.ebay.com/landybridal. I definitely recommend getting a lace-up back because it makes the dress fit you like a glove without any alterations. Even the most expensive dresses can look cheap if they don't fit right, in my opinion. I was lazy and didn't fully lace it up which is why the back looks a little disheveled in the picture :). Also, the train is really long, so it looks all poofy in the back. Oh, and I ordered a mermaid-style petticoat from China to give it more umph. |

Honeymoon
Found a great deal on a all-inclusive resort for honeymoon!
We booked our trip to Cancun for 5 days for $750 a person. (that included everything- flights, hotel room, all food and beverages at the hotel, transportation to and from the airport.) We found this 4-star resort (Gran Melian Cancun) on Expedia and it has really good reviews, so I thought I would share it with you all in case anyone else trying to have a fabulous honeymoon without spending a year's salary! The all inclusive package is an extra $45 a night each person, but I think it's so worth it. It would have been $611 a person if we didn't do the all-inclusive package. Here's their website:
http://www.granmeliacancun.com I suggest going to Expedia, though, because they have hundreds of unbiased reviews and seem to have the best deals. I'm so excited! Just wondering though- we are going end of May-early June. Has anyone been to Cancun that time of year? I read it's really hot and humid, but I'm hoping it won't be unbearable! |

Hand-made DIY Boutonniere
I have decided to take on the task of arranging my own flowers. I am going to be ordering fresh flowers on Costco.com for most things, including all the bouquets, but I thought I would make the groom's and groomsmen boutonnieres from silk floral items found at the craft store. They don't really care anyway, and it makes for one less thing I need to do right before the wedding.
I purchased a bunch of different floral stems from Joann's fabric today (they were buy one get one free!) along with some ribbon. I snipped off the ends of the flowers/leaves/stems that I wanted to use with wire clippers. Then, I arranged them and wrapped them with floral wire to hold in place. Finally, I wrapped ribbon around the stems and secured with a glue gun. They take about 5 minutes each. |
