I ordered my dress brand new directly from China on ebay. I figured most wedding dresses come from factories in China, why not cut out the middle man? (ei, the bridal salon). The dress was $200 plus shipping which was $60, for a total of $260. I am so happy with it! They made it to fit my measurements, and I even asked them to change some things about the original design- I added pleating around the middle.
It took about 30 days for them to make it, and then they mailed it to me in the smallest vacuum-packed package. When I opened it, it was quite wrinkly but beautiful!
I just thought I would share my experience in case any one else is thinking of ordering from China. I ordered from Landybridal since they seemed the most reputable: http://stores.ebay.com/landybridal. I definitely recommend getting a lace-up back because it makes the dress fit you like a glove without any alterations. Even the most expensive dresses can look cheap if they don't fit right, in my opinion.
I was lazy and didn't fully lace it up which is why the back looks a little disheveled in the picture :). Also, the train is really long, so it looks all poofy in the back.
Oh, and I ordered a mermaid-style petticoat from China to give it more umph.
There are slight flaws (like the pleating does not lay as flat as I would like it to in one spot), but I didn't expect the quality to be as good as a $2000 designer dress. For $200 or even $700, the quality is great. If you are going to order from China, I suggest sticking with something fairly simple in cut. The beading and detailing seems to be where they really do a good job.
I'll see if I have pics of the original. I modified the design a bit, but it is still very close!
