Ask a Question
Which father walks me down the aisle?
This question ive been trying to figure out for a long time. So let me give you some background...
My biological father and my mom divorced when i was 7 because my dad was an alcoholic. I stopped talking to my dad for 2 years, and just not started talking to him a couple months ago. Things have been going very well and im afraid he's going to expect that hes walking me down the aisle. My Step-dad on the other hand i grew up with and hes been my "dad" for over 10 years. However, he doesnt treat me like his daughter and i dont see him as a fatherly figure at all. Hes disrespectful to my mother and me sometimes. Hes getting better but still i dont really want him walking me down the aisle either. I would rather he did then my real dad. Just cause my real dad hasnt been there for me for a long time. But heres the thing, my mom and step dad hate my dad. And my step dad said at one point that if my dad came to the wedding he wouldnt show up. Which i found kinda immature and i was confused that he wouldnt show up to my wedding just because my REAL father was going to be there. The way i see it is its MY day and i should have whoever i want there. But there is one other person that i may possibly want to walk me down the aisle. The one person whos been the only real father figure i look up to. And who treats his wife with respect and me, and his son. I look up to him and i would love for him to walk me down the aisle. But hes my fiance's dad. I know thats really uncommon. People probably never do that. What do you guys think? Who should walk me down the aisle? |

The Proposal
Sneaking out late at night
So our proposal wasn't anything spectacular. Like i said, in my first post we were only 17 when we got engaged and we were quite immature. Our parents were up in arms about us having sex before marriage (Which we now don't anymore.) and we weren't allowed to see each other alone at anytime and we were not allowed to be in the car together under any circumstances. Now i know what you're thinking. Don't worry it only lasted like two months. But it was a difficult two months.
Anyways, Ryan's mom was the only one home that night so he snuck out of the house and came over to my best friends house where i was. I knew he was coming over but i didn't know he was going to propose. I don't remember all that happened right before he proposed but i know i was kinda upset about something so jokingly i turned my back to him and crossed my arms. He wanted me to turn around and when i did he was down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and then it was done. Like i said nothing spectacular but i was happy he did it. Now when we got engaged we were so young and naive and we were definitely very immature. But through the leadership development group that we worked we were constantly surrounded by adults with a higher thinking, and we read a lot of self help books, and listened to leadership CD's. I can honestly say, that I am not sure we'd still be together if it wasn't for doing all of that. Today at the age of 19 we are now more mature then most 25 year olds. The way i see it about us being young and engaged is that if your mature and you read self help books, especially about marriage and relationships. And you go into the marriage knowing that its not gonna be all grins and giggles and its gonna take hard work. There is no just "Happily Ever After." A true thriving relationship takes work. Ryan and I have realized that at our age. So we are on a good path. Plus if you look at our great great grandparents they were getting married even younger then my fiance and I. And their divorce rate is so much lower then the 50% of marriages that are failing today. And i a truly believe that Ryan and I wont be apart of that 50%. So ladies, i encourage you. Before you walk down the aisle and say, "I do." Get these few books. -Becoming the Woman of his Dreams -His Needs, Her Needs -For Women Only These books will help you immensely, and heck they've helped me to have a better engagement. They're not just for married couples. So go buy those books and dig into them. Especially if you don't want to be apart of that 50%. Have a Wonderful Day! |

The One thing my wedding will have, that most others wont!
Lots of Service Dogs
There will be one or should i say SEVERAL of the same thing at my wedding. SERVICE DOGS! I used to work with a service dog program when i first got Levi. And i still stay in contact with many of the adults that have kids with service dogs.
In the picture is two of the service dogs that will be there. Jane(Right) will be walking down the Aisle along side Levi (Middle) with her hadler Sofia who is also on the right. But those wont be the only service dogs at my wedding. If everyone comes there will probably be about 4 service dogs. Which means there will also have to be special seating for them during the reception with extra room around the table. Most of the dogs are pretty big. We have Toby whos a Golden Retriever mix, Clifford who's a boxer lab mix (hes pretty husky), Jane a golden retriever (whos the smallest), and then Levi whos 110 pounds of yellow lab, german shepard, and great dane mix. All the dogs are over 70 pounds so itll be interesting working out spacing for their table. But at the same time i dont wan to section them off from the rest of the tables like their rejects or something. lol. But they need the room. |

Engagement
Engagement Photos
Here are a couple of our photos from our engagement session. The photographer was Katlyn Veltri (Pflederer). Its called First Love Images. Shes based out of Chicago. I love her work especially for engagement photography.
These were taken almost 2 years ago, (no we have not gotten married yet). We were only 17 when we got engaged and we had a lot of growing up to do. But the wedding date and theme as finally been set. My sister did this website so i figured i could have fun with it too! We will be redoing our engagement photos mid summer because im actually losing weight, and Ryan is trying to put on muscle. Ryan also got a hair cut since this shoot and his hair is much shorter. So by then we will look much different. You will also notice that in some of the pictures there is a dog. His name is Levi! He is my service dog for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have had him for a little over 2 years now. He will be the ring bearer. And my best friends service dog, her name is Jane. She will walk to down the aisle as well. I have to make it even. haha. Hope you enjoy these photographs though :] |
