The names we've come up with thus far are:
-Eternal love elixir
-forever love fruit punch
- the bride and groom
-Mister and Misses
- forever in a glass
** Tall dark and handsome
-Saddle Ride Sweet tea (where we met)
- Eli's sweet talker
-Colorado Cool-Aide (where we currently live)
-Kendra caught a good one
**yup, I wooed him (play on the drink name)

Names with stars are my favorites

Change of dress
So...After going to David's Bridal and trying on dresses, we learned really quickly that the dresses I selected were not the best for my bridesmaid's body types. The new dresses flatter and accentuate everyone's curves and they feel comfortable in them. The pictures to the left are of the new dresses in black.

Bridal Party gifts!
We have FINALLY selected and purchased gifts for our bridal party. Each member of the party (with the exception of my husband's 16 year old brother) will receive a shot glass with his/her role in the wedding party on it. The bridesmaids will receive makeup bags with their first initial stitched into the design. Inside they'll find a $15 gift card to MAC with a little note that says "Thanks for helping us 'make up' our special day!" Hostesses will receive satin jewelry bags with their first initial. Inside they'll find a note that says " Thanks for helping make our day beautiful". All of the ladies will also receive pearl jewelry. The Groomsmen will receive stainless steel martini shakers with their position in the wedding party along with their nickname from playing football. My 16 yo BIL will receive a glass mug that has his name and reads "world's best brother". Both mothers will receive heart keys with a gemstone and a note that says "Even though my heart is joined with another, you will always have the key to my heart". Lastly, my FIL (my hubby's stepfather) will receive cuff links with his initials inside a monogrammed keepsake box that reads " Anyone can be a father, it takes a special man to be a dad". I hope they love their gifts as we have worked long and hard to find things that will let them all know how special they are to us.

Wedding Dress
Not 1, but 2...
Hello again WBC! It's been 8 months since I've found the time to blog but I've been busy planning my wedding from across the country while in graduate school full time! Since we last spoke, I have gotten not one but TWO dresses through the Brides Across America program for FREE. Additionally, when I mentioned to the owner of my venue that I didn't have a head piece she informed me that a bride brought a beautiful veil and tiara with swarovski crystals that SHE NEVER WORE because it didn't go with her hairstyle. She proceeds to tell me that the bride donated this BRAND NEW (tags still attached) veil/tiara to the venue to be given to another bride. Yup, you guessed it...I am now the proud owner of a brand new, never worn, $400 veil/tiara and it cost me $0. I am truly blessed! Can't wait to post pictures after my nuptials in 13 days!!!!

Transportation
I found my vintage getaway car!!!
So, I've been looking for weeks and a vintage getaway is hard to come by in the Tidewater area of VA. Well, I found a 1963 White Rolls- Royce MPW Phantom V-Formal limousine that fits perfectly into our "vintage glam" theme. I can't wait to ride away in style with my hubby!

...bridesmaid dresses...check!
I picked out some beautiful black gowns for my bridal party! They are timeless designs that will be accented with pearl/diamond jewelry and a red rose in the hair. The picture is of the dress my two bridesmaids will wear. The link below is of my maid of honor's dress.

Wedding Reception
I found a venue!!!
I currently live in CO and our nuptials will be held in VA. During our trip back home last week, I found the perfect venue for our "Vintage Glam" wedding. The venue is called The First Lady of Suffolk. It is an old, well maintained mansion with all the vintage charm I've been looking for. Better yet, they offer a great deal for those willing to wed during the week! The package includes my damask tablecloths, venue from 9am -10pm, decorations, catering...everything!!! This was truly a blessing as our wedding budget is very tight. We will be having our ceremony and nuptials in the same location...and on a Thursday to take advantage of this great deal. I was really stressed out about planing this wedding from across the country but now I'm beginning to get excited again!

Not quite like I envisioned, but I'll never forget it...
So...After my soilder completed basic and job training he was sent from our home in Hampton, Va to Colorado Springs, CO. Almost immediately after arriving at his permanent duty station he was informed that he would be leaving for Iraq for a year. I flew out to see my honey one last time on Valentine's day 2010. I was violently ill from the altitude adjustment but he insisted on taking me out for this beatiful dinner. At dinner, it seemed that he was "interviewing" me one last time to ensure that he wanted to make such a big step. My honey asked me if I wanted to go to a lookout point with beautiful rock formations following dinner. I declined and asked him to take me back to the hotel as I was still not feeling well. I turned to put on my seat belt and when I looked up there was a beautiful ring in my face. I aked my honey, "is this what I think it is"? He nodded and began to cry. And then I began to cry. My honey seemed to have lost his voice. I told him that I needed to hear him say it. My honey asked me the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, "Will you marry me? I love you". Of course I said yes and we cried together. Five days later we were married at the Justice of the Peace. Five days after that I was on a plane back to Virginia and the following week he was sent to Iraq.

DIY Wedding
Hello WBC!!!!
Hello ladies! I am a newly- wed (2/19/10) to a wonderful man who is enlisted in the US Army. We were married in a civil ceremony 1 1/2 weeks prior to my honey being sent to Iraq for a year. I am now looking forward to finally having the "show" for our second anniversary (as he will still be deployed on our 1st aniversary). However, we have a small wedding budget (>$10K) and I know that in order to have a dream wedding I will need to DIY alot of things. Any suggestions? I am not the most artistic so I forsee this process being extremely challenging. Not to mention I will be relocating to CO the week after X-Mas in preparation for my honey's return in Feb/Mar but the wedding will be held in our hometown of Hampton, VA. I am looking at damask and deep red as my wedding colors and I am leaning towards a vintage wedding theme.

Thanks in advaance WBC
