So, let's do *exactly* what *we* want.
Or, how seeing other people's weddings completely changes the math.
So, over the summer, the man and I went to two weddings that really were on the opposite ends of the wedding scale, my brother's and the man's best friend's.
They both involved themes, but that really is the only thing they had in common. One involved at least one someone going into debt for it, it had a mother of the bride that, in my opinion (and everyone else's, I think) needed a muzzle and someone to have picked out a dress more becoming a 50 year old mother, than one designed for a 17 year old with very little modesty. :p I'd frankly have been embarrassed to death were I in the bride's place. It involved a crapload of pomp and circumstance, and very nearly made Paul and I decide just to go to the courthouse to get married. lol The other was very simple, the ceremony took all of ten minutes, and was lovely, and the reception completely rocked. So, as we look at these two weddings, Paul and I are really really thinking about rethinking the whole ceremony. It's kinda crazy, really, but while I am a very...I'll say exuberant, because it's a nicer word than, say, obnoxious (*grin*), Paul is distinctly not, and we know that we can figure out a wedding and reception that will be amazing for both of us, and for our guests. So, even the date is subject to change over the next little bit (We've been together 9 years, moving the wedding date around a month or so either direction, at this point, is not a big deal to either of us) while we figure out what exactly we want. You'll notice I've changed my color again, I'm really toying with autumn colors, at the moment, which, as with everything, is subject to change again over the next month or so. *laugh* |

I love the lilies. This is closer to the colors I want. Lilies, so pretty. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Cake
I think I've mostly decided how I want it.
See, a very good friend is going to make our wedding cake for us. She's *amazing* with cakes, and I'm excited that she's willing to make our cake for us.
To that end, I've been scouring the 'net, trying to decide what I want the cake to look like. It was a given, pretty early on that I wanted a fondant cake, because I think the fondant just looks so lovely. I've also noticed a pattern in the bazillion photos I've saved to my hard drive, so I think I have a pretty good idea what I want. I'm all in love with how lovely calla lilies are, and want them all over the place. Also, these cakes are not indicitive of my color choices(which have changed *already* haha, to be along the lines of midnight blue, deep purple, and silver/gray), and I will want the cakes to be 3 tiered, but not stacked. They'll be on three pedestal thingies. This is just an idea. :) |

Where to start?
Or, Oh the *CHOICES*!!!
So, I have a little over a year for this. *panic*! Goodness.
So, for a little background. This will be my second marriage, Paul's first. So far, I'm still trying to pick colors. Right this second, I'm thinking about Pale grey, pale pink, medium blue. But if I can't find a pale pink dress that doesn't either look like it's straight out of a Disney movie, or I find something in another color I like better, I'm not afraid to change my mind. *laugh* And I say *I* a lot, when I kind of mean *we*. See, Paul and I have been together for 8 and a half years now, so I think this will be a very mellow process. The only things that I know I'm going to be completely "type A" about are going to be the cake and the dress. Everything else is negotiable. *laugh* And so far, he'd "Prefer" not to wear anything pink. The other thing is that we'll be doing this on a pretty tight budget, so my goal will be to "gypsy trade" my way through planning, with calling a lot on friends and DYI'ing where I feel comfy doing it. Anyway, Hi! And here is where I'll be randomly posting my progress(Or lack of) as things go along. ~Tracie |
