September Brides
Next Month... Already. How is that possible?!?!
So I wasn't able to get on here yesterday to post this, but can you believe we are in AUGUST already?! That's nutty!! That means I can now say, "I am getting married... NEXT MONTH!"

Sooo... I've gotten a few things done (i don't have pictures of everything, but I will update them!)

Favors- So I did part of my favors before I had my WBC account, and I certainly could have used you ladies for advice. I ended up making wine charms. 300 wine charms to be exact. By hand. Yes, I am insane. The issue with these little babies is that they are a small charm, they don't stand out on their own at all. So we decided to tie them to favor bags with a Dove chocolate in fall colors and a little note included. Stuffed! Check!

Invites- I haven't sent mine out yet, I know, 53 days until the wedding. I just didn't want them to be so early that people would forget. They are hopefully going out on Friday or a next Monday, our RSVP date is 09/10 (tee hee) so that still gives them slightly more then a month to get them back to us. BUT they are stuffed and ready to go, all they need is to be sealed, I've heard sponges are the way to do it? No paper cuts on this brides tongue.... :o)

Programs- PRINTED! I am just doing single front back 4.25x11 sheets which are half of a 8.5 x 11. They just need to be cut down the middle, hole punched in the top and then have ribbon laced through the with beads tied on the ends.

OOT Bags- Coming along B-E-A-UTIFULLY! I'm so excited. I just have a few more purchases from Sams club and then these beauties will be ready to stuff! Ps. Maybe I haven't mentioned since my last post how much I love Vista Print... I'm currently looking for a therapist that specializes in my specific obsession. BUT my point being that I made brochures to go in the bags and they look AMAZING, so professional and great, I just couldn't be happier with them!

Usher Attire- So male attire has been an on going battle between me and the FH. You will never guess the sides we are on. Autumnbride= gray pants and a maroon shirt/ tie or at most a suit with no vest or jacket. FH= TUX no budging. Crazy huh? Who'd of thunk it. Literally will not budge. I tried explaining to him that we are getting married outside at a vineyard, not the country club. But alas, I lost. Anyway, long story short I think that the Ushers should look different from the groomsmen. So, I found the perfect shirts for them, they are a burgundy color with slight satin stripes (say that 5x fast haha), with black pants and black ties. Best part? the shirt were orginally $50, I got them on sale AND had a coupon. hellllloooo $17.49 a shirt. Way to go me! Plus, I put it together and it looks great! I was afraid they might look like waiters, but they dont! haha, the shirts are in today, I just have to pick them up!

I have more projects here and there but these are the majors, and we have engagement pictures on Sunday so once those are done I can order my guest book! Woot!

My name is Kate,
and I have an unhealthy obsession with Vistaprint.
But admitting it is the first step, right?

Ladies, I'm not sure how it happened, all I remember is looking at MacBride's post about making a pen on Vistaprint to use for her guestbook, and thinking "what a great idea! I should do that"

Now here I am, an hour later, and a cart full of Vistaprint items, and I'm not done yet.

Three pens (two different ones for guest book and one as a gift for my mom)
A FOTB hat for my daddy
Just Married t-shirts for the me and the FH on our honeymoon
Thank you notes to put in my OOT bags
A window decal and business cards for KD Photography (my photography business

My name is Kate... and I need to close Vistaprint before I get more out of control....

OOOH LOOK!! Tote bags.... :o)

Counting My Chickens Before They Hatch...
or something like that.
Well whatever saying you use, I am going to keep thinking positive because the weather.com is!

I'm getting married in September in Iowa. For those of you that don't live here, there is no such thing as a safe season. Our weather changes so much year to year since we have all four seasons that it is so hard to predict what your going to get on any one specific day. My MOH got married 2 years ago on September 27th (it was not intentional on our date picking part to be so close.) And it was hoooooooot, sooo hot. Last year, it snowed the first week of October.

But, weather.com seems to think that we're in luck. 77 degrees and cloudy (trust me girls- cloudy is better when it comes to outdoors and outdoor pictures. Reduces squinting!)

PERFECT WEATHER!! All I could ask for is the leaves to be changing. FH thinks that I shouldn't get my hopes up this far out, which I'm not. But at least its nice to know that good weather is predicted!

Here's the site I used if you are interested and want to check the weather for your date!

Centerpieces
Whoa, holy MIA, Autumn2010bride! Apparently when I get busy I neglect to post things... Sorry!

I would just like you, Lovely Lovely Ladies to know. That one half of my centerpieces are complete. Amazing you say? I have 66 short days until the wedding, you say? Yes I know. I need to get my rear in gear.

So at our reception we have smallish circle tables that seat 8. We have about 30 tables (plus or minus depending on rsvps) so I made 17 of these bad boys, and then the second centerpiece isn't quite done yet but I included pics of it's work in progress.

I have since changed Centerpiece 2 a bit. Still having the wrapped bottle, still the wine glass with the corks. Only change is we are ditching the chunk of wood in the front with the candle (it's just too much I think- I'm moving those candles to guestbook table and cake table). Instead I am tying a bow similar to centerpiece #1 around the neck of the glass, and putting wheat or curly willow in the mouth of the bottles.

Maybe putting a mini LED light in the bottles to add some mood lighting? I bought 100 lights for my paper lanterns - I only need like 25- , but I don't know what kind of batteries they use? Any idea?

To Fruit or Not to Fruit
To Fruit or Not to Fruit

To Fruit, or Not to Fruit...
That is the question....
This dessert bar will be the end of me yet, I swear it!!

So I have been having the WORST time with bakeries, they want to charge me an arm and a leg to produce a decent dessert buffet. We could practically have just had a full meal with some of the prices we have gotten.

My other issue is that I would much rather support an individual bakery then a huge overpriced cooperate one. I guess that private photographer in my talking.

So after months of frustration, the skies opened and I found a bakery to answer my prayers. Great prices, she delivers and she is a sweet heart!

This is what she is supplying...

> Apple pie tarts
>
> Chocolate chip cookies
>
> Lemon bar bites
>
> Mini cheesecakes
>
> Parisians
>
> Peanut butter kisses
>
> Brownie Pops
>
> and obviously wedding cake

In addition we would have a mini candy bar to fill favor bags with.

My question is would you also do fruit? That is where things get a bit tricky and pricey. We would be buying it from a restaurant supplier, so number one we would have to pick it up the morning of, which isn't a huge deal, but it's a bit inconvenient.

What do you think? I know we will have at least one diabetic person, so maybe I should....

Thoughts?

Card Box?
Check!

I have been having an internal battle because I originally found the cutest idea for a card box (see picture) but I have really been struggling to find a wine barrel that would work.

Call me cheap (I prefer thrifty) but I can't justify $40 or $50 for a card box, and that's just for the barrel, that wouldn't include the extra decor and work it would take to get it to where I would want it to be.

SOOO... yesterday I ordered my second choice. It's cute and much more cost effective ($22), it's a cork basket that I think will work great since we can use it again after the wedding for it's intend purpose of collecting corks (the FH and I are a bunch of wine-os)

I'm pretty happy with my decision, but whenever I see my original inspiration picture I get a little sad...

ahh well

The Arch...
or Arbor or whatever you prefer to call it.... whatever it is, I need to get moving on it.

The FH and I decided it would be a cool "bonding" experience to build our own arch to get married under, and then put in our garden after the wedding.

Awesome idea in theory, in actuality... neither one of us is very good at constructing things. I have been reading a grooms blog that has been building one by hand for his bride (how romantic, right???)

We are going up to my dad's this weekend (I am originally from the middle of nowhere Iowa up in the really hilly corner by Minnesota) and we are going to start collecting branches so we can begin constructing the darn thing sometime soon.

So I guess what I am asking is any helpful hints? Any DIY (with instructions) sites that you've seen on how to make one of these bad boys without it crashing down on us in the middle of the ceremony?? Are we completely crazy to try this?? haha!

Memory Tree
Hiya Ladies! How was your weekend?

So I'm starting to think about moving into my Memory Tree project. I know this may sound silly, but how are you weighting your tree down? I guess I am going to put it in a glass container, but when I tried it, the tree got a little tippy and didn't say put well... anyone else have this problem?

Ask a Question
Dessert Reception Foods
I know, I know. First day as a WBC bride and three posts?! Crazy!! :o)

Our ceremony is at 6:45 and then the reception will directly follow (so it will start at approx 7:15ish). Due to the late time of night, we are only having a dessert reception instead of having a full meal.

Where is my question, you ask? I'd be happy to tell you...

#1.) On our wedding website (which was included in our save the date emails and will be included in the invites) we clearly spell out that it is a dessert reception, and politely remind people to grab a bite to eat on the way to the ceremony so that they can stay and dance all night. Also our invite states "dessert reception to follow" incase the invitee isn't a computer person. Do you think that the time, and the fact that the invite says it's a dessert reception will be enough for people to know to eat before they come??

#2.) Also, I am a little concerned about not having enough food options for a dessert reception.

We are having cake- obviously haha- but it's kind of a heavy pound cake instead of the traditional fluffy big pieces of wedding cake. (its really good, but we probably wont have huge pieces)

as well as... Mini- Cheesecakes, Mini cookies, regular cookies, fruit, nuts, mints. (we were originally going to do bars or brownies as well, but we are thinking that might be too much cake type food).

Then we are not going to have a full on candy buffet, but spread out through the dessert table I am going to fill oversized wine glasses with a few different candies (m&ms, chocolate covered peanuts, red hots, ect).

Do you think these are enough options?

Parents Gifts
Okay, so Christmastime is hard enough to think of gifts for 5 parents (FH's 2 and my 3). I have literally no good ideas for parent gifts for the wedding. Wedding party- yes. Parents- no. Any suggestions? What are you guys doing for your parents? We thought about doing something wine related since the ceremony and reception is at a winery... Thoughts??
