Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Wedding Bands
I went with my fiance to Spence Diamonds to buy our wedding bands today... apparently we are doing this at the absolute last minute, and most people order their wedding bands like six months before the wedding, not two. OOPS! Anyways, mine they actually had in the store so that was good, but my fiance's had to be special ordered because he needed a size 12 which they don't carry. So we had to drop $750 right off the bat today because you have to pay in full for special orders. UGH. Good thing it was payday today! His ring will be in by July 10 which is cutting it VERY CLOSE but it may be early too, so I'm praying it will be.
The picture of his band is not the right one, I couldn't find it on the Spence Diamonds website, but this is pretty close. It was very exciting to pick out these rings, I can't wait to bring them home! |

DIY Wedding
Fun stuff!
So the wedding room is slowly getting fuller and fuller of DIY projects and stuff I have accumulated! Just thought I'd share what I've been up to lately :)
1. Unity Candle: I bought the candles from Michael's, and the ribbon & rhinestone buckle too. The candle holders I bought at the thrift store for $2 total! And then spray painted them black. The paint job is HORRIBLE but you'd never know it unless you looked up close :) 2. Thank you cards: I bought everything from Michael's. The cards are just blank inside, but I thought I might use these for people who are doing special things in our wedding (playing piano, making a slideshow, coordinating everything for me on the actual day, etc.) 3. The top of my card box: I just used old junk boxes I had laying around the house (as you can see in picture #4) and covered them in paper that I bought from a scrapbooking store. The flowers on top are leftover ones I had when I was testing out colour choices, but the pink roses were actually ones that my mom had used in her bouquet after all the real roses had dried up (she kept her bouquet for almost 25 years!) 4. The whole card box: I accidentally ripped the top of the middle box, so now I'll have to re-do it. 5. The cute little gift boxes from Michael's that I'm putting my BM's earrings in. 6. The earrings I made for my girls: a strand of alternating freshwater pearls and swarovski crystals... should look GORGEOUS with their dresses! 7. The guestbook I made on blurb.com It was super easy to use the software and the book came pretty fast in the mail. Cost a bit much though, but I'm really proud of it! 8. The first page of my guestbook - the rest is a secret ;) 9. The table numbers I made: each number has special significance for FH and I. There will be an envelope on each table that has a description of what the table number means, and someone from each table will have to tell everyone else what that significance is. 10. Cake topper: my mom and dad bought us this as an engagement present, and I think I will use it on top of my cake!!! And I'm sure there will be more to come as the big day gets nearer and nearer! |

Bridesmaids
Dresses are here!
Okay, they were here several weeks ago, I just didn't get around to posting this. They are so cute on my lovely ladies! This first picture is of my MOH in her dress... it's definitely too big. hehe (I hope she doesn't mind I put this on here :)
The second is the dress hanging in my office/wedding room closet and I just stuck my mock-up bouquet in the sash to see what it'd look like. SO CUTE! The third pic is the shoes that I think 3 out of 4 bridesmaids are buying. The 4th girl had already bought shoes so i wasn't about to ask her to buy new ones. The shoes are from Payless (in the States, they don't carry this line in Canada) and they were only $30!!! |

Ask a Question
Sisters in the wedding
Okay.. so neither of two sisters (one is a half sister) are in my wedding party. The reason for that choice is that my younger sister and I have never been close. She has never been supportive of me throughout any of my relationships and certainly not through my relationship with my fiance. She has always been very bitter and rude and causes problems and fights at almost every single family function. It was really hard for me to tell her that she wouldn't be in my wedding, but I wanted the people standing up with me on that day to be girls that have really supported me and been there for me over the years. Anyways, and so I couldn't very well have one sister in the wedding party and not the other. Thankfully my older half sister understands and doesn't mind either way.
Anyways that's just some background info... I would still like my sisters to be a part of the wedding somehow, so I was thinking of having them do a special reading of my favourite verses in the Bible (1 Corinthians 13:1-13 "Love is patient, love is kind..." etc.). I want the focus of our ceremony to be on faith, hope and love in life and in marriage, so that's obviously the verses we'll be using! Anyways just wondering if anyone had any creative ideas for a more special way I can ask my sisters to be a part of my wedding in this way, instead of just phoning them. haha Any thoughts? |

Update
100 DAYS TO GO!!!!
Ahh! So exciting! The more I see this number decrease the more excited I get. The first few months of our engagement FLEW by but now they seem to drag on - I just want to be finished with the planning and stressing and be married to my man already!
This past weekend I made it my goal to get my invitations printed and finished. Well, I got them printed, but I'm still working on hand-addressing them (who knew that could take SO LONG?!). Funny story though... I bought invites from Office Depot, really cheap and SO CUTE, the kind you create on your computer and print from your home printer. So I made the actual invitation probably two months ago and just never got around to doing them. And when I originally made the invite on my computer, I just put in what I thought was the address for the church, thinking "Oh, I'll just change it later." You can probably guess where this is going! So anyways, I'm printing my invitations on Sunday, and it dawns on me "Wait... did I change the address? Is that even the right one?" So i looked it up and sure enough, it was wrong... and I'd already printed 74 invitations! We're only printing 100! I can't believe I did that. Is it bad that I'm going to use the incorrectly addressed ones anyways??! I'm going to give those ones to people who either aren't coming (a lot of my FH's family is from Ontario and we already know they're not coming) and people from church who obviously know where it is. If all goes to plan, no one but you ladies will know my little secret. :) What else... I finished my table numbers, they're really fun! They're all random numbers that have special/funny meaning to my FH and I! Like, table # 27 is how many months we've been together, #7 is how many zombie movies FH has made me watch, #2200 is the amount of times FH has gotten "the look" for something he thought was acceptable.. hehe.. that last one he thought up. We'll have little envelopes with the meaning behind the table number inside and someone from the table has to open it and share with everyone what it is before their table can go to eat. Anyways hopefully it will be fun and people will get a kick out of it. Other than that I really only have my favors to do, and then there are just all those little details (dress fittings, picking music, buying jewelry, etc.) It's exciting seeing it all come together! |

Wedding Reception
Just a minor setback...
... just an average, every day kitchen fire at my reception venue, causing them to shut down for five months and leaving me venue-less. No big deal, right? But seriously, that did happen. And I was told this week that they wouldn't be able to host my wedding reception there anymore. AHHHHGGGGGGGGGH!!! I freaked. How was I going to find another reception venue so late in the game?! Our wedding is less than 4 months away.
Then the catering company sent over a nice long list of halls half of which were booked for my day, and the other half were decrepit and falling apart. And then after my poor mum spent hours on the phone calling every single golf course and hotel in our city, we finally found a place that was available on our day and willing to give us a deal! yeah! So we will be having our reception at the Pacific Inn, which as anyone from the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area knows, is a ridiculous shade of pink on the outside, giving it the nickname of "the Pink Palace". BUT! The inside is gorgeous, and the room we're in is lovely too. It has five french doors that open out onto a private garden complete with a fountain and gazebo. The whole hotel has a tropical feel to it, which I love! I think it'll actually be prettier than the other place. God is so good :) Other than that few days of supreme stress, things are going well! I've done a few DIY tasks (card box, table numbers, kids gift bags) and on Monday I'm going down to the US to see if I can find some good deals. I am also going to hopefully try on some dresses for my MOH's wedding in November! yay! 111 more days, it's coming up so fast, and I can't wait! |

Wedding Decoration
I bought some pretty pink ribbon at Michael's yesterday, which will be wrapped around the centerpiece vases. The light pink polka dot ribbon will be on top of the dark pink grosgrain ribbon. So pretty! Our florist is doing this as a complimentary service - cutting the ribbon and putting it on the vases for us! So sweet. I bought the dark pink for about $14 (10 feet of it!) and the polka dot ribbon was only $11.99 for 25 yards! Not sure how many feet/meters that is. Anyways I think it was a pretty decent deal.
I also bought new invitations from Office Depot but I don't have any pictures of those yet. They're so cute! They are white with a dark pink patterned ribbon across the bottom, and they come with pink lined envelopes and response cards as well. 50 of them in a pack for only $34 and that was before the 15% off I got! YEAH! My fiance was quite impressed with my "dutch" shopping skills. He is Dutch himself, and quite... thrifty... I hesitate to say "cheap" hee hee! |

Wedding Cake
Pretty and pink!
I've been amazed as I've been wedding planning how generous people are of their time, abilities and talents! I have friends doing the music for our ceremony, people from our church volunteering to do ANYTHING to do with setting things up, taking things down, etc. And, my fiance's landlords (who also happen to be my parents best friends) have offered to make our wedding cake for free, as a gift for us! And I know from my research that cakes are not super cheap. So anyways, I am very thankful for this! I can't wait to sit down and actually plan things out! I've looked at tons of cakes and I really just want something simple, with some ribbon and a couple flowers. Like this one! Only I think I'll try light pink gerberas and dark pink button mums (instead of the green kermit mums in this picture). And most likely without the monogram because we aren't really incorporating one into our wedding anywhere. Ahh I love how things are starting to come together! so exciting!

Ask a Question
Shoes!
Alright so a few months ago I found the most PERFECT shoes that I absolutely had to have. They were from the Coloriffics line, called "Desire". Everywhere I looked though they were upwards of $80 and I wondered if I could get them cheaper, I'm only going to wear them once. So I searched and searched and then finally found basically the same shoe on ebay from a different line (Dyeables) but the same style. So I bought the shoes right away because they were only $20. Plus S&H and exchange, it was about $50, still cheaper! So here I am, waiting and waiting anxiously for them to arrive and they finally do and when I rip open the box the shoes are GOLD. GOLD SHOES. I ordered IVORY! Not gold! So anyways I complained to the seller and asked about his return policy and he said that I could send them back and he'd refund the price I paid for them (not including S&H).. so basically, I'm paying for them anways because I'd have to pay even more S&H to send them back to him in New York! UGH! So now I'm stuck with gold shoes that I will never wear.
Now that my rant is finished, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any discount shoe websites or something, or coupon codes that I can use to buy either Dyeables or Coloriffics shoes. I could just get different shoes but now I'm dead set on them. They're just too pretty! :) |

Congratulations!
My beautiful and amazing MOH got engaged last night!! I couldn't be happier for her and her fiance!!! They are both such wonderful people, they truly deserve every happiness. My MOH has been absolutely WONDERFUL throughout this process (my favourite was when she crawled on the floor and under the skirt of my wedding dress to pull down the layers and layers of tulle underneath) and I can only pray that I'm as wonderful to her as she is to me!
