So if you saw my last post... We just purchased a home.. but that came with a tonnn of stress. Our budget dropped due to paying closing costs on the home. So you think.. if your budget drops, how do you afford a wedding planner??? My thoughts too... but I figured, being that I was so stressed, no harm no foul.. lets just get a price. I was crying every night. Trying to find a house, submitting over 50 offers in 4 months and nothing, and trying to think wedding on top of that wasn't doing well with me. I was a hot mess.
So, I have a guy friend, who's best buddy is marrying a wedding planner. So I emailed her and her sister, and we met at a starbucks and ended up talking for 3 hours! They were amazing... So with them, they take a percentage of your budget. So no matter what I had planned to spend, it wasn't going to change. Their cost would be budgeted into my budget, just like any other vendor.
And I'm a budget queen... I find things for 50 dollars at the store and buy them for 10 online.. so the thought of having a wedding planner was never in my mind! I figured everything they wanted to do was like on TV... wayyy overpriced wedding items that you can get cheaper somewhere else... sooooo not the case! Like, lets say you found a florist, for 1500.. they will call and negotiagte it down to 1200. There's 300 dollars savings from what I was gonna spend on my own. They do this with all the vendors. I actually found a florist cheaper than any other I could find.. and they beat her prices by 30 percent with one of their "preferred vendors" What??? how does that happen??? but it did!!! That's how you can have the same wedding, but have the planner too! I was shocked. Had I known that I would have hired them back in August when I got engaged!!!
I'm finally ENJOYING being engaged. It's wonderful. I'm happy! and finally ecstatic for my wedding day. And with the lower budget, we went from looking at all inclusive places... to banquet halls where we can hire each vendor and save the amount we spent on the house!
Sooooo freakin excited! Praise the lord for my attentive planners!
