Do any of your selected DIY's make you wanna stab them in the jugular???? I mean, don't get me wrong.. I looooooove crafty stuff.. and honestly, I love posting stuff and seeing that others like it... the satisfaction that something I made...looks good! It's a great feeling! but
OHHHH EMMM GEEEE
I WANT TO STAB MY FAVOR BOXES IN THE JUGULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are the biggest pain in my ass I have ever experienced in my life!!! They're cute! I love their cuteness... but the path I have to take to get them there...bah! royaly ticks me off!!!
I bought 2 boxes of 100 white square favor boxes from Michael's. I'm using a stamp that I bought sometime last year that I based my whole wedding off of.
Where do I start... finding the right ink pad was a b**** and a half! They either weren't black... they were like grayish, or smudged or splattered... So I finally found one that is perfect... but it is hard like a rock!!!! So I have to really use strength to get the ink on the pad... you can see the table shaking from me using so much pressure! lol So the muscles on the sides of my boobs hurt! awesome! lol Then, it's such a big stamp that I can't use it like a normal stamp. I have to ink it, then lay it down and rub the box on the stamp. Oh and in order from me to rub the box on the stamp, I have to make sure to fold the box by surface so that it doesn't make a hot mess and get a part of the next side, and to avoid double stamping and overlapping! Theeeeen that's just the box!
I take green paper that I had left over from my save the dates and wrap around. But since it's 105# paper, I have to be careful to crease it at each edge. Then wrap ribbon around it with glue. And I still have to make the candy to put in it and the labels. Seriously.. for something no one is going to care about.
I've got like 115 or so stamped. About 1/4 of those have the green and blk ribbon, and I need about 160 completed. woe is me...lol
Here's me doing one.. just the stamping.. I've gotten fast but my arms and hands start to hurt and it gets slower and slower.. and there are always mess ups that stamp all uneven and life just happens and I get interupted.... but check this out:
So what's your DIY that you're like.. omg, what the freakin hell was I thinking??????
LOL I LOVE that you said stab it in the jugular! hahahahahaha that had me rollin. And the one DIY thing that I was about made me crazy - I bagged it! LOL I was going to make homemade recipe cards and I decided, um no. This is going to stress me out WAYYY too much! But get on with your badself because those are ROCKIN! Your guests are in for such a treat! :) XOXO
My most annoying diy is my centerpieces! What a pain in the a$$ I tell you. I saw the lampshade centerpieces on the internet, and decided that I, me, could make these, phew...why pay like $800 when I can do these cheap, like $200 no problemo. Yeah freaking right! 12 lampshades = $85, 13 (i broke one) 24" vases = $185, material to cover these lampshades = $70, ribbon to cover top and bottom rim = $65, hot freaking glue gun that has taken about 20 layers of skin off my fingers, and glue replacements = $20, fill for centerpieces = $100, lights for centerpieces = $100, 12 mirrors for underneath centerpieces = $70, candles and holders to go around bottom of centerpieces = $85. WTF was I thinking?!?! this project, the putting together of it, making it work, look good and it ends up costing me over $780...shoulda just paid the decorator to do them. fyi, less than 3 months to the wedding and I still havent perfected them. God help me.
@ Amanda.. I tell the FH i'm gonna stab him in the jugular when he pushes my buttons! or anyone for that matter...lol told my boss that yesterday! lol Aww recipe cards would be cute!!! lol But I feel ya! I just realized this isn't the whole video... at the end I grab it and fold it up.. wonder why it did that..hmmm
@goingtobemrsb That sounds how my manzanitas were gonna be! I refused to continue until I found a cheaper way..luckily they're comin along little by little... I freakin feel ya though!
Nidhal put it perfectly months ago.. "why oh why do I DIY???" hahahhaha
I can honestly say i stabed my diy lol! it was my card box i was trying to make the 3 boxes tower looking one with a white ribbon and a clear siipper on top , so first i had to find the boxes that was a bi***ch then i had to find the right spray paint which was suppose to a aqua blue color well painted them was way worse i just gave up on the whole thing what a disaster, so i know exactly how u feelin right now. so i went to walmart and picked up a nice wishing well card box looks cute and easy to asemble cost only 10 bucks lol!
yours look good and at least u never gave up , you're doing a great job you may not think so but we do :)
oh & just make sure when u done u do throw the stamp as far as you can LOL!
Lol you're hilarious. I love the video. It really shows the ridiculousness of the stamping process :). Not to add to your DIY list, but you should definitely have a little note attached saying "Hand stamped with love" or something like that. Really it's more like "hand stamped until you want to stab the box in the jugular" but the first one sounds sweeter. I love the boxes and if you're guests don't, then tell them to send them to me and I'll put them on my mantle because they are awesome.
WOW that much work?! I don't really DIY so I can't be useful ranting on what i wanna throw LOL. Kinda wanna throw some ppl, does that count? My only semi-DIY was our programs, but really, it's a free template and Nidhal helped me and they really didn't take long. Assembly shouldn't be too hard either, I'm thinking of just keeping them simple.
If it's any consolationon your crazy a$$ DIY, they're bloody adorable!
These are really adorable! Great job with the complete DIY from paper to stamp to box, great job! I used the same ribbon on my favors as well, green and the black scalloped :)
