So again, one of the sweets off the list that has a lonnnng shelf life..woo woo! We finished up our chocolate spoons for the coffee station.. just under 100 made... And then we did about 60 white chocolate covered MINT OREOS for the candy bar. We're doing mostly candy at the bar, but I wanted a few "treats/desserts" as well :) And the best part??? With the mint oreos, after you bite into them, they're BLACK WHITE AND GREEN! how freaking cool is that???? all my wedding colors in one treat!
I'm soo flipping excited that I learned to put candy in the freezer to set it. Makes a huuuuge difference. They pop right out and have that glossy finish! yay! Super easy DIY and saves us money on one more overpriced colored candy that we'll be buying :) I have a few tricks up my sleeve to cut costs on all these candies.. I'll keep you posted! :)
Oh and I'm trying to put a cute little note with each candy/dessert... Like these are the FH and GM Curtis's faves :)
Do you have any unique ideas for your candy bar to share? Or ways to cut some costs? Please share!
Casie, hahahahah too funny!
boo to the caterer.. that stinks :( It's understandable but seriously.. we had a lot of people tell us the same thing. I luckily got my caterer to love me pretty quickly.. she's really hooking us up.. I really need to post about her. She's my heart :) Just a wonderful woman and is loud and crazy like me.. I heart her!
@dreamingofpur Thanks a bunch :) I love the colors! so excited
@fallinlove.. you should! It was quick :)
@prncss.. ohhhh that's a great idea! I love that!
@Sara, you crack me up! hahahah thank you so much :)
Love all your wedding stuff!
so do you think in the end that after buying the molds and the ingredients and supplies to make everything, that you did save alot of money? i may have to look into doing some myself if you do!
how are you going to store them until the wedding comes?
@dreamingofpurple! hahahah thanks for the compliment :) too cute!
@ lori.. Molds, chocolate, oreos in all... was exactly 12 dollars and change with tax and they fill a huuuuuge old fashioned candy jar we bought. A jar 1/3 of the size with the colored candy you buy on the websites would have costs about 12-15 to fill. So in that aspect it saved a ton! We are buying tons of the colored candy.. but this will be alot to go around, for only 12 :) Most of the colored candies are 3.99 and up a lb..and a lb of candy isn't much. I'm thinking for some of my bigger jars.. you can even put some pretty tissue in your colors bunched up at the bottom and then start pouring your candy over it :)
Oh and cake balls.. oohhh emmm geee.. so flippin good!!! I went to an open house at my caterers, and there was a lady that did candy bars.. and she had them.. she told me then the recipe.. I just remember cake and cream cheese... omg sooo good! I'd totally be making them if I didn't have to wait until right before! I can't wait to see pics of yours!
It's around that time of the month and these look GOOD!!!!! Yummy, yum, yum!
@ Nidhal Thank you so much! that's such a compliment. I've made these molds for years and they always look neat.. but not shiny... they were always dull and kinda rough looking.. when I googled about the freezing to set and did it.. I screamed.. FH came running and I was OHHH EMMM GEEE! after all these years.. 5 mins in the freezer fixes it??!?!?!?! lol I can't wait to do all my halloween witch fingers and spiders on my oreos! lol
@seaside.. thanks hun!!! They smell out of this world too!!!
