DIY Wedding
FANCY ENVELOPES!

So I saw this idea sometime last year and knew I wanted to do it.. but was worried it would be pricey.

Lining your plain envelopes with pretty patterned paper.

Well last week, Casie, furturemrswilson.. posted hers and she used wrapping paper! I was like, omg brilliant! So I went searching..and searching..and more searching.. nothing I liked :(

So it made me think outside of the box! I googled for digital patterns, and found a seller on etsy that sells 12 patterns on a sheet of paper digitally. I bought them for 3.50 total, and then played with it on my computer to make a full background of the patterns I wanted to use... OH AND THE PATTERN I LIKED, HAPPENED TO HAVE BIRDS IN IT!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh!!! so it fits my theme even more and I didn't even know it prior to purchasing!!! woohoo

Making the background was a little time consuming.. the patterns I bought aren't perfectly symetrical.. I'm guessing they were hand made.. which is just fine.. but it just made it a little hard to copy and paste..even if I overlapped... so it took a good hour or two per background template I made... Then I printed them at work.. that's a money saver :) and then cut them out to fit my envelopes! I'm in love with them.. Now i'm thinking about possibly using this pattern on my invites instead of what I already have.. hmmmm Not sure yet! But super excited.. I got about 1/4 done yesterday and I'll finish the rest today! I also did the template on my cutter with blue tape.. just like I did for my pocket folds.. worked wonders :)

The white envelopes are my outer mailing envelopes.. so they're A8's with a square flap so the insert was just square. I'm using the white on black for the white envelope. My inner envelopes are A7's in black with a triangle, euro, flap.. so those are a house shape.. and I used a round corner punch to make the perfect rounded top... Those I'm using the black on white.. eeee so excited for these!!! A little time consuming but not hard at all!!!

lol :) I haven't even started the long and daring process. I have to order my invitation envelopes first & buy a paper cutter now. After I did ONE envelope, I was like omg this is going to take forrreverrr. So a paper cutter will be a good investment. :)

Thank you thank you!

Advice, Use double sides tape rahter than glue.. the glue makes the envelope look bumpy.. and if you get the glue too close to where the envelope flap bends... the crease gets all rigidy looking :(  Unfortunately.. we did all ours already and then found out.. I mean.. in the long run, guests wont notice.. well most wont.. but I wish I had figured it out before.

@timeflies & missyp Thank you so much :)

@lori. I have literally no life right now.. none.  I don't go out to do anything.  I stay home and work on stuff... and I don't care..lol  I basically told all my friends to stop making me feel bad for carrying so much about this day... I want everything perfect and if I fall off the face of the earth for a year.. so be it! lol I haven't made dinner in I don't know how long...lol  I just glue stuff every day.. I'm loving all this.. but I really am excited to be done with it all so I can get back to normal :)

Love them!  I am doing the same thing, but I hadn't decided if I wanted damask or lime green.  Thanks for the tip on the double sided tape!

another tip... If you are cutting these the whole length of the inside... cut about 1/4 inch short so when you glue it... it doesn't go quite to the bottom.. otherwise if it goes all the way down and you fold it.. it's buckes a bit.
