BGNN'S ANNIVERSARY!
08/09/10 is a special day :)
3 years ago today, the FH and I shared our first kiss. It was wonderful and amazing and a day that changed my life forever.
1 year ago today he got down on one knee, and promised to never stop kissing me :) I love him more than I ever imagined I could love a man. He's the one and only that my heart wants. I remember when we first started dating.... Now mind you, I loooove to talk and can talk someones ear off! I would say something like, "so my friend Mel is getting married in November, and Marcie broke up with her b/f.. but there's a potential new guy and blah blah blah" So a month or two goes by and I bring up Marcie.. and he'd say "so did she ever end up with new guy???" Um, what? How the hell do you know that? "you told me" What?? he remembers... wait up.. he listens??? I was like..hmmmm this ones strange I tell ya! We had been dating for 1 week, when it was time for my family vacation. We were headed to Pismo beach for 2 weeks. I'm portuguese and there is a huge festival up there, and sand dunes to ride dirtbikes and atv's. So I told him I was going and he goes.. "I wanna go!" I laughed out loud and replied, "Sure, no problem, you'll just have to meet my mom, my dad, brother, and all my aunt's and uncles, no big thing after dating for a week" (lots of sarcasm in my voice) and he goes... "okay!" Wait what?? Again.. this ones weird I tell ya! I was like.. "oh, ok.. let me ask my mom if you can stay in our motor home with us" She was completely fine with it.. followed with a "he will not sleep in your bed!!" bahhahahaha So he got off work, and drove the 4 hours up to pismo beach to meet up with us. He switched his schedule around a got a few days off to stay. I was shocked. I couldn't believe it as it was happening. My mother instantly loved him, and when my brother asked him to go riding.. I knew he was in. :) He's just so wonderful! The most caring, thoughtful amazing man I've ever met. He truly cares about how I feel. He gets sick to his stomach when I'm upset... I've never felt so connected to a man. He is truly my other half. My perfect opposite. I'm loud and crazy, and he's calm and reserved. He brings me flowers for no reason, and chocolate covered strawberries when I'm having woman issues :) He's polite and friendly and wonderful with my mother. He's not rude or pushy... he never raises his voice at me or yells in my presence, which is wonderful since he carries a badge!!! He communicates with me, and doesn't ever leave me upset. He's perfect. And I'm absolutely honored and ecstatic to know that he chose me. I'm the one he wants forever. And.... he asked both my father and my mother for my hand before he proposed. :) I appreciate and love him more than I'll ever be able to express. He's my favorite. xoxoxoxo |

Ask a Question
BGNN'S ? ABOUT RSVP's
Okay.. just thinking about the fact that i'm putting so much into this day, and people will most likely not RSVP on time.. makes my blood boil.. so i'm hoping that you lovlies can lend some advice.
Would it be tacky to put on the back of the outside envelope "CONTAINS TIME SENSITIVE INFORMATION, PLEASE RESPOND" Can I do that? I honestly feel getting these babies in on time will be a huge issue with my family. I'm sending my invites out just past the 3 month mark as suggested by the knot b/c i'm worried.. So any advice? Anything that has seemed to work for some of you??? |

BGNN'S CANDY BAR! PART 1
WE MADE CHOCOLATE OREOS!!!
So again, one of the sweets off the list that has a lonnnng shelf life..woo woo! We finished up our chocolate spoons for the coffee station.. just under 100 made... And then we did about 60 white chocolate covered MINT OREOS for the candy bar. We're doing mostly candy at the bar, but I wanted a few "treats/desserts" as well :) And the best part??? With the mint oreos, after you bite into them, they're BLACK WHITE AND GREEN! how freaking cool is that???? all my wedding colors in one treat!
I'm soo flipping excited that I learned to put candy in the freezer to set it. Makes a huuuuge difference. They pop right out and have that glossy finish! yay! Super easy DIY and saves us money on one more overpriced colored candy that we'll be buying :) I have a few tricks up my sleeve to cut costs on all these candies.. I'll keep you posted! :) Oh and I'm trying to put a cute little note with each candy/dessert... Like these are the FH and GM Curtis's faves :) Do you have any unique ideas for your candy bar to share? Or ways to cut some costs? Please share! |

BGNN'S CHOCOLATE SPOONS!
FOR THE COFFEE BAR!
Hey! So I have some treats i'm making.. some for the coffee bar and some for the candy bar. I thought they were projects that would have to wait until a week or so before the wedding. WRONG! I started reading up on chocolate and melting chips and found out my little morsels of goodness have a super long shelf life!
So... here we are with the beggining of our coffee stirrer, chocolate spoons! I got the thick plastic spoons from a party store, and dipped them into melted melting chocolate. I used a double broiler system to melt the chocolate and dipped away. I also learned the key to getting the sheen from your chocolate is how you set them! Good to know since I'll be using chocolate covered oreo molds in the next few days :) I heard those last forever too once they're encased in chocolate! woohoo! But everytime i've made the molds, they were rough looking.. 5-10 mins in the freezer fixes that problem and they pop out of the mold shiny!!! woohoo!!! lol So after they were set, I drizzled, set for an additional minute, then popped into little candy baggies and ribboned and done! Sooo from a previous post.. I copied this to explain the tripple reason for doing these spoons... one b/c they'll taste bomby!, two b/c they'll make the coffee station even prettier, and three, as a twist on the FH's heritage! These are our version of LOVER SPOONS :) ENGLISH TRADITION The tradition of giving a lovespoon to a love interest dates back hundreds of years. The Welsh have been giving lovespoons to a hopeful interest since the 17th century. They were carved by the courter, or, if skills were not that adept, he hired a carver to do the work for him. Symbols were carved into the handle indicating the giver's feelings - hearts, wheels, anchors, etc., giving meaning to one or both. Whatcha think??? This is a little more than half. I'll finish up today or tomorrow :) |

BGNN'S BRIDAL SHOWER!
I GOT MY INVITE AND FOUND OUT THE COLORS!!!
WOOHOO! I'M SO EXCITED!!! So my sister and MOH is throwing my Bridal Shower with the help of my mom and bm's! It's a total and complete suprise for me! I'm sooo freaking excited! My FH is in on details too! He's taken my lil sis to Downtown LA to get supplies and .. I know this is random.. he's an amazing baker! So I know he's making some of my favorite treats for the shower! He makes a lot of Paula Deen inspired recipes..mmmmmmm! lol
So I got my invite! I actually got it weeks ago and I keep forgetting to post.. I'm kinda at a standstill right now... I have soooooo much to do! But I don't know what to do?! Does that make sense?? Anywho.. my colors and black and pink.. like a darker fuschia! woohoo!!! My sis is super trendy so I know this bridal shower will be as well! I can't freakin wait!!! I based my whole outfit off the colors!!! I'd been trying to decide between 5 pairs of shoes... and when I saw that Misspriss got them... I was like..omg I'm doing it! That's it! I was worried they'd be a little much for my shower.. but knowing my sis, I bet i'll fit right it. I showed them to her.. and she was like "OMG YOU BETTER BUY THOSE NOW!!!!" Oh and I figured out a way to double purpose the outfit!!!! I can wear it to a wedding in October with grey accessories!!! So done done and done!!! I actually already got the dress and it was hella short... so I exchanged it and rebought 2 sizes larger (they usually get 1" longer by size) and then I'll get it altered. CROSS YOUR FINGERS THAT WORKS FOR ME!!! If not, I bought another black dress I love that I can wear instead... I'll keep you all posted! woo hoo! so flippin excited! |

BGNN'S VASES
VASES FOR THE HEAD TABLE BOUQUETS
I feel like I haven't blogged in forever.. been a little crazy over here. My sister actually helped me make these over the weekend :) Vases for the girls to put their bouquets in on the head table at the reception :) Used the cricut again..shocker I know! Took us forever though! This was one of those things I thought would be quick and easy. Pfft hours! Hours of gluing those damn rhinestones on! lol But it's all good! We were going to etch the letter on like I did for the guys beer mugs, but meh. I think this is girlier.. lol I just made that a word...
Anywho.. I'll just have the girls take them home.. they can toss them.. I don't care.. but I dont need them lol I'm not gonna lie,..not my favorite diy.. They're alright. They'll work..lol but i'm not in love with them. |

Customized Hangers!
Who Wants One?!!?
So I made another hanger! For my mom! I now have one for my mom, me, and my bridesmaids!
I've decided to start making these for other brides! How about the first two to order on here, i'll sell for $10 and then rest for $15?! $5.99 shipping to anywhere in the US. I'm going to put them up for $20 on etsy! :) Still waiting for the boxes to ship in to arrive to ship. Should be here in a week! When I get them I can tell you all how much it will be to ship to Canada :) FH and I were stressing a little about budget this weekend, and I figured this could help a little :) I can do either light natural finish or the dark in the pics. My hangers have the notches in them for straps or the strings on the inside of the dress :) The wood is much more strong than the hangers that are all wire. So, anyone interested???? |

Ask a Question
Best & easiest photo share site...
What is the easiest photo share site to use??? I have created a few and none seem super user friendly... I don't want my family to have to create an account to add pics to my already made account.. and it seems like that's the case with shutterfly..unless I'm doing it wrong. I'm very computer savy, but haven't used a pic uploading site since back in the day on myspace when I used Photobucket...and it was so easy.. they all seem crazy now!
So.. in your opion.. which is the easiest??? and the best? Thanks in advance!!!! |

BGNN'S POMANDER BALLS!
Even Indoor wedding can have them!!!
Hey!!! So I did my pomander balls yesterday after work. I made 9 of them. We're hanging them on the banisters entering into the church. I actually wanted to do green and white, but the distributor in LA that I buy my flowers from was out of my cream roses...so I just did all lime. If they get them in next time we go down, i'll pick some up. These actually ended up being a super easy diy... I bought small syrafoam balls and large rose buds.. and I ended up with about a 7"-8" pomander ball!
I took the strafoam ball.. punctured through it with the back of a paintbrush... pulled it out put ribbon on the end of the brush and pushed it through the now pre done hole. I knoted it at one end. and then made a long loop and knoted on that side. I kept it next to a finished pomander to get the length right. You could measure.. but you can't get an exact knot so this was just as close :) Then for the flowering.. don't pull the flower off the stem.. cut a piece of the stem. it really helps! so I would stab the ball with the stem, take it out, fill with hot glue, then push back in and hold for 3-5 seconds.. and continue.. did each one about a half inch apart from each other. It took 21-22 flowers per ball. I made 9 of them.. Three for each banister! |
