Green Lots of Plan Bs

Lots of Plan Bs

First, it was the wedding date. (Our original date was trumped by a BACHELOR PARTY.) Whatever - that's old news, and I'm over it. However if it rains all day August 14th, and July 31st is an absolutely gorgeous day, our friend Mason is gonna have lots of 'splaining to do! Like, a year's supply of Oreos-worth!

Then, it was our venue.

Two weeks ago, my dress came in without the correct special order changes I intended, so it came in as a trumpet skirt instead of a modified a-line. (Turning it into a modified a-line is what SOLD me on the dress, so this was no bueno.) Figuring out where we go from here literally *just* got straightened out between the bridal shop and the designer, and the gown is being redesigned, (this time, with a different skirt pattern), AND either Pronovias or my bridal shop is waiving any additional fees. Heck, yeah! Gotta love excellent customer service. :) And, phew! I thought I was going to have to go dress shopping again, and in my online searches, I wasn't finding anything I loved as much...

So, here's me in the gown that came in, checking out my hippyliciousness. What? It's a word. I just made it up... Anyway, you can see I'm not in love with what I'm seeing, especially from the front.

Here's the silhouette of the skirt that is going into my new gown. (The lace will be like my dress.)

Dress from the '06 Spring Collection of the Elie Saab collection for Pronovias. Sorry, don't know what gown it is. :(

Put it together, and it will be something like this:

I am *sooooooooo* excited for it to come in in June. :)

And, now, the shoes that I ordered, in double-wide EE size? They're too narrow. Who knew my feet were that ginormous? (Kind of a blow to the ego, I'm telling ya!) ; )

I'm thinking about going the ballroom dance shoe route now, like these, but with a 2 1/4" heel:

And dye them similar to this color:

Anyone else experiencing lots of "Plan Bs" this with their wedding planning? Do you find, sometimes, Plan B is BETTER than the original?

yeah, a lot of things that are in the wedding now are "make do" solutions because plan A didn't work. Dress, shoes, veil, menu...I have come to accept them, embrace them and hopefully on the day none of it will really matter anymore. i think maybe that's why i've thrown myself into my diy projects because i can actually control those things.

ps. that dress is beautiful and have my fingers crossed that it will work out sunny.

All kinds of plan B's here too :) as you've probably noticed on my blog. even a plan D in the incidence of bridesmaid dresses hehe.
Flowers, decor choices, menu and beverage options are still going full circle depending on what day of the week it is but I know it will settle, once my diy's were accomplished I was very content to see what our wedding is shaping up to be and can't wait for May 1st, just keeps getting better

For sure!
Our wedding date/day was also a plan B.
My wedding dress...had to go to the BM department...plan B.
Shoes...nope, got lucky with mine (i also have wide feet).
I think the best weddings are the ones that don't go exactly perfect. They say: bad weddings make for great marriages! So here's to rain on my wedding day, and wine on my dress!!

actually, i just realized our entire, entire wedding is plan B, because initially we were going to elope to St Lucia. We had seen a travel agent and everything... and then our parents got wind of our plans and that was the end of that :)

Glad to know I'm not alone in this!

Katie - So are you two honeymooning in St. Lucia now?  Hope so!  We're doing a cruise and are spending a day there.  The reason we picked that particular cruise was because it stopped there!  :)  (And if I already talked to you about this...er...sorry.  I had a conversation about this with one of the brides on here about it, and I don't remember who.  Ugh, bride brain!)

Sarah - Looking at your blog, it's hard to figure out your "make-do" solutions.  Everything looks amazing!  But, at the end of the day, all that really matters is that you and your favorite mister will be husband and wife.  Have you seen the Wedding Graduate series on A Practical Bride?  Looooooove that - it keeps everything in check.

Flowerchild - Oh, I know how the full-circle cycle goes!  :)  Love that things just keep getting better as you're getting closer!  I need to start tackling our DIY projects - signs, trivia cards, button favors, the guestbook, our invites, our engagement pics... Lots to do!  But it's all fun stuff, and got the vision down, now just need to DO it.

And Minx?  God, I love you.   Some of the most memorable and enduring moments of friends' weddings are things that went awry!  :)  Thanks for the reality check.
