Green For The Kid At Heart... Paper Chains!

For The Kid At Heart...
Paper Chains!

Came across this today on OnceWed... let's just let the pictures do the talking:

Photobucket

I checked out the blog of the designer behind this (Kirsten Ellis), and she used grosgrain ribbon for these and said she loved the hint of shimmer it gave in person. Is this not GORGEOUS?! This is SO PERFECT for us!

Our "aisle" is basically a little fruit-tree orchard, and we are going to dress up the trees with a swag of these ribbon chains between each one. Thinking I'll make two chains for between each tree (one ivory, one a deep coral color called nutmeg) to give it a little more dimension.

Here's a picture of the trees shortly after they were planted a few years ago. They're much bigger now (and the protective fences are gone) but this will give you the general idea.
ceremony

I puchased my ribbons through Really Reasonable Ribbon - they were the best deal I found and had a wide variety of colors to choose from. This was my order, which should be enough for the chain links and to hang vertically from the trees, like I showed in my last post. Can't wait to see it all come together!

I see in the photo that she used the ribbon chains as well as just ribbon to hang down. I like!

We still don't have any decoration for our ceremony.......more acurately: for the spot where we will be standing. We have a huge heart-shaped rock....maybe I will post today to see if anyone has suggestions.

Anyway, lovely as usual!!

Janna,
I really like the ribbons/chain for the swags between the trees.
You will probably want 1 chain and 2 ribbons.  Yikes!!  How much ribbon did you order?  Have you measured the area yet?  I haven't

Wow, I didn't think of ribbon at all when I saw the picture. I just thought: wow, those strips of paper are cut perfectly straight! Haha, I bet it will look amazing with ribbon, though. Cool.

JLo - I measured last time I was home. 18.5" between each tree, so I figured 25" of fabric between each one?

25x6x2 = 300 ft, but links are double. FIgured 600 ft for two links, another 300 for the ribbon, and then ribbon for the trees. I think I ordered 300 yards of ribbon total? And now we're doing the links/ribbon along the pole too (instead of the flags) so I will need to order more but am waiting til this comes in so I can get a better feel for how much we need.  All I know is it's a lot of frickin ribbon. :)

And I found ribbon for the backs of the chairs! I'll email you this afternoon...
