Sooo...I've been out of touch with my WBC family for the last week, because my FH and I had to deal with the harsh reality that the wedding may have to be pushed back.

I got laid off in December of 2008, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would still be unemployed almost four months later...with two degrees. Not to say that those degrees are the end all, be all of my job search, but I got depressed thinking that I basically went to school for nothing.

We started saving for our wedding last year, when we first got engaged, because we knew that we didn't have any outside financial help. But we also have to move, so we worked it out where the money saved could be split btw both the wedding and a deposit on our new home. But with 4 months of one person holding down the financial fort...things have just gone crazy.

Although, nothing has been set in stone...it just breaks our hearts because we were set on this August 8th wedding. I wanted to be a summer bride. If we push it back, it will probably be in September, or October. I'm sooo sad!

Don't be sad.  Everything happens for a reason and although it doesnt reveal itself in the beginning you will understand in the end.  September and October are still warm days here in Chicago so all will work out.  I have been going through some financial turmoil myself with the wedding and I was so stressed about it that is until I just lost one of bestfriends from high school from cancer yesterday.  She had three kids and a husband and so young!  It's sad but true this gave me the strength to not sweat the small stuff life is too short.  Trust me "Doll" everything will work out for the better.  Good Luck you will be in my prayers

Aww I'm really sorry, hopefully things will look up for you. But like bherbin27 put very well, everything happens for a reason. And the fall is a beautiful time of year and is still warm. It also gives you more time to finish your planning. I'm sure things will look up soon, and you will find a new job.

Ohhh, I'm sorry to hear this. It's really bad out there right now. I have an Associate Degree and I've been unemployed for 14 months now...YES! We planned to do this wedding/renewal and promised each other 10 years ago that this would happen. So, we set that budget waaayyyyy low at $2,000.00 and cut back tramendously. No limo, catering, small guest list, found a new wedding dress for $75.00 on craigslist, cameras on each table intstead of an expensive photographer, no second honeymoon at this time around....there's ways of cutting back my friend. Things do happen for a reason? It can still happen, but just differently. Keep your chin up and make it happen!

I DEFINITELY know how you feel.  We hit this same wall, & actually my fiance was laid off the same time as you, with 2 degrees as well.  He feels the same as you.  It's very frustrating, & hopefully we can keep our current date, since it's already been moved, but we moved it BEFORE realizing he'd be laid off, otherwise we probably woulda moved it to the fall.  I'm hoping we wont have to move it again.  Fiance is liable to get attacked if it happens again, lol.

All I can say is that time will heal.  You will soon get back in the planning scheme of things & realize how fortunate you are to have a little more time on your plate to plan & execute projects.  You want your future & your marriage to be secure...not just one day.

Hang in there.  It hurts for a minute...I know.  And it can be very frustrating, but just know that you're not alone.  All things happen for a reason, & there is a blessing behind this all.  You will also find the right job at the right time.  hang in there.  (((Hugs)))  Just let me know if there is anything I can help with.  Fall weddings are beautiful too!

I'm so sorry :( I You'll feel better after a few days and will know that this is all for the best. It will allow you more time for planning and to have a bit more money for it. Everything will work out.
