Maggie Sottero Wedding dress
I thought I would give my fellow WBC brides an opportunity to purchase my wedding dress before putting it up on EBay. I can not express how beautiful and comfortable I felt in this amazing gown by designer Maggie Sottero. The dress is "Paris" and is no longer available through the website. I've attached a few pictures and will give as much detail as I can think of but please feel free to comment if you have any questions and I would be happy to answer. # Condition: Used for indoor ceremony and reception # Purchased in: 2010 # Color: Diamond White # Label Size: 6 (lace up back gives some lenience with size) # Street Size: 4 # Bust: 36 # Waist: 29 # Hips: 36 # Height w/shoes: 5' 6" # Silhouette: Ball Gown # Neckline: Strapless (Sweetheart) # Waistline: Natural/Dropped Waist Dress Details The gown is a strapless two-piece, corset and skirt. The corset features a sweetheart neckline, with layered texture and it laces up the back. This corset style gives a nice form fit (so even if you're not exactly the same size as I am, you should be able to get a good fit, without additional alterations).Brooch on the front is removable but I loved that it gave my dress that little sparkly detail without being over the top. The skirt features a chapel length train, and is very full with the box-pleats. I really wanted to feel like a princess... and I really did! it's a whole lotta dress and absolutely gorgeous. I have had the dress drycleaned even though we were outside for only a short amount of time on a nice dry day for pictures. There's no stains/dirt on the corset, or on the skirt itself. Dress Alterations No alterations were done to the corset . I had the the bustling done to match the style of the box pleats to blend in nicely. I did have the dress hemmed but personally went with a fuller crinoline cause I wanted it bigger. I'm 5'4" without a full crinoline it would easily fit to 5'6" Preservation Method - Currently stored in garment bag Purchased at $1200 Asking price $500 Savings of $700 |

Honeymoon
Our 10 day cruise!!
We just got back from an unbelievably amazing cruise in the Eastern Caribbean. Woke up each morning, stepped out onto our private balcony and took in the scenery of a new island each day. I would highly recommend a cruise to all who are still considering honeymoon options. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have about it.
In the meantime here are some pictures of our travels. Enjoy! |

Top 5 moments from wedding
What I will always remember from day
As promised I thought since our wedding day was more beautiful and touching than we could have asked for, I thought I would post for you some of the moments that made the wedding day extra special. Some planned from day one, and some surprises. Here are my top 5 that come to mind. Hopefully these will be helpful to some of you.
1. Bonding with the girls I don't know about all of you but I have a very diverse group of friends and they all don't know each other very well even though the are all close friends with me. It was so fun to have these girls with me the morning of the wedding at the salon and getting ready. Everyone got along so well and we were all in such good spirits in anticipation for the wedding. I loved every moment of it and hope all of you have a similar experience. 2. My brothers speech They had the whole crowd laughing and crying and wanting more. All three of them are charismatic and I was so proud to be there sister that day. 3. Suprise song from oldest brother My oldest brother is a musician so instead of just playing a song at the wedding he wrote and recorded a song....then got all of our friends and family to lipsync to the words. It was the most incredible surprise. Slideshow was posted about 3 posts down if you care to take a look. 4. Walk down the aisle I mentioned this in my last post but it really was a moment I will never forget and worked out exactly how I hoped it would having my step dad walk me half way to my dad then my dad gave me away. I was lucky enough to share that special moment with both my dads. 5. The weather Getting married in Canada in October was a risk with the weather. I didn't expect to be able to take any outdoor pictures but we couldn't have asked for a more perfect Fall day. The leaves were beautiful colors and the sun was shining. I will post the only professional picture we got so far to show you the kind of day we had. |

DIY Wedding
Creative ideas that were huge hit!!!
I got married recently and thought I would share with you some of the ideas I came up with and some of the ideas I got from this wonderful site that I had for my wedding day that were a huge success.
1. basket of flip flops in the bathroom So many girls came up to me and thanked me for this one. When their feet were sore from their heels it made their day to have some dancing shoes to slip into. It was so great to see at the end of the night all the flip flops on the dance floor. My docorator told me that there were only 3 pairs left in the basket by the end of the night. 2. Toss bouquet that separated This idea I got on this site from another bride (sorry I can't remember the name). I untied a big ribbon that was holding the bouquet together right before tossing it, so when it went up into the air the roses separated and each rose had a different fortune/charm on it. This was great because several girls got to catch the bouquet and they loved the different charms. It was just awsome! 3. My two dads I always knew that I wanted my step dad to be involved and have a big role in my wedding day because he was the one who raised me from a little girl, but I also didn't want to offend my dad in anyway. I decided to have my step dad walk me out into the ceremony area to my dad, they then shook hands and my dad walked me down the rest of the aisle to give me away. It was beautiful, respectful, emotional and just as I imagined it to be. 4. The candy bar My decorated did an amazing job of setting this up. I know candy bars are very common now but so many of my guests had never seen anything like it before and thought it was just the greatest thing. I even enjoyed going over and having some hershey kisses to nibble on between dances. 5. Bridesmaids dresses This was probably the one thing that people really will remember about our wedding day. My bridesmaids all wore the exact same dress (which was flattering on all their body types) but they each wore a different jewel tone that complimented them best. You could just hear the guests murmur when they noticed the different colours. Got sooooo many compliments on this and it made the professional pictures (which I haven't got back yet) look absolutely beautiful with all the rich colours. It was just awesome. |

Wedding Dress
The ones that got away
Now that I have found "THE ONE" with no hesitation or regret; I would like to share with you. THE RUNNERS UP!!!!
I wish I had kept more of the pictures but these are just a few dresses that I had tried on and the first picture was even a strong contender. Dress #1 I loved the detail of the straps and the elegance to this dress. It was a beautiful silk gown. Dress #2 Beautiful but too much dress for my petite frame Dress #3 Didn't love this one on me for some reason. Not for a young bride maybe. Kinda fun to look back at them now. Anyone else have pictures of "the other" dresses?? |
