Wedding Cake
We picked out our cake!
It is going to be somewhat like this picture :)
It will have four tiers, the bottom tier will be square and the three top layers will be round. This was a compromise because I wanted square and Jared wanted round! The lady is going to draw leaves into the frosting, and then we will add silk leaves to decorate it. It will be white cake with raspberry filling, and a buttercream frosting. What do you think?? I love it!!!!!! |

Updates
Haven't been on in awhile.....
So I've been busy working on wedding stuff, but haven't had a chance to update my blog in awhile. Aside from wedding planning, I am now down to the last 5-6 classes until I graduate! I will now graduate on September 21st with a BA in Psychology!!!
Now, other than our recent stressful changing of the reception site (see previous post), we have been somewhat busy with wedding plans. Invitations: they were done just before we found out about Swain.....so now they have to be completely redone! The people making them, family friends, are sure that they can be fixed without ruining them. Hopefully that all works out! Bridesmaids Dresses: 4 out of 6 dresses have been ordered.....having a little problem with two of my bridesmaids who haven't ordered them yet and are now ignoring my attempts at communication. Flower girls dresses have just come in, and we have already picked up the Jr. Bridesmaids dresses. My dress also has been picked up :) We have finished 17 of our centerpieces, we have the makings of the rest of them and will be trying to get them done asap. Now that our reception site has changed, we are fortunate to be able to invite more people that originally could not fit, so we are probably going to need a few more on top of that...... We have booked an awesome photographer! One of Jared's college friends' father is a photographer, and we have booked him at the mere price of $1600! Much more than our budget in the beginning, but I want to have the best pictures from my wedding day! We have begun to purchase our bridal party gifts, which I will not name here in case any of those people read this blog :) We have picked out a lot of things to order online, and will be doing so soon! I am getting so excited for the day to come! |

Reception Site Closing?!?!?!?!?!
6 months until the wedding!
Jared got a call from the sales guy from our reception site a few weeks ago. He said "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Swain is closing." Swain is a ski resort near us and our reception was going to be in the lodge restaurant upstairs. Perfect scene for my fall wedding. Apparently the owner wants to sell the whole place, so they are cancelling any plans that were booked for the rest of this year. I HAD NO SITE FOR MY RECEPTION!!!!! This has been booked for like a year now, deposit paid, decorations started based on the room.
So Jared called me at work, and of course I became an emotional mess. Jared immediately called around for a different place, and luckily a place was free for our date. We met with the lady from this new place and booked it asap! So now we have a reception site again; it's a little more pricey but well worth it! |

Music
Booked a String Quartet!
So my FMIL has offered to pay for me to have a string quartet play my ceremony music. My gma is an organist for the church, but I want her to be able to enjoy my wedding and be a part of it......so I went with a different idea. I love it! I love classical music, and they will play anything I want them to. They are $400 our of Rochester, NY, and will play 45 mins before ceremony starts up until the last person leaves the church! I am so excited!

I found my dress!!!!!
So it's the halter one, the one that has the most pictures! I can't get the captions to come up...hmm.....the pics are numbered 21-25 of my dress...... What do you think? It's completely different from what I thought I wanted! *The one I am getting is the Halter top dress......pics numbered 21-25. It won't let me "manage photos and captions!" |

Taste Testing
Yummy food!
So we went to our reception site the other night to do a taste test for our reception food. Jared, his mom, my mom, and myself went over for the tasting. I was expecting bite-sized pieces of each type of meat......not so much what we got! The coordinator that we have been working with (he's awesome!) brought out 4 huge plates filled with food to start, and then told us that he had 4 more plates in the kitchen! We tried:
1. Salmon 2. Steak with Mushrooms 3. Prime Rib with fried onions 4. Cheese Tortellini in an Alfredo sauce with mushrooms and asparagus 5. Pork with some kind of sauce 6. Chicken with spinach and roma tomatoes in a sauce 7. Lamb with mashed potatoes 8. Pecan-crusted Tilapia It was an amazing spread of food. We liked most of it. None of us cared for the salmon, but that's because none of us like it. Nobody liked the chicken either........the pork was okay, but the lamb wasn't for me. I don't like Prime Rib, so I didn't care for that........ We had to base our decisions on what my father might eat, since he is paying :) Also, there are items available that we did not try, but can try anytime we want to before we make a decision. So far, from the results of the taste-test and the items available on the menu, we are going to choose 3 entrees for our dinner buffet, which includes two side dishes, bread, and salad. Our entrees (as of now) will be the Steak (we are going to ask for the fried onions instead of mushrooms), the Cheese Tortellini in Alfredo sauce with mushrooms and asparagus, and the Chicken Wellington from the menu. We may have to have another taste test for that one :) Also, for the children in attendance.......they will offer Chicken Fingers, Macaroni and Cheese, and Mozzarella Sticks!! |

I got a promotion!!
Sorry, not wedding related!
So I was just offered the Family Services Behavior Specialist position in my agency! This is a significant raise in salary and pretty much secures my career with the agency that I currently work for! I am so excited and wanted to share my good news!
*The pic to the left is my nephew. My sister sent me this pic on my cell phone when I told her that I got the job. She told Ryan to say "Woo Hoo!" for Auntie Becky and he did! |
