Advice from a new Mrs
Hope I can help you avoid my regrets :)
All in all I had a very lovely wedding. There are a few thing I really want to share because it definitely could have gone more smoothly.

#1 - DIY brides - Finish all projects one week out. DO NOT keep working on them until last minute!! if it's not done, it's not important enough to keep. Seriously. I am STILL having dreams about trying to get stuff done for the wedding.

#2 - relax, slow down. It'll be over before you know it and if you don't slow down you will forget to do some things-like the champagne toast, dollar dance... I'm sure there's more we missed. Part of this was the projects we were finishing the day before. I was in so high gear, I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked. DId I mention I'm still having wedding dreams? I wake up with a little regret beceuse it's done and I feel like it didn't happen

#3 - To the drinkers- Stress to your bridesmaids that someone needs to stay near you at all times to slow you down on drinking, to help you pee and make you drink water. My bridesmaids I think were so tired of helping with everything, they really cut loose and I ended up drinking more than I would have liked. Maybe that's why I feel like it flew by because my memory is a little fuzzy

#4- Give VERY specific directions for decoration. You know what you want inside and out and with all the talking about it you've done, you think everyone who's helping would too but that's not true. There were several things I wanted very differenty with the center pieces and I assumed my sister knew but she's not a mind reader. Be over prepared with set up instructions! If you're a lille nervous, be there a little after set upo gets started. i was chased out and I really wished I had insisted on being there a little more because it would have been better than seeing theings set up wrong just before putting on the dress.

#5- If you ever get stage fright, wear a blusher veil. I would have loved a little something to hide under walking up the aisle. It's much more overwhelming than you think.

#6- Day of coordinator is a good thing bbut sit down and talk with them for a least an hour the week of the wedding. I wish I had because the idea was not to have to worry about anything the day of and we were stuck getting a check to the band so they would start. She wasn't the best (just started the business) but I think if I had talked with her more it would have been better. She did still help though and I still recommend having one.

#7 - if you use the chocolate or black and white invites from Michaels, get outer envelopes, It's makes the addressing easier and some of mine were torn up in transit. It's worth the extra money believe me.

So above all, BUST YOUR BUTT now girls. Don't leave anything to last minute because things you would have never thought of will come up that will keep you busier than you should be the day of. The only thing you should plan on for the big day is meals, hair, makeup and pictures, that's it. When your FH calls you crazy, don't give in and slack, you'l regret it. At the same time don't forget him in the process. Also, save all the money you can and take another day off before the wedding if possible. I really wish I had.

** pictures** these are not the professional ones, I should have those next week.
The second is my MIL, SIL and husband. The last is a photo of me with too much alcohol. Save it for the afterparty ladies! Yes it's your night but if your photos are bad and you memory gets fuzzy, it's not worth it. Don't get me wrong it's was a blast and I loved it as well as everyone who came I could have been a little more of a lady.

I hope this helps! Remember your day is your day and once it's over, it's done, so enjoy it!

Wedding Day Recap
while waiting for the pictures
The wedding was WONDERFUL! It went so fast though :( The walk up the aisle was long but the next thing I knew we were back at the hotel consumating the marriage :) we DID manage to do that

People really loved the Beatles band and we got a photobooth that was also a hit. Everyone we've talked to said it was not only one of the prettiest weddings they had been to but definitely the most fun. The groomsmen decided to wear sunglasses up the aisle, and the bride flag boys did too, which was exceptionally cute. The four flower girls was probably my favorite part of the ceremony though.

The processional song was Elvis "Can't Help Falling in Love" (Fools Rush in soundtrack) and I walked to Etta James, At Last- we've had number of compliments on the music choices. Unfortunately, I got a little stage fright and number of people said I loked like I was going to pass out :( I remember feeling very happy but it was also very overwhelming. I felt better once I was up with Jameson- who was oh so HANDSOME. We both teared up when I got up to him :)

The pictures were partially done before the ceremony, which I highly recommend and so we were done very quickly afterwards. We lined back up outside the reception entrance and the wedding party was all introduced and they really hammed it up on their way in. They hooted and hollered you wouldn't believe, busted some moves on the dance floor and then lined around it as we did our first dance.

The first dance didn't go very gracefully but it was a lot of fun and we laughed the whole time. We did it do Dave Mathews Band Crush (not the same as Crash Into Me) which wasn't the easiest to dance to but we pulled it off. The song is 8 minutes long but my brother managed to edit down to 4 which was still a little long so we invited the wedding party out with us at the end to keep it from being akward.

The wedding party was a big part of the mood of the room. I don't think I have ever known a couple who's friends all got along so well, especially since they don't see each other that often. (they will now that we're back in Texas though) You would think they had all gone to high school together! They are TROUBLE and all weekend they were into it. It rubbed off on the rest of the guests and really got everyone to relax.

My cake was a little hideous- I'm pretty mad about that but eh, it didn't ruin anything. We thoroughly smashed cake in each others faces and it was a mess but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

The last song of the night was Hey Jude and everyone fillled the dance floor to sing and dance along. It was priceless! For the exit we used bubbles and rose petals cannons for the wedding party (from ebay) The cannons were SO worth it! I haven't seen any pictures yet but it really had a magical effect. We somehow forgot our champagne toast and so we were thoroughly sprayed with the bubbly along with everything else, LOL

We then go into a white 1947 Rolls Royce which I think was just the perfect thing for the ending.

BIG sigh...... I wanna do it again.

I will soon post a review of my vendors and my lessons learned :)

Yikes! So much to do!
And so much to post and share!
THinga have been going so great and I have so many things to share with you guys from the invites and the fiasco that was to great things I've made and found! Arg- my to do list just for today is insane. I have no time to be sitting here.

Two quick notes-

If you use the same invites as me- spend the extra money on outer envelopes, some of mine were torn up in transit

If you're doing your own flowers, don't forget to sit down and peel all those pesky price sickers off. This takes longer than you would think and you don't want to mess with it on the big day.

So i'm off back to work but I'll promise now in case I'm not on again- I will post lots of pictures and give full reviews of all the vendors for all you other Dallas brides.

Unfortunately we're not geting our honeymoon so I'll be back quick. Advice- no matter how good a friend the person is who promises to pay for your honeymoon- still keep money for it because I know I could REALLY use it after the wedding, not 6 months later. C'est la vie!

Until then!

Update- it's getting so close!
I'm in Austin now- not Houston and so much to do!
So April 1st my fiance flew into Florida and we hit the road 2 days later. We made it into Houston the 4th, stayed 2 nights there getting his things together; then headed to Austin. The 7th we started moving our stuff into our new apartment and I started job hunting. I got a job bartending- Saturday is my first day to actually collect tips and we are almost settled into out place.

so wedding invitations... My sister in law finished the calligraphy on the 5th but I wasn't able to pick them up because of all the moving until this past weekend. Finally today 36 days before the wedding they are going in the mail. Yikes!

In the meantime I have to
Hem the remaining 27 table runners
make tassels for all the table runers
make the ring bearer pillow
figure out what I'm going to use for the flower girl baskets
make the crystal tree- (big storm today so hopefully I can find a branch down tomorrow!)
find damask ribbon
make table numbers
make guest book
make programs
buy bathroom basket stuff

I'm ready to elope

Ask a Question
Addressing the invites- I really need help!
ok, my sister - in-law offered her calligraphy so we wanted her to address the invitations. I have been waiting on my sister to get the invitations from the printer to my SIL for awhile now. I don't want to get mad at her because she is doing me an enormous favor but she has taken so long, my SIL now will not have enough time to do calligraphy on an outer and inner envelope. THE OPTIONS:

1- My SIL suggested we just use the envelope that this invite was designed to be mailed in. The invitations did not come with white outer envelopes; they just have a stck-on white panel to put the address on (see upper left of pic) We would skip the label and write on the black envelope with gold ink.

2- We buy outer envelopes and I hand address them and only the name on the insde envelope with be in calligraphy. or vice versa- she would use caligraphy on the address and I would handwrite the name.

I'm concerned about mailing these without a protective envelope and also worried about how clear the gold ink will be on the black. But this would be less expensive and easier than the other option.

For the outer envelopes, I'm worried it will look mismatched and also that the guests will open the envelope and completely over look the calligraphy on the front. My SIL's hard work will have been in vain.

OPINIONS? Anyone else not use an outer envelope?

Cute DIY guestbook- I need template help
I found these guest books at guestbookstore.com and fell in love. They are a little pricey I thought but they are REALLY cute and very unique. you can personalize it and they have few different damask covers. The pages are like the picture- with questions so the guests write more than their name and congratultaions.

So for mine with 160 pages it would have been $99- I don't know about shipping. The price varies, if you had a few pages I imagine it would get down to maybe $35. I have taken on making one and the price has ended up a little more than what I would have paid if I had just bought it. Too late now.

What I need help with is making the border on the pages. I am doing some different questions so I can't just copy and paste the picture onto open office draw. I have been searching a lot of templates but haven't found what I need I want either a damask style border or frilly corners. Any suggestions?

**How I'm making it
I bought some 12x12 cardstock and a scrap book from the craft store. The most expensive part is the plastic sleeves to slide the pages into. Then I am using open office draw to create the page and printing them at kinkos. If you plan to do this be sure to get cardstock that is like thick paper and not shiny or vellum. Kinkos printers get hot so if the paper is plastic like in anyway they wil not print on it for fear it will melt in their machine. It's going to cost me an extra $30 (for paper) for the guests to each have their own page. One will write on one side and another on the back. The pages will be set on a table next to the photobooth with one of my nieces there to guide people- help them attach their photo and be sure both sides get written on. I'm seriously considering buying more paper but I'm unsure right now

All in all I recommend just buying it from the website

They made me take the dress home already!!
I went for my secong fitting today and it was great. More than great- I have a dress a love and for awhile I didn't think that would ever happen.

So they told me to take it home and try it on two weeks before the wedding and bring it back then if I needed additional alterations. WHAT? I'm going to try it on everyday if it's at my house!!!

Anyone else's dress shop not hanging on to the dress? I don't think this is typical

the first one done!
I am SO happy with how these turned out. I started with the idea that sdclarinet had but Michaels didn't have enough of the cylinders in the right size. These cubes are 4 1/2" tall and 2" deep. I printed everything myself on velum. THe damask pattern I got from a link on gratefulbride's blog and the design above and below the numbers was from dd97chic's blog. I put them together on Openofficedraw which I also heard about from dd97chic. It's a free program any of y'all can download.

the front is not quite right- I will match up the pieces better. Unfortunately the paper ian't wasn't long ehough to go all the way around.

I love WBC brides!!!!
