Ask a Question
Calling all Canadian girls!!!

First of all i just wanted to check in and see just how many of us there are on here. It is really helpful to see what you guys are doing and where you are getting all your stuff from etc (seeing as we are lacking a hobby lobby tears)

Secondly does anyone know where i can get custom rubber stamps made?? I went on http://www.wordle.net/ and made a collage for my thank you cards and would like to put it on a stamp. Thanks Ladies!

Vistaprint.ca

They have a promo on right now for one free stamp, but you have to pay $5.99 to upload your own image and then shipping costs. Here is the link for the promo:
{ Vistaprint Promo}

Keep in mind that you can only get the stamp in one colour, so the collage would only be in black, red or blue, whichever ink colour you choose.

I'm canadian!! I'm getting all my fashions from a home town store (because one of the bridesmaids mom's owns it). I like Micheals for DIY stuff. Since it is pretty much one of the only good big craft stores. I also LOVE ebay!! You can find just about everything on there!

I have also been having trouble finding good stores to buy stuff for DIY projects and all that. I have been relying on Michaels, Wal-mart and Ebay...even though Ebay sometimes sucks because of high shipping charges to Canada (which bums me out!!!)

I am also a Canadian bride...although, NOT from Ontario, as it seems the rest of the ladies are!! I'm an Albertan bride!!

I'm a HUGE fan of Michael's. I make a list of things I need to buy...wait for a 40% or 50% off coupon week and then round up some friends...pass out the coupons and go shopping. This way I can get everything I need for at least 40% off. It's a bit tedious, but SOOO worth it!! Not to mention the list making helps me stay organized!

Ebay is also a big help, if you can find some good deals. One of my bridesmaids has an aunt who lives in Michigan, so we've been getting all the crazily overpriced shipping items to go there, and she's sending them up here. It works really well. I suggest you find a buddy who lives in the states, it saves you a TON of money!!!

I'm also a HUGE fan of Etsy.com. There are a pile of fabulous creations on there...I've found some great people who've helped me a lot. For example, if you search "simply embellish" you'll find a store that makes stickers....you can even design your own and send it to her to be made. They're VERY reasonably priced, and Karen, the owner, is amazing. If you mention my name, you'll get free shipping!!! I bought stickers for all my takeout boxes, and then also for our invitations, with our monogram on them.

I also bought makeup bags for my girls through wooden creations. She's also really great!!

Another idea is to make friends on here! I posted an item about getting Damask packing tape, and there were a few people who emailed me offering to get it shipped to their house and they would send it up to Canada (Which would've saved me about $100....between shipping and duty!). If you post items that you need to buy, but are going to end up paying a small fortune for in shipping, generally there are other brides more than willing to help out!!!

Good luck with everything!!!!

I'm a Canadian Bride :)  getting married July 4th, 2009.  I'm looking for nice silk gerbera daisies for my centre pieces.   I never thought I'd be OK with fake flowers but I went to a wedding where they had them and they looked awesome.  this way I can do them myself ahead of time.  I cannot find a Canadian supplier with a good white gerbera daisy with a green centre.  there are lots of American ones but the Canadian dollar is not good right now.  anyone have any ideas????   (belabride, hope you dont mind me posting a question on your post!)

I'm a canadian bride!! I recently went to New York and hit up a Michael's there.  It was so much cheaper there that it would probably be worth it for brides that are close enough to just drive to buffalo.  It's nice to be in contact with some Canadian gals!

Canadian Here!

I am using Michaels, Winners, and stuff online. Sux that the dollar is going down, because there was some stuff I was intending to order from the states but I'll have to try and find somewhere in Canada.

I'm a Canadian bride, but I'm getting married in the States.  Since my family lives in Michigan, I try to stock up on supplies while I'm there.  Walmart actually has a surprising amount of wedding supplies if you don't feel guilty for shopping at the super giant.

I'm a Canadian Bride!!

There really are a lot of us on here.

Like everyone else, I've been relying on Wal-Mart and Michael's.  I also tend to shop locally, with some of the small businesses.  We have a very nice scrapbooking store with high-quality craft supplies. I bought all my paper at Staples or a locally owned stationary store.

I think being creative has it's perks.  I've found our monogram at Dominion (Loblaws)!  It was technically a Christmas ornament, but it was just a silver monogram with rhinestones on it.  :)

Hey all- I'm from Calgary but I'm getting married in BC.

Not too much new to suggest- I'm a huge fan of ebay, etsy, Michaels (especially on coupon day!) and Walmart.  I do also check the home decorating stores (IKEA, Home Outfitters, Pier 1, Linens and things, etc) from time to time.  I've picked up gorgeous damask frames and candles that were on sale.  Especially since its getting into Christmas decor season there will probably be a lot of little gidgits that will work as wedding decor.

I am a maritime Bride, and let me tell you, I find it had to find the stuff that I want at the stores around here!  I basically have been hitting Michael's on a regular basis, and try the dollar stores, and fabric shops...

mrsbernard I know exactly how your feel....

there isn't much over here on the east coast. ebay is my best friend, but you all know about the expensive shipping.

Its so hard to find a store online, that ships to canada and cheap shipping!!!

Its so great to see Canadian brides!!! Does anyone else feel like they live in the middle of nowhere compared to other brides on here???
I too am Canadian (New Brunswick)...and let me tell you...there is nothing to choose from here.  I mostly do my shopping online too.  Where I am from, the choice is super expensive or nothing.   :(
So its Walmart, Michaels (which is crazy expensive without coupons in my opinion).

I am Canadian also. :) Great to see so many here!

I'm around the GTA in Ontario. There is a stationery store in Waterloo called The Scribe's Nook, and they mentioned they make custom stamps. I know it's about 2h out of your way, but it might be worth a look if you are ever in the area.

Something that really helped me was The Wedding Ring, which has a few Ontario locations. It gives reviews of vendors and that sort of thing. It doesn't have a Whitby-specific area, but maybe you can find some locations close to you. :)
