Wedding Flowers
Second guessing... what color?

To say I was disappointed with by florist consultation would be an understatement. It is nothing against the florist, she is very lovely and tried very hard to find something to please me. The problem was every flower I wanted for our July wedding is unavailable that month.

I have always wanted peonies, and when we picked the date for the wedding I even called a florist to make sure we could get them I was told yes then, then no 6 months prior to the wedding... I can't change the date now. So started looking for a new flower that would suit. Next I fell in love with anemoes for their big black center that just pops, and goes perfect with our black, white and hot pink wedding. When I was told no for those, I went to my next new favorite, ranunculus, for their unique-ness and elegance. Again I was told sorry, but no!

Finally we added up with flowers with the 'fluffy' feel I wanted and flowers that came in Hot Pink. My bouquet is made of white hydangeas, white lisinathus and accents of hot pink carnations and roses. The BMs will carry bouquets of all hot pink gerberas, carnations and roses which will hopefully pop beautifully against their black dresses.

My dress is white, and I plan to wear a black sash. The boys are in black tux's with white shirt, black vest and tie. The groom in the same with a black and white damask tie. Their boutonniere's are hot pink roses.

Here is my dilemma... I'm not sure I want pink in my bouquet. I need your help. Do i stick with what I've ordered? Or change to either all white, or all white with black (likely feathers) bouquet. I am just worried about the continuity between me, the girls and the boys if I change.

This sounds all too familiar! I had the same issues ... being a gardener I completely didn't put two and two together when I knew I wanted Peonies and set our date for August ... duhh! I was VERY disappointed to say the least when I finally did realize that peonies were not going to be happening. cry! You should ask if your florist can bring in cabbage roses or sahara roses, they are really open and full looking?

Anyways, best of luck - I hope you still love your bouquets in the end!

If you don't want to have pink in your bouquet, then how about going with the black & white bouquet and adding a few black feathers to the BM's bouquets instead so they still coordinate? personally, I love seeing a bride with colored flowers- they really pop against the white of the gown. my girls and I all carried hot pink roses and they were stunning in the photos.

you should ask about cabbage roses they look and even smell very similar to peonies and you should be able to get them in both pink and white also they should actually be less expensive than peonies. I think anything you do for colors would look great especially since you are choosing an easy color. If you go with white for your bouquet you should also think about spider mums, they are bigger flowers and could give great volume and texture to your bouquets. good luck with this!!
