Wedding Reception
12 Days Left- Need to Vent!
I am getting married in 12 days and I am on cloud 9. I only have one major stress right now- the florist and not being able to reach him, but I feel like everything will work out in the end.
I do want to see how many of you brides have to or at some point, had to deal with this crap. Anyone have any family or friends turn around and threaten not to come to the wedding?! I am the furthest thing from a Bridezilla, so this seems like it could be a common thing. First person who said it: My cousin- he started to develop feelings for a co-worker of mine back in the winter and started showing up at our job. I had to ask him VERY nicely to stop showing up at work because I need to keep myself professional. He got mad and said he wasn't coming to the wedding. He called a month later, apologized and said of course he will be there. Second person- My fiance's cousin- she is the co-worker by cousin liked and decided to leave the job and tried to go out with a bang. She picked up and left everything- tried to get the office in trouble with the state by planting alcohol and calling the inspector to come and make sure the place met state regulations- she went all kinds of crazy. My fiance had a talk with her- she's 21 and we are 28, and explained that when she gets older, she will see there was a more mature way she could have handled things where she could leave on good terms and use them as a reference. Well, she thought that was being called immature and told us she wasn't coming. She was supposed to do a church reading and everything- she and her boyfriend are not coming. Third person- My fiance's mom. My fiance has one brother, who is 21. He is our best man. He had asked if we could have some of his friends come who we like if we had the room for them and we said yes. We ended up inviting 5 of his friends- 2 bringing dates. It comes time to do the tables and we put him with his friends, making the table 8 ppl like we were told to do by the venue. Well, he doesn't want to sit with them for some reason and his mom said he would sit with her and her family. My fiance said, "No, he wanted his friends there, he is sitting with them. It's our decision where people sit. If he goes to your table, it would be crowded." She said, "Well if he can't sit with me and he won't be comfortable, then we won't come." Now this was 2 days ago- we both just said, "Then don't come". They are coming and sitting where we put them. I feel like I have busted my ass so much planning this thing and people are just mean. Ugh! Anyone else have to deal with this nonsense?! |

Here is the finished product using the kit from Michaels. Our colors are black, white and red, so we added the red ribbon. We have heard amazing feedback on how people love them. :)

Wedding Invitation
Mailed Them!
After lots of work- typing, ribbon tying, printing, re-printing, stamping, sealing, etc, we mailed out our wedding invitations this morning! We have a few more to send out tomorrow, but we didn't have their addresses. I feel SO much less stress now :)

One Thing I Did By Myself :)
Hello Everyone! I wanted to add something personal to the BM gifts. I bought them jewelry, a cute tote and I wanted to make something. Here it is! It's our colors and part of our theme (Robert Indiana's LOVE sculpture in NYC). Everything is from Michaels!
I plan on printing out a pic of each BM's celebrity crush and putting those in the frames until we have a nice group shot from the wedding day. The middle shows the reflection of my chandelier in the dining room ;) |

Menus??
Hey Everyone :) Since this whole wedding thing is new to me, I have a question. If the guests pick their meal before the reception, do we make a menu? OR, do we make a menu with the list of appetizers, entrees, etc?? Can we make one per table?? I don't think I ever had a menu to look at and I have been to a bunch of weddings.

Since I bought the sexy red heels for the reception, my FH says he want's fun shoes too. Our theme is LOVE (The sculpture by Robert Indiana) with all Beatles music for the major events of the day. Well, after some hunting online, I found these few items to go along with out theme.

Found my Reception Shoes!
I have been looking all over the place for the perfect color/height/style/comfortable red heels to wear for our reception. Something told me to run into Famous Footwear today while I was out running errands. I think I have been in that place once. Well, after looking at every pair of shoes just to see what they had, I spotted them. A pair of shoes I have been checking out online....best part is, they were on clearance for $30!!! They were the only pair left too! It's like they were there waiting for me :) Now I have just over 4 months to break them in while I do chores around the house ;)

David's Bridal Messes Up BIG Time
Ready for this?? I got engaged the beginning of last September and began planning our wedding for this coming Sept. My mom and dad were moving out of NY and down to Florida, so my mom and I made sure to find a dress before she moved. We went to DB on October 3rd and found the perfect dress. Luckily, they made my dress in petite, so I could save money on hemming it. They do not carry petite in their stores, so they told me they had to order it and it would take up to six months. I happened to be in a different DB out of state 2 weeks ago and decided to check on the status on my dress- it was 5 1/2 months and no word. The Manager looked in the computer and under my name, it said I picked my dress up on October 3rd. Um, wait a second.....
The Manager I was with knew right away that there was a mistake. She called the DB in Danbury, CT where I ordered it and the sales person kept insisting that I picked it up. The Manager I was with kept repeating, "That is impossible! We don't carry petite! And why would she want 2 wedding gowns?!" Then the Manager from CT got on the phone and knew that they had made a mistake. She said she would put the order in within the next 5 minutes and will rush it. Oh yeah, as I was trying on dresses for another wedding, the Manager asked me why if a size 2 was big on me, then why were they ordering a size 4. Um, good question since the order was supposed to be a 2P. IDIOTS! She called back and the woman in CT said she didn't have a chance to do it yet and to give her 5 more minutes. I waited an hour and 45 minutes!!! I was fuming. I finally got the paperwork to show the order was in and for the right size and left. I called the CT store the following Monday and they said there was nothing they could do- it was a "simple mistake". Yeah, um, not good enough. Also, this dress was also paid for! My mom and I split the cost and paid over the last few months. I got the number for customer service and the woman, Nancy, on the other end, felt terrible. She immediately offered to track the dress for me and she said she was refunding me 20% of the cost of the dress after taxes. She has also called me to let me know if will be in at the end of May. I am praying this is my only bump in the road!!! |
