Centerpieces for color theme
Floral centerpieces are a simple way to bring your color theme to life at every table. However, theyre also the most conventional way. As a way to bring something different to the average centerpiece, many brides are adding fruit, vegetables, or other items to their centerpieces to give them extra flare and color.
Fruits are a very easy, and sometimes economical, way to add color and pizzazz to a centerpiece. Whether they are the centerpiece, or only accenting it, its still a great idea. A big trend now (for example, in a green color theme) is to use something like sliced limes in the bottom of a floral arrangement. If you have a blue color theme, you could also use blueberries in the bottom of the arrangement. Of course, a clear glass vase is a must with something like this. But the flowers on the top and the color peeking through at the bottom give a different element to the normal arrangement. I have also seen brides use green apples tucked in beside hydrangea and roses. This could then carry through to the favors or even a green apple theme for the invitations and stationary. Some brides dont even use flowers in the centerpieces, but instead use clear cylinder vases and fill them with water and anything from cherries or strawberries to entire artichokes or oranges. The cylinder vases can be bought for little money at places like Hobby Lobby and Michaels, especially when they have them on clearance. Fruit can also be purchased at wholesale stores like Costco or Sams Club, or at farmers markets. If you put the fruit in water the night before the reception, they will absorb the water and sink rather than float at the top. Since fruit comes in such a wide variety of colors (anything from the yellow of a lemon to the brown and green of a kiwi or deep red of a cherry) it is easy to match almost any color palette. Those are all great ideas for spring or summer weddings, but what about fall and winter? Fall weddings can be spruced up with pumpkins and leaves. If you have an orange theme for a fall wedding, carve a few jack-o-lanterns and put them on the tables with dried leaves scattered around them. The candlelight will make for a great ambiance. Winter weddings look great with hurricanes or cylinder vases full of colorful Christmas ornaments on the tables. You can stick with glass balls all in one color, or fill them with assorted colors and textures. The ornaments with sequins or glitter look amazing with candlelight flickering off of them. |
