Favors to match theme
Wedding favors tips
When you look up the word favor on dictionary.com, some of the definitions include, a small gift or decorative or festive item, and, a gift bestowed as a token of goodwill, kind regard, love. For guests at your wedding, favors are sometimes an unexpected treat. They are also a way for you to give a very personalized gift to your guests as a way of thanking them for attending your wedding.
A simple start to personalizing your favors is to coordinate them with your wedding color theme. For example, for my wedding next year one of the ideas I had for favors was to give my guests iced sugar cookies. The cookies would be topped with white frosting and then have our new monogram on them: one cookies monogram in pink icing, the other in green (our two colors). They would then be placed in pink bakery boxes. If I really wanted to get into the color theme, I could then put a green ribbon around the box, or put a green tag on it that had a note of thanks.
Coordinating favors with your selected color theme is becoming very popular. Many couples are using themes like, A perfect pair, and then having green pear favors. Likewise, some couples who have fall weddings are doing green apple themes. At one point I was planning a fall wedding and, still having my green theme and being a huge apple fan, was going to have sparkling apple cider as a favor. I even found the sparkling cider in green glass bottles to along with my green color theme! I was also going to make my own labels for the sparkling cider that read, Heather and Dustin: A sweet, sparkling love. Another option Ive seen would be to say, A golden delicious love, to play off the apple theme.
Coordinating your favors with your color theme is an incredibly simple way to personalize them. Papermart.com is a great source for things like pink bakery boxes or other boxes in assorted colors. They also have colored cellophane bags. Another great place is Paper-source.com. They have white favor boxes that you can then detail with stickers or ribbon in your color theme. A friend of mine bought her favor boxes there and then bought chocolate and fuchsia paper (stripes, floral, etc.) that went along with her theme. She bought a Xyron machine and made the paper strips into stickers that she then used to decorate the boxes. She went a step further and sealed them with a circle sticker emblemized with a simple chocolate or fuchsia t (her new last initial) rubber stamp imprint.
Bakery items or sweets are a simple way to get your favor to match your colors. Cupcakes and sugar cookies can very easily be topped with any color of icing. Also, these are a great gift for you guests to take home, and it gives the night a very sweet ending!
