DIY Wedding program and more projects
OK so I have been a busy little diy bride for the past few days! I justs finished the mock up of my wedding programs, and They look GOOD! If I must say myself! I did a 4 layer with vellium overlay.
Also adding a picture of my RB basket. I did a diy pillow but didnt like the way it turned out AT ALL! And I really don't want a traditional pillow so I stuffed cotton into this cute little $1 basket I found at the $ store a few months ago, I didnt know what I was gonna use them for but whallah! Then I cover the cotton with a piece of fabric,glued two fabric roses to the top,and a piece of beaded ribbon around the outter top edge, still need to add the rings and thats about all. Cake shopping and helpful TIP!
Ok fellow WBC brides I thought I would share with you my experience with wedding cake shopping and a very helpful, valuable tip that was shared with me on this journey!
Ok I started out looking at cakes very early in my planning, and came across some lovely cakes. But the one idea that really sat with me was the Cupcakes! I searched and searched for ideas on how I could display cupckaes instead of cake at my wedding. I had just heard reviews from my fiances cousins wedding where the guest complained that they didnt get a big enough slice of cake, so when I saw the cupcakes I knew that was the wasy for us to go as far as our cake! Well little did I know I was about to be tried with the price. we went for our cake tasting with a very popular local grocery baker who is well known for thier cakes. We chose the flavors we were interested in and a 6 inch cake because we decided we would do the cupcake tree which I am going to purchase from cupcaketree.com. Ok we thought we was all set with the cake until we was emailed a price quote of $450 for 150 cupcakes!!!!!! WTF!!!! Thats was just not an option! Im a budget bride. So the crafty bargain shopper that Iam gets on craigslist and posts a ad for a cupcake baker. I swear I had more responses than I could respond to even weeks after I had posted the ad. Anyways there was one email that I got from a girl who was very nice and helpful...... She advised me of not telling the baker that the cupcakes are for a wedding, to basically go in with a design in mind and let them now how many cupcakes are needed, well I called the same local grocery store bakery, just a different location gave them the total number of cupcakes needed and it turned out to be more than half of what they was trying to charge us because we said they were wedding cupcakes. They actuallu quoted exactly what my budget allowed which was $125 for 150 cupcakes and a seven inch cake! So I thought I would share this with everyone. Hope I have been on some help! |

Hello,
I am in my final phases of wedding planning. Our original wedding date was May 21, 2011 but we had to postpone until September 24 due to me falling and breaking my hip. Any how I still have a few things to take care of and really hope to get some good ideas from here. Well my questio is this: How are those of you who are having a buffet style reception be setting up your tables? The only thing I have decided on so far is the center piece.
