Wedding Budget
How do you know your budget?

I always said when I got married I was going to fly to Vegas and get married by Elive. Well that day has come and now I dont want Elvis. How do you put a price on your special day? I am not rich and neither are mt parents. My dad is about to lose his job so now really isnt the time to ask about a budge. I am going to try and pay for it on my own but have no clue where to start. Is the budge like the same thing when a man buys you a ring (two months salary). I am sure its not going to be that easy. Please help!

I honestly couldn't even tell you. I never set a budget and we still haven't. I don't suggest doing this. We found our perfect venue and thankfully that basically included everything except the photography and cinematography (which my mom is paying for).

We are basically paying for the venue, but we have given ourselves a 15 month engagement to save for our dream wedding.

sorry to hear about your dad losing his job
personally my FH, me, and our families desided to go in 1/3s. so $10,000 from each 1/3. I based my budget off the $30,000. and used theknot.com tofigureout about how much i am to be spending on each thing. so far i believe i'm okay! it's great that glamdivabride hasnt set a budget, but personally $20,000 of my budget is already used toward the hall/food, dj, photographer, and church (including classes, and music for the church). i have my dress too, but my mom said thats not part of the budget for me. so with $10,000 let i still have to get flowers/decorations for hall, church, and people in the wedding party; the cake, a limo, and make sure my friend will video record everything.......$10,000 can go far but i'm scared to see how much flowers are. and i'm not sure how much we are spending on honeymoon!! trust me i'm love my hall, but there is another hall i would have rather got......it was also $20 more a person......so you do need some sort of budget.

We never actually sat down and figure done out. But if I were you I'd sit down and figure out a guest list, as catering and a venue are the most expensive aspects. Shop around a bit and see what sort of prices come up, that would at least give you an idea of the basic expenses.
I find having a number is easier to work with than just figuring out a budget.
I just lined up the most expensive vendors first, venues, food, flowers, dress and photographer and went from there.

Welcome Girlfriend! I am so EXCITED you joined!! My first advice to you would be to try to figure out your guest list and work it from there. What you consider important to you and FH. Then take it from there. Search out vendors pricing, that way you have an idea what your looking to spend and what they have to offer. Please never hesitate to call me or ask...I'm always here to help! :) Once again! Welcome! You are gonna love it here!! All of the WBC's Brides are very helpful and have GREAT advice to give!

i made a list ...what i need to buy/hire/rent
than you just call around, do research online...and so on till you get a idea of what is how much...then add it up...and then...well ..i would say try to recover from that number...hihi...well thats what i had to do...

you will find out how long you need to work and save money for your wedding and if it is worth to you, spend that much or try to do some stuff yourself..(i think it can be very rewarding and personal)...ask friends and fam ...they might know someone who knows some one....you know ....and get a friendship price or as a wedding gift ...for free ...... :)....like DJ, Caterer,Location, Ceremony music,....

sorry i wanted to make it short ...just one more thing...
I do my own flowers...i know thats the one thing everybody has big respect off...but it is easyer than you think and you can do it and it does not take that much time ....just practice and working with flowers is amazing...you will love it (if you are a patient person) ...but its not for everybody, and you could (depends how big you go) save a lot of money....

find out what is important to you on your day....

i think you should splurge on  .......the honeymoon....
..its .the best part...just you and your honey....and the wedding stress is over....

xoxo
