Disposable cameras...
So we have actually decided against a photographer for the wedding to save on costs.

We have decided that we are going to place disposable cameras on the tables and let everyone in on remembering our day.

My brother-in-law actually juz bought a new super fancy camera so I asked him if he would be our "photographer". Figured we'd give him a chance to really experiment with it!!

I'm excited...I think it'll be juz as good as spending all that money on a professional!!

**UPDATE** (in reference to kimmyb's comment) - First of all thank you kimmyb...it's appreciated. The answer is yes...I have thought of all that...funny thing is, is that I have done wedding photography. I have photographed 7 wedddings in my time, some graduation pix, some engagement pix and a few other jobs. I know most of the ropes when it comes to photo shoots. Sorry that I failed to mention that. Promise my "photographer" and I are not juz going out on a limb!!! lol!!

THANX kimmyb!!!

I hope you don't take what I say to be mean and I certainly don't mean to rain on your parade or anything but my friend did this and spent so much money on these cameras and after the wedding half of them were missing...people actually took them home. Then the ones that she did have left had maybe 3 pictures that were actually photos she could use. They ended up being a total waste of money. People played with them mostly and took photos of stupid things like their feet and due to the fact the reception hall was a little dark the rest of the photos didn't even turn out (cause they are cheap disposables afterall).  Just something to think about before you spend that much money on them.

Also, I totally agree with not spending a fortune on a photographer however after your wedding day the only two things you have to show for it is your rings and your photos. Make sure if you are asking someone to take photos that they know what photos you want and what you are expecting. It's one thing to have a great camera but you need to have someone who knows a little about what they are doing too. For example, my dad always cuts off peoples heads when he takes pictures so I wouldn't be asking him to take photos. Make sure your brother in law knows what he is doing or you'll be one disappointed bride after your big day.

Phew....I was worried there for a minute! hehe. I worked in photography too and I just see so many girls do stuff just to save money and then end up disappointed in the end. Thanks for clarifying.

You may be interested in this company called CameraRenter: www.CameraRenter.com. Instead of using disposable cameras [and all the waste that goes along with them] or requiring your guests to upload their pictures to a website [which they won’t do], they rent digital cameras [fully insured] and create a free picture sharing website for you. More info: http://www.squidoo.com/renting_digital_cameras_for_your_wedding

My sister had disposable cameras at her wedding at some of the best photos were taken with the,. We told people they could take them home and send her the doubles so she didn't end up having to develop most of them. I developed the rest for her. No one took them home. I think it's a great idea, I'm buy 10 for my wedding!
