After the wedding Blog site?????
So I saw a post on here from another bride (sorry I don't remember where or who) who mentioned how cool it would be to have an after the wedding blogsite! I totally agree! So many of us have obtained useful information, ideas, tips, crafts and even made some friends on here. So why not have an after the wedding site that not only can be about the ups and downs but also advice, babies and pregnancy, sharing recipes and ideas/deals, craft ideas and more at home DIY. I know i do a ton of craft projects around the house from making blanketsa and lamps, bulletin boards, jewelry and love to cook! Plus it would be nice to keep getting ideas and advice from other girls. Normally if its family or friends they can sometimes sugar coat things and I like hearing things straight up and from people who have delt with the same thing. What do you girls think? Maybe if we get enough people who agree then we could get it done!

Ok so for the brides like me who wanna make their own invites, std's, menu's and other items.....I found the perfect site (at least to me). Its called weddingclipart.com. If you see something you like, just let me know on here what you want and ill download and email it to you. Because it costs money to join...and I already did. These pictures are just a few examples...but soooo many more! Hope its useful to you!

Ok so sorry it took me a decade to get the completed pictures up. Had to get my digital out of FH's car =) So here it is!! Its now all nicely wrapped up in a trash bag in our "wedding room" Luckily I have a large apartment and already have a bedroom full of wedding supplies! Not only did i pick up the vases last week at Michaels, but i went to hobby lobby and got our mirrors for 50% for the reception tables!! Saved me 100 bucks! So now my card box goes along with my other supplies stacked away!

Deposit down!!!
Over the weekend we went to Tara's Cakes in Hattiesburg. A cute little shop with the most beautiful cakes and designs I have ever seen!! She and her staff were so sweet to us! They normally do appts on Tues and Wed., however because my mother and gma were in town I needed to have it on Saturday-which is the day they deliver the cakes to the weddings. She still set time aside for us to meet and listened to everything i wanted but also gave me some honest opinions on things! (Like no filling ;) I looked at other cakes in the area and no one compared to her work! So if there are any brides in the MS, you should go to www.tarascakes.com and take a look!!! She even does the cakes for Brett Favre's family!
This is the exact DESIGN of the cake we are having. The white part is going to be hot pink and the black part will stay the same. We are not having the flowers on top. Instead of the flowers on top, if you look at the second picture (the creme cake) we are going to have a edible ribbon top like that one. Since we are saving the top layer of our cake for our wedding anniversary, we are going to add another layer so ours will be a little bit bigger than the one pictured. The ribbon isn't going to be just sitting on top though. We are going to have monogram letters (small "s" and "j" and large "G") The ribbon will then fall around the letters. I wish i could find a picture to show it but i couldnt :( |

DIY Almost done!
So I had a really busy weekend and didn't have too much time to get done so hopefully this weekend will be much more productive :) This didn't take me long at all to do and sorry the lighting is off in the picture....the pink is actually a nice fuschia/magenta color but i had used my camera on my cell phone to take pictures since i left my digital at work. Anyways I just have my ribbon and bow to place and i will be all finished!! I wanted something bigger than normal.. I also will be putting something along the cuts for the card slot. Along i haven't decided if i wanna do the bead or the ribbon. = ) Just wanted to show some some step by step pictures! Ill be finishing tonight and i will put pics up tomm or the next day! Very easy to do so if anyone needs any help...just let me know

Another DIY
So today I created my first Save the Date Draft. We are having our engagement photos taken this Saturday so Ill be using one of those photos when we get them back :) I wanted something very simple and because of the colors really didn't want a design in there because i didn't want it to be too much. The picture looks real sketchy but i wont be using it anyways on here. Really only took me a few minutes to do because of how simple it is....but take a look and let me know if you think it needs something more. Thanks!!
I also finished my card box ~ painted and glossed this weekend. Ill be putting photos up of it later. I just have to add the ribbon and my bow to it and then it will be finished and put away for storage!! :) |

What are you doing to honor the parents?
Whether its just your mother, his mother or moms and dads, are you going to do anything to honor them? If so what are your plans?
My mother has always been the biggest role model in my life. She and Justin are my best friends. My mother has always been a guiding light for me all through out my life. We have such an amazing relationship together and she is the sweetest thing ever!! I don't get to see her or my dad very much because They live in ohio (where im from) and I live in MS. I want to do something amazingly special for her and my father for being such great parents to me and my siblings. Im always doing little things for them but i thought maybe at the rehearsal I would the parents scrapbooks of us. My mom and dad will receive a scrapbook with photos and newspaper clippings of me when i was little up until now with the end full of pictures of me and Justin. Justin's parents will receive one with pictures and clippings of him from little up until now then finished with pictures of us. On the last page they can put our wedding picture if they want. I think its a pretty good idea right now. Just not sure if its good enough.....opinions would be greatly appreciated along with any ideas or even what you are doing. Thanks!! |

Michaels and Hobby Lobby
Even though my wedding is a year away I have to start early as possible. The reason for this is because I am in the ARMY. I work full time at a mobilization site in MS-meaning we do all the paperwork to send soldiers to IRAQ, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Starting at the end of August we have large units coming and by the time they leave in December we have several large units coming home so I will be very busy at work from Aug-March. Therefore I wanted to get a jump start on things....and hey a girl always loves sales!!!
Most girls on here talk about Michaels so much and I do love going there for beads and other items so I thought I'd check out their wedding section. I went yesterday because they were having their Dollar Days sale and I bought my square vases for $2 each (centerpiece item) which is normally $5 each. So instead of spending $105 for them I spent $42. I also had a 20% percent coupon off my entire purchase!! I picked up some iron transfers that weren't on sale (oops my bad) and headed to the wedding area. I am surprised to admit I was pretty disappointed but I figured maybe some stores are different (although this one is pretty large!) or maybe it just needs restocked. I headed to Wal-Mart next because I still wanted to pick up the stuff for my card box. Found nothing there!! And actually found out that Wal-Mart’s nationwide are cutting their craft section in half at every store!! This sucks!! I then headed to Hobby Lobby and OMG I love that store. I normally don’t go there for craft items because it’s usually more than Michaels although they have nice stuff. Well they were having a huge sale on everything!! I got all of my boxes for the card box, glue and paint for 50% off. Then I headed to the wedding section and saw that ribbon is 50% off. So I picked up tons of pick and black for later on when I do my invitations. (I have a 3 drawer pink container that i'm keeping all wedding supplies in until I need them.) I think I prob bought around 30 things of ribbon and got them for 50cents. I was also so excited to find the mini candy jars there for my favors. But I am going to wait until I have a good coupon before I pick those up. They also had adorable flip flops for both groom and bride!! I just wanted to tell you ladies to check ur papers and online. Just because your wedding is far away doesn’t mean you can't start now. I have found so many deals on different things!! I have loads of DIY stuff that I am doing and am so excited because I just LOVE crafts....got that from mom :) Anyways hope your wedding planning is going great and Ill be putting up pictures whenever I get some things finished. |
