my DIY wedding invites!

I'm a little delayed with adding pics, but I wanted to share my DIY pocket fold wedding invites because I'm very proud of them!

The picture with the stack of them - that is about 20 invites .... I made about 100 total!!! Yes, 100. If I had paid someone to make them they would have cost 800 dollars!!! BUT since I like DIY projects, it only cost me about 250-300 dollars!

from start to finish (wording to final product) I would say this took me about 3 weeks. That is putting in at least 4-5 hours a day after work & about 10 hours on weekends.

Honeymoon

one word ... HAWAII!!!!!!!!!

It's been quite the battle to pick a honeymoon destination ... I wanted the beach, but getting married in September kind of didn't allow for the Caribbean! Seriously do hurricanes NEED to happen!?

SO we decided on a 12 night European Cruise ... like Italy, Greece, Spain, Morraco, and some other places ... but once we looked further into it, we realized that it wasn't US ... we would have to dress up every night for dinner and what not ... and we are more of the casual kind of people. Also got into the dilemma of 'what to do at port?'. SO one night I had a BRILLIANT plan ... HAWAII! why didn't I think of this before!

Our honeymoon plan: 6 nights in Hawaii (Honolulu), then 7 night cruise around Hawaii! We are planning on boarding the plane on Sunday at 7am ... yes ... SUNDAY ... morning after we get married ... I can see it now ... I'm still going to have bobby pins and crazy hair spray and curls all over the place as I board the plane ... oh lord haha.

Here is where I need your help ladies! Is it a good plan to leave Sunday morning??

Here she is!!

This is my dress, I love my dress sooo much, she is so beautiful :) I'm officially a Maggie bride.

I bought my dress on valentines day and she should be ready in July! I had to bring my shoes with me to see how they look together & I loveeeeeeeee it! Everyone in the store was loving the combo together!

The dress I have on in the pictures is 2 sizes too big, which made me feel fantastic haha. I didn't put crinoline on when i took these pics, but I know how it looks with it because i've tried that dress on soooo many times already lol. My friend gave me her crinoline so I don't need to buy any!

I had a fantastic idea of making these cute invites for our flower girl and ring bearer card. They were super easy to make as well ... the only set back I had was finding printable cards for a laser printer ... BUT once I found the right paper everything went well!

Also I'm happy to add that both Brooklyn and Koen have accepted :) I'm super excited!!

my bridesmaid dress!

Alright so back in Feb (valentines day to be exact) I planned on going to my bridal store with my mom, future mother in law and Tiff - my sister in law so they could see my wedding dress & so I could show Tiff the bridesmaid dress I wanted them to get. I had originally had my other 3 bridesmaids in with me before & they liked the dress so it was tiff's turn to see if she agrees.

So Tiff tried on the blue dress (which we would have gotten in brown) & she liked it ... as i was putting the deposit down for my wedding dress we saw this dress (brown dress on the side pic) behind the counter in chocolate brown! Tiff pointed at it and said 'ooo thats pretty what do you think of that dress?' I looked up and said 'WOW! That is going to be the new bridesmaid dress!!' so we got a sample dress that was in Tiff's size & it looked amazing! So i had my other bridesmaids come in with me a few days later and they totally love the new dress! It has more detail and complements my dress as well. The dresses will be knee length.

SO pretty :)

I was kind of stressing out about finding a florist because I've heard some horror stories ... so one day I called my dentist office to confirm my upcoming appointment and I was chit chatting with the receptionist who I've know for a good few years since I've been going to this dentist ... we get along SOOO well! so she was asking me what I still need to do for my wedding & i mentioned that i'm looking for a florist & she started to laugh and said 'you know I'm a florist right??' and i just about fell off my chair! I was so damn excited to hear that because me and her have the same taste so i got her email address & I've been sending her pics of all of my ideas - not just floral - she's practically become my wedding planner lol ... shes amazing & I'm SUPER happy with her!

Here are some of my ideas for my center pieces - I picked up vases from ikea 22cm square vases & they were only $5.99!!! That is a wicked good deal :) I chose square because I want to add the ribbon as seen in pic #2.

The Proposal

Varadero Cuba

So I was thinking how I should start my blog ... where better to start than with the proposal!

Chris and I have been to Cuba 3 times together and have totally fallen in love with the country. What better place for him to propose than our favorite getaway location.

This past Winter we took our 4th trip to Cuba ... Janaury 7, 2008 10am, we start getting ready to go to the beach, I got the beach bag & Chris grabs the towels. We found the 'perfect spot' on the beach where there were not too many other people around. We pulled the beach chairs over and we laid out the towels to soak up the sun. I was the first to sprawl out on my beach chair, and I kind of noticed that Chris wasn't lying down but I didn't think too much of it. So as I'm lying on my beach chair we were chatting away at how perfect the day is as the weather was beautiful and the ocean was so clear ... so Chris asks 'hey babe, how much do you love me?' which to me, didn't strike me as odd, we always tease each other and try to out do the other. So I spread my arms out as far as they could go and I said ' I love you thhhhhhhhhis much!' (keep in mind that I'm still lying on my back lol). I heard him giggle as his response ... so then I asked him 'how much do you love me babe?' and he says 'I love you this much' as I pulled my head up to see how far he was spreading his arms ... he was one knee in the sand with my ring in his hand! I bawled, hugged, kissed, bawled some more haha then said 'omg my answer is yes!'

& that is how he proposed!
