Location #1
MaClay Gardens
Yesterday Justin and I went to check out Alfred B Maclay Gardens. It was very beautiful and so many different locations to have the ceremony at. The house for the reception was adorable as well. It was nice, they gave us a guide on which flowers would be in bloom and told us we could have it anywhere except for two locations - which I didn't mind since they weren't that breath taking.
I had a few problems though. Actually my mother did too. The house was rather small with a max of 75 people and I am not counting on it but I need to plan for almost 100. We could have tents in the back of the house - which I forgot to take pictures of and just serve food in the house. That wouldn't be such a problem, but I am sure a lot of our guests would prefer to be inside instead since it can get pretty hot here. The other was no electricity would be supplied and we will have to use everything with batteries. I am not sure how DJs work but my mother seemed to frown at the idea of no electricity. I didn't get a chance to ask the woman if the ceiling fans and lights would be turned on. I know a few places that would ask for an extra fee if so. I will be giving her a call in a few days. But for now I am researching different locations. |

Wedding date
Oh my...Oh my...
I am having some trouble deciding a date. Currently I have two dates in mind January 2nd or somewhere in spring. At first I was ready for December 5th or 6th since it's towards Christmas which is my favorite Holiday. But my mother who wants to be my wedding planner can't help out since that month is her busy time. So I changed my date to the 2nd of January. It's great since school is out and the kids can actually visit for a good while since my cousins live five to eight hours away from here. BUT my problem is would people come since it's on a "Holiday" and their money has been burnt by the Holidays that just pass. Plus not all the flowers will be bloomed since it is rather cold here. That's where a spring wedding comes in. But my question is, does prices go up since it's during spring break and will places be booked?
Nya, I am rather lost at the moment. |

The Proposal
Our story
Justin and I had met online against all the warnings of meeting someone on the internet. At first I was rather skeptical of him, not sure if he was telling me the truth of his life or just pulling things out of a hat. We were just friends and after a few weeks I relaxed. Our friendship slowly grew strong and my mother was beginning to call him my boyfriend because the amount of time we would talk. I just ignored her comments.
My parents had planned a trip to visit Red Top Mountain, which turned out to be only a thirty minute drive away from where Justin lives and we had invited him to come for dinner. I couldn't say it was love at first site. I had to take my nerve pills to calm my pounding heart. So the first night was pretty much a blur but the second and our last one was nice. We cuddled while watching a movie with the family and then escaped the many eyes to talk outside. It was then he had kissed me. It was awkward and when I went to give him a second kiss I missed completely. I was such a nervous wreck. After laughing and move topics breezed by he asked me to be his girlfriend and I told him I had to think about it. It took me three days to come up with an answer but I finally said yes. Though we lived four hours apart he made his way to visit me once a month. It was hard being away from him and so we made the big decision for him to move down here. It had been almost a year and we were starting to look at engagement rings. I remember telling my sister that he was going to purpose to me on our first anniversary since my aunt and her family was going to be with us and we had planned a big dinner for the family. Boy, when he found out about the news he decided to change the date. It was memorial weekend and we had just finished swimming in the pool and eating dinner. I was a mess! In my bathing suit, hair a frizz from being wet and cheeks rosy from the sun. Through the whole dinner everyone was looking at us rather odd. I should have known from the stares but I was taken back when he got on his knee and asked me to marry him. In frozen shock I stared down at him with wide eyes and hands covering my mouth. Not a sound would come out but I forced myself to squeak out a yes. He is a great guy and I love him to death. |
