Wedding Dress
UPDATE - New post with pics in my blog!

UPDATE: I've made my decision! DRESS #2 !!!! Even though it was almost unanimous that I should choose dress #1 I'm going to follow my heart and wear my dream dress #2! . I know it'll look amazing when it fits me perfectly. I'm going to go back to the bridal store and get some better pictures to post before my dress arrives. June 24/08 - I SOLD dress number 1, see post above, yay!

I've also decided not to wear the veil I bought (in the picture) and wear my hair in a loose curly updo with a flower instead like my pictures posted above (see Hair & Make-up Trial). Wearing my hair down and wearing a veil is too much for this simple, beautiful dress. My hair needs to be up to show the neckline better.

ORIGINAL POST:

I fell in love with dress #1 in the first bridal store I went in to and ordered it ..... then I found my dream dress a few months later (I've always wanted to wear a V neck with a low back) and ordered it. It's going to arrive 30 days before the wedding.

So now I have two dresses one of which I'm going to sell. I really LOVE both dresses. They are completely different styles and I've gone back and forth with which one I should wear.

I'd love to get some opinions. Which one do you like on me?

Dress #2 is way too big on me so these pictures don't do it any justice. I know it's hard to imagine it in the right size. I'm a size 6 in this dress and the sample is a size 12. I would also alter the back to a lower V like one of the two pictures I have here because I definitely don't like it going straight across with the spaghetti straps at the back.

Honest opinions please :)

I still have the opportunity to wear whichever dress I want and sell the other as it'll be brand new and unaltered. Thanks :)

Dress #1 - Jayne Louis (local Toronto designer)
Dress #2 - Pronovias Diamante

ADDITION TO POST:

Wow this is actually quite upsetting. I probably shouldn't have posted this question! I had no idea that it would be unanimous that the 1st dress is the better choice. I'm still interested in hearing people's honest opinions, that's why I posted. I just don't know what to do now because I really don't want to wear a strapless dress. I love that the second dress is a V neck, that I can lower the back and that it SHOWS my hips and curves vs a dress that is more a-line and hides everything. I KNOW it'll look gorgeous in the right size and with a lowered back. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

The first one. I think the one with the strap made your shoulders look a bit narrow.

I like the 1st better, the train is so pretty! But generally I like dresses with straps better. Look at the dress on my page, I think you would like the top one, There is another from david's bridal a little further down on my page you might like also.

I like 1 the best! It makes you look SPECTACULAR! I especially love the train. Number 2 I was kind of iffy about. It makes you look 'hip-py', even though you are thin! Even the model in the same dress looked 'hip-py'! Oh, the last dress I believe was worn by another bride named debbiev. She's right in her comment, she DID look friggin hot!! :) haha!

First of all...you look gorgeous in both of the dresses!!! I, personally, like the first one better on you and your figure but the second one does have very nice features. You have very pretty taste :o) Good luck!

i agree with everyone on here you look very gorgeous in both dress, I am concerned about the stitching of the 2nd dress and how you propose to alter it. You are taking off ALOT of fabric, and totally reshaping the dress in the back, and i would HATE for you not to be satisfied with the outcome. I mean just looking at it, you would have to remove the zipper and lower it, break up the flow of the fabric, bring in new stitching, and possibly more lining, and lets not even mention the COST!!...Personally, it would have been easier to get the dress made the way you want it.  To me it seems that you are dead set on dress #2 so go with it and take that risk!!!

OK I didn't see your post before so I am reading the updated version... I like the 2nd dress and I think you look pretty it... what matters the most is how the dress makes YOU feel... if you feel fabulous it will show

i think dress 1 looks great but when you tried on the dress ask yourself if you really knew which one you were going to get married in:) hope that helps a little

I think you should definately get dress #2 if it feels the prettiest to you. They both look gorgeous. #1 is very flattering and a very popular style (not too different from my dress.) #2 is a bit different, but I still find it gorgeous. GO WITH YOUR GUT!!!

But wear which ever you like the most!

It seems like you really want to wear the 2nd dress. Even in the way you desribe it. I think it might be a little hard for some to envision how the dress will look once you have it altered to your size.

Wear the dress that you know in your gut is THE ONE.

Dress 1 is stunning on you. Dress 2 whilst pretty on the hanger doesn't make me go wow.

The # one dress I think is much more flattering on you than the second one.  They are both very pretty, but the second just doesn't do it.

definitely choose the first dress. plus, the first one is HALF the price, and that way the money you didn't spend toward your original $1500 budget could go somewhere else...say flowers??

Ya know what I love number 2 - alot more than number 1!!  They both look fabulous but I just adore the style of number 2.  My dress is similar to number 2, infact i had to decide between my dress and the one you are goign to wear so i know what it looks like.  I am also a size 6 and had to try on a really big size.  I am confident you will look stunnign on you big day - and i LOVE the dress!

The 1st one is nice, but it's kind of princessy and trendy. When you look back at pictures do you want to date yourself? The second is classic, beautiful, and understated bride. Think of it this way...when you think of beautiful women who sticks out more in your mind.... Gisele/Pamela Anderson/Someone trendy or Grace Kelly/Marilyn Monroe/Someone classic? Just my 2 cents. Go with your gut feeling.

I definitely like dress #2 better.  In fact, I was just looking at the Pronovias site today, and that dress caught my eye.  It had me second-guessing the dress that I bought.  It's a beautiful dress, and once you have it fitted properly, it will look stunning. You definitely made the right choice!

both are very pretty dresses. however, i think that one of the reasons a lot of people may not like the 2nd dress is because it is not fitted right. 3 sizes makes a big difference on how it will look on you. that being said you should wear the dress that you feel the most beautiful in! i had my dresses narrowed down to 2. one that was a more fitted lace dress and the dress i choose which is a satin fitted a line. neither dress fitted right but the satin dress was pretty much my size with a few alterations. needless to say i went with the satin one. now i wish i would've went with the lace b/c it is what i always wanted. anyway, whichever you choose you'll be beautiful!

I'm with you girl!!! I love the 2nd dress-- and it's just the kind I want too. I love the low back and v-neck. It's a bit sexier that the first, but still elegant. It seems like EVERYONE nowadays gets a strapless dress...it's getting a little tired, and I think it's nice to have something a little different than everone else.

LOVE your dress, the neckline is beautiful on you. The neckline on my dress is quite similar to yours. It's nice to have something different than the popular strapless style.

Purple shoes are a wonderful idea... it's like a fun little secret!

I know this is a late post but I have the diamante and ordered in 2008 to wear in my september 2009 wedding.  I LOVE it on you and think dress one was so cliche...it's beautiful, but it looks like a million other dresses. You made a GREAT decision and the dress looked amazing!
