Wedding Flowers
Silk or real??

I have a really small budget... LIke no more than $3,000. Which is fine with me. I just dont know what to do about flowers. I dont know if I should bite the bullet and buy real ones or if I should buy silk ones. I mean the I love flowers but to be honest, what are ANY of the girls or the guys going to do after the wedding.. they are just going to toss them in the trash can... or put them in some water... for 3 days until they die. I just hate to spend so much money on something that isnt going to even last longer than a couple days. I mean if I had the money I might go real, I just dont know. Do you think silk flowers are tacky?

What are you ladies doing? Silk or real??

I am using real flowers for the bouquets, only because i have 3 bridemaids. If it were more then i wouldn't be able to afford it.

I was initially doing real flowers for everyone. But, I recently began considering doing silk for the bridesmaids bc I'd like then to keep their bouquet and not trash it a few days later.
There are some silk flowers that look real. They are a bit on the expensive side. I'll have to sleep on it some more (and see how my budget goes).

I am using silk flowers for everything except my bouquet. The real flowers look better in pictures. Just make a fake tossing bouquet.

i am so totally on the same budget as you and honey i say silk all the way! The reason y i say that is one you can get the exact flowers you want, you dont have to pay tons of money to get your bouquet preserved and when hobby lobby has a 50% off floral event you can get a deal! Micheals has them to just not as often. i have a blog on the flowers i did but me and my mother in law did them all ourselves

thanks for using the word silk over fake...some girls need to be trained!! :)

PS: My vote is silk, if you catch Michaels during the right time you can get flowers up to 50% off!!

Im doing silk too... although it is adding up to still be pretty costly (more than I had thought anyway). Im always at Hobby Lobby, stocking up on the paticular flowers that I plan to use. I figure if I save money, great. If I spend the same amount or maybe a little more than I would have spent with real, thats okay too- because you still have more options as to what to do with them afterwards...  you can resell them to someone with your same color pallet, give them to your guests if they want an arrangement for their house, donate them to a hospital, hospice, or other charity that could use a bit of "cheer" in their hallways, or keep them for your self in your home (my colors match my living room).  So you do have a lot more options with silk, for sure. Just resist the urge to buy "dollar store" flowers and get nicer ones from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Joanns  :)

I did real  With the exception of one silk arrangement that was over the fireplace at the ceremony.

Check out my wedding pictures my flowers were beautiful.

toss not a chance we had the DJ draw names from a hat and ladies won the centerpieces.  You should have seen their faces when they were leaving.

I have a really small budget but we are doing real as well.  I am getting my bouquet made, but for the girls I am just buying bulk flowers and hand tying them myself.  There are videos on how to do it, it is super easy.  The roses were $1.49 a stem, so it will cost me around $60 for four bouquets for the girls.  The guys aren't having flower boutenneires,  we are using pocket squares.  I just remember all the fooling around we did to keep them up straight at my sisters wedding.  Try having non flower centrepieces to save even more money on flowers.
